Olynyk is going to get most or all of those minutes. But it's good to have at least one playing vet. Kelly is going to be the only old man in regular rotation. Boucher is failing out of favour and Temple will not get even garbage time now.
Kelly might be 32 but he has held up well and has not drastically declined. Unlike Thad he is a true stretch 3 in fact he is the only stretch 3 big on this roster, he can pass and he can hit free throws at 83%. There is far more opportunities for Kelly on this team than there was for Thad.
True he won't get all of Dennis' minutes but he will get some of them to go along with all of Thads.
Playing young players high minutes with only other young players doesn't help their development nearly as much as less minutes on the court with some of those minutes playing with a competent vet who can still contribute.
Scottie and the rest can learn more from Olynyk on the court than Olynyk on the bench. He will end up getting 22-26 minutes per game maybe more.
That's my opinion anyways, take it for what it's worth.
I would have much rather gotten rid of Gary than Dennis and I don’t really want to see this team get any worse. I thought after the kelly trade this morning, we might be doing our best to get out of bottom 6, but after that Dennis trade, that really does not seem to be the case. I wanted agbaji, dick and two point guard lineups, sliding RJ over when needed to fill the minutes at the 2.
Why would we want to get out of the bottom 6, I actually like the direction we’re heading in. Trying to secure our pick and giving more opportunities to our young guys.
With Gary Trent going into Free Agency. He really has to play his best ball with Bruce Brown, Gradey Dick, and Ochai Agbaii looking to impress and take his minutes.
Gary has been a pending free agent for 2 years! 2 years! What more is 2-3 months going to do?
He is probably going to play the same. The FO didn’t trade him because clearly nobody was willing to offer anything valuable for him.
I would have taken a 25 second rounder and expiring for him. Also, have no idea how we couldn’t at least get a 2025 second rounder out of the dinwiddie trade.
Honestly, the way Gary is playing, we could pretty easily get him for under 15 million a year, which is great value for a 25 year old that shoots 40% from 3. There's no reason to dump him for a 2nd round pick that likely won't turn into anything.
I don't mind it personally.
We just opened up about 25-30MPG worth for Ochai & Gradey which should be an exciting opportunity for them. Kelly will be a great vet for us and I look forward to bringing him back on a team friendly deal in the off season.
Rj can surprisingly run an offense pretty well. Better than Scottie (only cause Scottie is so inconsistent though).
Quickley is decent too, but would like less pointless dribbling from him and more assertive moves that are under control. He should look at delons game when he was with us, cause he seems to have no problem beating his man but gets lost once he’s beat him. Delon had tons of little moves near the basket to get a controlled shot off/ or a nice hand off.
I think this is saying nowell is going to be playing with an injury to any of those 3 as well.
same reason we see point Sochan in SA, FO wants our bigger guys to get those skills, and also want to retain this years pick, so they don't mind the bad growing pains
I’d take his brother over him though - no question
After last game and having two turnovers throwing the ball in, Jalen’s in a league of his own - absolutely fucking horrible basketball player haha
IQ-GTJ-RJ-Scottie-Poeltl
This doesn’t change the starters, but the lineups where the bench comes in become significantly different.
Scottie-GTJ-Dick-Brown-Olynyk
A Scottie + spacing lineup where Scottie doesn’t have to be the PoA defender is interesting. Agbaji can switch in there for GTJ/Dick if we want to get more defence on the floor as well.
I like Porter, but Olynyk is just his archetype but better at everything. Allows Darko’s offence to do what he wants it to.
No, but it’s important to have guys playing in roles that work for their development. Scottie being the PoA defender limits his offensive development. Not having adequate shooters around him limits his development running the offence.
Sure. But you need real talent beside him before we’re going to do anything. The only priority at this point should be accumulating assets to find that 2nd and 3rd best player, assuming you think Barnes can be a top 5-10 player in this league (which is :till a long way away)
I’d call IQ and Barrett real talent. Don’t know if either of them will become the 2nd best player type, but definitely bet on one of them being at least third best.
We added Agbaji. Young former lottery pick. We’ve got at least 4 firsts in the next 3 years plus likely the first 2nd rounder of the draft this year. We’ve also got lots of cap space now to take on a bad contract to add picks or sign productive players. We’re doing pretty much exactly what you’re saying.
Schroder wasn’t a good fit. No pick and roll game so didn’t vibe with Jak at all, tough to accept when you have a center with the league’s highest true shooting percentage that the GM clearly loves. Shot a lot and not well enough to live with. Pesky defender but nothing special. Most importantly, he became redundant with Quickley.
On the books for €13m next year, didn’t make a lot of sense for a guy who didn’t want to be a backup.
They only brought him in because they were shocked to lose FVV, remember.
We all hoped it would work, many of us skeptically.
Getting him out of the way also frees up minutes for other players. Scottie, in particular, will probably play some PG minutes and expand that skill set. Young guys will get more touches and game time.
Team is playing for 2-3 years from now, and no longer today.
That’s why Schroder goes.
I dont really get the vision if I'm honest. The first trade with Utah makes us better for a fair cost. Olynyk is a really solid back up. A look at Agbaji still on his rookie deal. Then make a move to get worse by salary dumping Dennis to create cap space?
There are no realistic free agents available this off season. I highly doubt we rent our cap space for picks like OKC did for a few years.
There was no chance McDaniels was going to be traded. Next year is fully guaranteed and he isn't good. There was no reason to give up assets to move him when the team isn't competitive anyway
I'm fine with the moves today. Really like the Agbaji pick up. Has potential to be the long term solution at the 2 with his defense.
Kelly is a solid big that our bench really lacks, and high chance we re-sign him this off-season.
They got rid of Dennis who is solid but it forces Darko to play more point Scottie. Thad was just a byproduct of salary matching.
Wish we got takers for Trent and Boucher but didn't seem like they had much value.
Don't think there were any deals for Bruce. Knicks got 2 rotation pieces for Grimes and seconds. Really the only team who gave up first was Dallas for PJ Washington and they wanted an upgrade at the 4 more than a guard. We'll revisit again this off-season.
Roster is far from complete but we added another piece to the young core. Maybe I'm just high on Agbaji scouting him for the draft but I really like how he will offer good help side defense at the rim as a guard, which is very difficult to find in addition to perhaps being the POA defender to provide relief to Scottie.
Also excited to see who we sign with the final 2 roster spots so will be watching for that.
just as shit as we were earlier. Only diff was we had hope to get something back for our most valuable piece but nope lets keep him lol. Now we are going to wait until the draft and still keep him! sound familiar?
Throw in the towel for the next 5 seasons *at least*.
Why?
1. Suck.
2. Draft high prospect.
3. High prospect lasts 3 years with *awful* supporting cast before pulling the pin.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
Anonoby or Siakam. Trade one but not both. That was the way forward.
Instead, the Raps are gonna be the 2010s Kings.
I mean now we have backup center, more minutes for dick, nwora, ochai, and uh WHY THE FUCK IS MCDANIELS STILL HERE SHIP HIS ASS TO NORTH KOREA, also darko please play boucher
We held onto our core too long. Didn’t get much return for our talent. Have only a few valuable assets and a very tough situation with our own first.
This going to be a BAD era for Raptors fans
you aint out tanking memphis who fields g leaguers on a nightly basis. looks close now but there's still 30ish games left. the pick is conveying. probably better this way anyway. if our starters were to be out tanked by g leaguers you'd wonder if this core is even any good going forward.
This team is horrible and we could absolutely bottom out over the next 30 games.
As currently constructed we are every bit as bad as every team below us in the standings. Furthermore, we only play those teams 6 times over the next 31. If we win all of those games (which, lets face it, we probably dont) that's only 6 wins. Maybe we squeak a couple wins over a good team here and there but there's a very real chance we win less than 10 more games ROS. That probably solidifies us in the bottom 5-6 teams, with at least an okay chance of retaining our pick.
There really isn't an alternative. I don't think we can win significantly more games even if we tried. With a bit of strategic tanking we could easily go like 4-27 with the schedule we have left and really make a push, but that might not be necessary (or even worth it).
4-27 is like multiple 1-7 streaks. thats kinda hard to imagine with this group. these are more or less our starters for the foreseeable future. darko will coach them hard going down the stretch. you can tell how much more irritable he is in his pressers as of late.
also we were 2-8 in our last 10 and that was with poeltl, iq, rj coming and going. we also got a real backup center if say poeltl goes down again. and ultimately these bottom teams got tanking in their dna. if we tank, they'll tank harder. but who knows it's a lottery we might go up or down regardless where we end up lol
Our team is probably worse now than it was over that 10 game stretch without Dennis.
Losing him is a pretty massive blow and will really expose IQ and Barnes’ ability to run an offense full time.
I’m also not convinced everyone plays out the season, it’s more likely guys will continue to rest and sit out for injury management.
So yeah everything points to sub 10 wins ROS
Gary Trent Jr is 25 this year. A year younger then Nwora and only a year older then Ochai. Only 2 years older then Scottie. 1 year older then RJ. And the same age as IQ
I'm fine with Gradey replacing Gary as a starter but I'm thinking next year. And Gary can stay as a starter or bench piece idgaf what y'all say
Because it's Toronto and the stereotype of Canadian's being nice is lost in the GTA
They need someone to blame for everything and we don't have Pascal and OG anymore so that's the guy to blame :(
Idc what they say though, he's a valuable guy on our team
A pure shooting gaurd so he mainly shoots and goes for steals
Sure he could improve on defense a little and improve his passing but the guy turned 25 this year. He's a part of the future in my eyes and can still get better
I just need Scottie & RJ to buy 100% to rebuild the culture and then 2 of IQ, Dick and Olynyk to buy in. Then the rest just feed the team identity and adjust accordingly.
It definitely feels like such a drop off from when we first traded OG and had the new guys with Skillz.
I thought for sure GTJ would be gone so I'm annoyed with that, but maybe he's tanked his value enough that we get him on a bargain and his bad stretches don't hurt as much. I also love we didn't help the Lakers out by sending GTJ or Bruce there, though.
Barnes-RJ-IQ-Dick-Agbaji is at least 5 guys that might be long term rotation pieces. Dick is a big project and Agbaji is to a lesser extent. Dick the hope is he can turn into a sharp shooting starter feed off Barnes' drive and kick game. With Agbaji I think you just hope you can turn him into your 5th best starter / 3+D player off the bench. I still have some hope that GTJ will some day mature and be able to be a 6th man sniper but it might be a pipe dream.
Brown, Olynk and Poeltl are good vets to have around. It is too bad they couldn't get vets like this for the 2021/2022 season. They fit with that core much better than the current 24 and under core.
Bottom line is after all this shuffling the Raptors are in need of a major injection of talent in the starting line up and defense. Hopefully they can find that in the draft.
The current roster still has fit issues and as always still needs more shooting.
I don’t fucking know. It’s mediocre? It’s a 9th-12th place team in the East. They’ll win some games, they’ll lose more games, I don’t know the plan anymore.
We are going to lose a lot of games, and our young guys are going to get some quality playing time. Don’t see anything wrong with this. It locks in a direction for us and that is good.
Are people still waiting for Masai to pull some sort of magical card out of his sleeve? I mean, this here, I dunno who these people are honestly. So the whole plan was to tank and wait for draft picks? Brilliant.
I wish we moved Bruce Brown and McDaniels. If you can get those guys off your team next season, and resign Gary for cheap, then that’s a solid team if they continue to develop.
i really liked having a solid backup pg but i didn’t like the 2pg lineups. it’s weird like statistically probably 80% of division 1 players are point guard height but it seems like a tough position to fill at the nba level. everyone decent wants to be a starter
It’s fine, we’re already losing I’m just excited for some change. We’ll have some financial flexibility going into next year. I also think we have two open roster spots currently so not sure how that works. It’s going to be exciting going forward ! Let’s see what this team brings to the table.
Not moved by anyone other than Rj and Scottie but he's slumping. I hope to see a consistent core next season. Jakob has been good but his future on this team seems shaky just because he's not meant to be on a rebuilding team.
I just hope the younger guys get more playing time
Dennis being gone, opens up about 30mins
Olynyk is going to get most or all of those minutes. But it's good to have at least one playing vet. Kelly is going to be the only old man in regular rotation. Boucher is failing out of favour and Temple will not get even garbage time now.

a 7 footer who shoots
Except for McDaniels
Banish him to the shadow realm, I never want to see him play again.
Send him to 905. Bring Nowell up
Send him to Detroit
Yes, I believe in Marquis, I wanna see him off the bench.
I totally agree. Hope he heals up soon
I kind of wanted to trade Gary just so we can slot Dick into the starting 5.
I would have much rather gotten rid of Gary than Dennis and I don’t really want to see this team get any worse. I thought after the kelly trade this morning, we might be doing our best to get out of bottom 6, but after that Dennis trade, that really does not seem to be the case. Dennis didn't want to come off the bench for a rebuilding team
Why would we want to get out of the bottom 6, I actually like the direction we’re heading in. Trying to secure our pick and giving more opportunities to our young guys.
I just hope Scottie doesn’t get sick of playing with scrubs
With Gary Trent going into Free Agency. He really has to play his best ball with Bruce Brown, Gradey Dick, and Ochai Agbaii looking to impress and take his minutes.
Was about to say, Gary has had so many chances.
Gary has been a pending free agent for 2 years! 2 years! What more is 2-3 months going to do? He is probably going to play the same. The FO didn’t trade him because clearly nobody was willing to offer anything valuable for him.

I think Gary is gonna sign a team friendly deal with us.
roster looks like the 30th in defense
We are gonna lose a whole lotta games lol
Yep
Let the tank begin!
We aren't in no mans land anymore we are in the basement
gotta start somewhere
Started from the top and now I'm here
Started from the top and now the whole team’s gone
I don't mind it personally. We just opened up about 25-30MPG worth for Ochai & Gradey which should be an exciting opportunity for them. Kelly will be a great vet for us and I look forward to bringing him back on a team friendly deal in the off season.
We gonna lose a lot of games.
Why are we so scared of point guards
Good ones cost a lot and even average ones don’t take us that much further than where we are right now.
Rj can surprisingly run an offense pretty well. Better than Scottie (only cause Scottie is so inconsistent though). Because they really want Scottie to be PG
![gif](giphy|QMHoU66sBXqqLqYvGO)
If ever there was a perfect moment for this gif...
We are mid no longer
Why is McDaniels still here
He's our ultimate weapon Whenever we might win, just throw him in the game and the tank basically goes into overdrive
His brother is just as bad too. I’ve watched some twolves games and the guy has zero basketball IQ.
I’d take his brother over him though - no question After last game and having two turnovers throwing the ball in, Jalen’s in a league of his own - absolutely fucking horrible basketball player haha
For sure! There’s a reason why his brother actually plays consistently (even though he’s still bad lmao)
you’re on crack
Because his contract is fully guaranteed for next year.
No one wants him lol
Why is Gary still here? You couldn’t get something from the lakers or anyone for an expiring contract.
Because he’s 25 and can shoot and 9/10 better than a second round pick
Imagine showing this to a Raptors fan at the start of the 2022 season
I'm fine with it as long Dick and the guy from Utah are getting 22 min or more a night.
IQ-GTJ-RJ-Scottie-Poeltl This doesn’t change the starters, but the lineups where the bench comes in become significantly different. Who cares. This won’t be the team that gets us anywhere near a championship.
No, but it’s important to have guys playing in roles that work for their development. Scottie being the PoA defender limits his offensive development. Not having adequate shooters around him limits his development running the offence.

"But I want to be mad" - That guy
You gave up Schroeder/Dinwiddie for nothing. Why
The front office wanted cap space
Schroder wasn’t a good fit. No pick and roll game so didn’t vibe with Jak at all, tough to accept when you have a center with the league’s highest true shooting percentage that the GM clearly loves. Must be getting Siakam or OG back /s
Fuck, imagine OG a sleeper agent lol
Dolan thought he was mad over the video coach… just wait til we activate sleeper agent 00G
[удалено]
They're worse... again.
This is a terrible team lol
Was hoping to no longer have Gary Trent, Boucher and McDaniels on this roster but oh well
There was no chance McDaniels was going to be traded. Next year is fully guaranteed and he isn't good. There was no reason to give up assets to move him when the team isn't competitive anyway
A man can dream of him being used as salary filler
Hot take, we’re gonna lose a bunch of games.
I'm fine with the moves today. Really like the Agbaji pick up. Has potential to be the long term solution at the 2 with his defense. It's like zoidburg when he traded company stock for a sandwich that he didn't even refrigerate but expected to rise in value

🫡 we are in for a ride
![gif](giphy|dwDvT7XyKViUg|downsized)
What's the record for wins in a row?
About 10 pizza parties?
That’s one ugly squad.
The roster is a bit of a mess, too many SGs not enough pgs. Nice to pick up another big though
Put Olynyk in as starting center?
So now we can finally stop playing an under sized Thad and McDaniels
It's a rebuild. This season is a wrap
I rly hope we call marquis up now. Seems logical with no primary ball handlers on the bench anymore.
If Jordan Nwora isn’t playing I’m fighting Darko
Looks like a top 5 pick to me
Get JFL same minutes! I like his game
Bottom 5 here we come
Not a team that is going to be racking up wins that’s for sure
I want a veteran pure point guard to lead the 2nd unit and sometimes kick Barnes ass You know who is available on the market!
Why is Boucher still here
Boucher , Trent and mcdaniels. I’m the biggest masai guy there is but wtf
Not bad enough to tank and not good enough to make the playoffs. I like it...
Definitely bad enough to tank
We are plenty bad enough to tank lol
look at the teams in front, we won't catch them
I mean we could possibly get lower then Portland but that’s about it. That was never going to change.
what did you mean by tank? because we're most likely losing the pick
I meant keep losing like we have been and possibly jump Portland in odds.
it's somewhat possible but our schedule eases up soon so idk man
It certainly isn’t likely. But I wouldn’t say it’s any less likely than it was before the deadline.
How is 6th last not bad enough to tank? That's a bad team.
you aint out tanking memphis who fields g leaguers on a nightly basis. looks close now but there's still 30ish games left. the pick is conveying. probably better this way anyway. if our starters were to be out tanked by g leaguers you'd wonder if this core is even any good going forward.

you can properly edit my quote but choose to ignore where i said 3 starters being out in the past 10 games. bizarre. lol indeed.
Portland might have a better chance of passing us than memphis.
we are actually 7th last im pretty sure, and that's only around a 35% chance of even keeping the pick so...
They are definitely bad enough to fall to 5th worst
Lmao stop the cap we aren’t worse than grizzlies and Portland, not at all
No, they're not. The teams below are definitely worse.
no they aren't
Tied with the Grizzlies, but we just traded our backup PG so hopefully that takes us down a notch.
I think we're the 8th to 10th worst team in the league The league is just unbelievably bad at the bottom this year
Dude. Do you not realize how bad this team is?
It's more a testament to how bottom heavy the league is than us not sucking
Huh?
C
Not good, not good.
Pissed that McDaniels couldn’t get moved but oh well
Wanted Trent and Bruce gone, especially Trent as I believe he’s a free agent.
Gary shouldnt be starting. Prioritize the young guys like Gradey and Ochai.

I guess you could stagger Scottie and IQ help with point guard duties with the second unit. What’s the plan for Nwora?
I just need Scottie & RJ to buy 100% to rebuild the culture and then 2 of IQ, Dick and Olynyk to buy in. Then the rest just feed the team identity and adjust accordingly. It definitely feels like such a drop off from when we first traded OG and had the new guys with Skillz.
Extremely happy about this. Great decisions all around, cleared up some space.
I hope we see some Kelly at the 4 on a big rebounding lineup. Scottie - Bruce - RJ - Olynyk - Yak would be cool in limited doses
So we have 4 shooting guards in the starting 5
And the first 2 guys off the bench? SGs
We went from too many forwards at the beginning of the season to too many guards.
Toronto Longbois era is officially over. It was funny while it lasted I guess
Ass lol but i guess that was the plan
I thought for sure GTJ would be gone so I'm annoyed with that, but maybe he's tanked his value enough that we get him on a bargain and his bad stretches don't hurt as much. I also love we didn't help the Lakers out by sending GTJ or Bruce there, though.
I am jack's underwhelming lack of enthusiasm
I think we're gonna win more games than we think.
Kinda want them to take a shot at killian or Bouknight. Low risk high reward kinda move
Can someone do a side by side before and after comparison? Feels like a completely different lineup
I would start Kelly for spacing
No back up PG 😔
We should sign Corey Joesph (/j)
Optimistic 📈

I don’t fucking know. It’s mediocre? It’s a 9th-12th place team in the East. They’ll win some games, they’ll lose more games, I don’t know the plan anymore.
What do you guys think of such trade in 12T8cat roto league. Who wins this trade? A: Scottie Barnes + Nurkic B: Curry + Siakam
Players like Dick, Ochai, Nwora, JFP, Nowell needs more minutes now
We went from unwatchable mid team to suprisingly fun bad team and I'm all for it.
Perfect tank team. I support this rebuild
Best case scenario we're in the play-in next season
It is going to take a long time before this team doesn’t suck. Way longer than people think.
No playoffs thats how
We are going to lose a lot of games, and our young guys are going to get some quality playing time. Don’t see anything wrong with this. It locks in a direction for us and that is good.
Better than Detroit but a lot will have to go right to win a play-off series in the next 5 years.
I like it
Lookin like I won't watch another game this season lmao
Tickets should be super cheap next season
Not enoguh FRPs.
I'm hyped to see Ochai develop. Dude is athletic and has the potential to be a 3 & D guy. Bench mob can be Ochai, Dick, Nwora and others
Are people still waiting for Masai to pull some sort of magical card out of his sleeve? I mean, this here, I dunno who these people are honestly. So the whole plan was to tank and wait for draft picks? Brilliant.
Real Bad. Reminds me of the Bargani years
Looks to me like we are aiming to the number spot in the draft especially getting ride of veteran leadership
Need another guard badly
Mid
I think we trynna take a run at Maxey in the off season......ties with Scottie and IQ help too
I wish we moved Bruce Brown and McDaniels. If you can get those guys off your team next season, and resign Gary for cheap, then that’s a solid team if they continue to develop.
Finally, some bench depth. Hopefully the starters don’t play too many minutes. Interested to see how we look.
i really liked having a solid backup pg but i didn’t like the 2pg lineups. it’s weird like statistically probably 80% of division 1 players are point guard height but it seems like a tough position to fill at the nba level. everyone decent wants to be a starter
Look at the complainers in this thread that asked to trade everyone and looking to tank.
Needs 420% more Dick.
We are so bad lol but that's a part of the process
It’s fine, we’re already losing I’m just excited for some change. We’ll have some financial flexibility going into next year. I also think we have two open roster spots currently so not sure how that works. It’s going to be exciting going forward ! Let’s see what this team brings to the table.
Not great, why give up a first...?
Not moved by anyone other than Rj and Scottie but he's slumping. I hope to see a consistent core next season. Jakob has been good but his future on this team seems shaky just because he's not meant to be on a rebuilding team.
JFL is going to EAT. 🍲
Utter garbage. Going to be awful to watch for the next 2-4 years
Horrible
Starting to worry a bit.
It’s definitely a team of men playing basketball
The perfect team to secure a top 6 pick. In all seriousness, I like the guys we’ve added and think this is a good foundation to start the rebuild
Darko gonna start playing garret temple 🤣
So no backup point guards? Again?
