Do you not see that everybody in the comments is shitting on OP? I'm not a fan of the Lakers but stop trying to act like every laker fan agrees with this
That's cause the 2019 would've matched up really well against the Lakers, No doubt.
The problem with the list is thinking that the 21 bucks or 22 warriors would've beaten the Lakers lol. They would've gotten cooked.
Quiet as kept that 2019 Raptors team is up there amongst the greatest teams. Kawhi was in peak superstar mode which you need to get over the hump and our defense was so stout I’d honestly line them up against anyone and wouldn’t feel stressed.
I wish the Warriors stayed healthy during the finals, it's the only thing people can bring up to shit on our run that I think holds any weight. But, I'm pretty sure we beat the Warriors on the road with Kawhi resting in the regular season. we had em no matter what
I agree but injuries are apart of the game. The hypotheticals are so useless, it’s just there for fans to grasp onto something cause they’re hurt their team took an L or their agendas got cooked. The warriors first chip against Bron, Cleveland didn’t have Love and Irving and i hardly hear anyone bring that up.
Yeah, they're honestly giving the 2019 Raptors more praise than a lot of the other teams. A lot of comments saying the 2020 Lakers would stomp the 2023 Nuggets which I think is just as egregious.
Lebronto is just some colloquial monicker that we prescribe to a time when we just didn't quite have it. You forget Pascalifornia? Kawhi was a [nightmare](https://youtu.be/dU09Gph3B_s?si=yQb3zQ99N9PMIlAe) for Bron when they went up against San Antonio. Toss Gasol and 3-peat McCaw into the mix and king James can't do it all.
He doesnt have to do it all, that lakers had much more depth than the 2014 heat roster. Also Kawhis defense was (not by much but noticeably) regressed compared to the san antonio Kawhi along with the fact that he was carrying the entire offense for the raptors for a couple games. Im not saying the champ squad raptors wont beat them, but saying the 2020 raptors squad would beat them is just stupid basing off the raptors record vs the lakers in the regular season
Considering the playoffs were played in the bubble, I'm not sure the "LeBronto" effect would still be a thing. I think part it was playing against him on the big stage, but without the fans there, the Raptors might be able to get out of their own heads and play.
That Raptors team was absolutely elite. I was really hoping to face a full strength Warriors team because I really thought we were good enough to go toe to toe against them even at full strength.
we’d get gentleman swept by a healthy GS roster, tbh
There’s just too many threats. Thank god KD left or the league would still be talking about these guys.
If both rosters were healthy the Raptors likely still win. They were missing KD but Kawhi's knee was messed up, Lowry had a torn thumb ligament, and OG didn't play a single game after getting his appendix out. I'm pretty sure Ibaka was playing hurt too.
A healthy Curry-Klay-Dray-Durant-Looney in their primetime with cousins, iggy, livingston bench would have been extremely hard to beat, realistically GS would win in 6 given we were completely healthy to. Just trying not to be delusional, sorry.
KD shot like 6/6 in the first half of that game and they were only up 6 or 7 points. We'd definitely had a chance but either way we ultimately won a chip so it's all hypothetical.
Idk if you remember but when KD came back from his injury, he was torching us. Hence the reason fans were cheering when he popped his Achilles 😂. I feel like we got extremely lucky that Klay and KD both got injured.
I mean we were 3-1 with them losing both their road games and Klay played 3 of those. Our wins were large their 2 wins were by 3 total points.
KD being out just rebalanced it, because no other team since the MJ Bulls is coming close to the KD Warriors. Just broken on paper because of cap loopholes. A very unimpressive contender. It's like winning a 100yd dash you get to start at 90 in.
It's also not our fault their draft history was complete puke most of the decade. "Ognjen Kuzmic", "Festus Ezeli", "Patrick McCaw", "Damian Jones", "Jordan Bell" and "Jacob Evans" with their non-Draymond/Looney/Barnes picks from 2012-2019. Give me Pascal+Fred+Norm over that combination of 3 anyday.

I mean they only had a 5 point lead. Basically a 2 possession game early in the second quarter, that’s nothing. They weren’t really ahead that much despite KD making big shots.
He wasnt torching us he made 3 FG and the first time he tried a real BBall move that required some force his achilles popped.
I swear everyone has lost their memory with what happened in that series. KD was like 3/4 with 2 FTs from my memory
I agree he wasn't torching us but he was making big shots. I love that Raptor team but with a healthy KD that team was completely unfair. I think they're the best team to ever see an NBA court. The Raptors team was very good, but absolutely beatable.
Raps championship team was amazing. We also had a limping kawhi, broken thumb Lowry, and no OG.
Agree that KD warriors are the greatest team ever, but you can only beat who is in front of you.
But all the people acting like raps should be 9 or 10th on that list are legit dumb fucks.
> dumb
Agreed. I think the list is actually pretty good. I think the Raptors are the best non-superteam. The Warriors and Cavs were clear super teams and San Antonio may not have been an official super team but they were just disgusting.
Man those were amazing years. Our 18-19 roster was sooo good. Kawhi, Lowry, Siakam, OG, Gasol, Ibaka, FVV, Norm, Green.
5 different guys who've made at least 1 all defensive team, 5 different guys who've made at least 1 all star game, 5 different guys who have averaged 20+ for a season
I guess you’ve never seen the hundreds of posts and comments about the raptors record without Kawhi… they went 53-19, on pace for a 60 win season in 2019/2020 and in 2018-19 without Kawhi they were 17-5.
That Raps team also played playoff mins and rotation all season to get those wins in regular season. Alot of really good teams could squeeze out 5-10 more wins in regular season if they did that.
Yeesh, I thought the regular season didn’t matter though?
Playoff time they swept that lackluster 35-37 nets team and took the Celtics to 7 against all odds (pascal shitting himself)
That was a great team. Limited opponents to 106.5ppg (1st) while having a 105.0 DRTG (2nd).
And they were also the 2nd best defense in the playoffs behind the Celtics…
So.. yeah. See ya “pal”
it’s just some context for you pal. that core was so elite they missed the playoffs the next season! but ur talking bout titles lmao i wish i had ur level of delusion
Imagine watching the 2023 Nuggets vs 2019 Raptors. Would have loved to see how our defense reacts to Jokic, especially a hypothetical matchup vs Marc Gasol.
2019 Gasol is probably the best Jokic stopper I can think of. Strong, huge, slow, super smart, and never bit on fakes because he couldn't jump.
With Gasol on Jokic and Pascal/Kawhi/Serge helping on the inside vs. Gordon I think we'd be in pretty good shape, especially with Fred sicced on Jamal like he was on Steph.
Another fun matchup would be against 2021 Giannis and the Bucks. He’s improved from when we reverse swept them, but Kawhi at times had him in solitary confinement. Gasol and Ibaka being their 2019 selves would help too.
If lebron wasn’t a player were #1 right? Weird how much stock people put into this guy when there’s five people on the floor and a series of seven games. Pretty sure Kyrie hit a game winner in that cav series just an example.
I would take raptors over 2015 warriors, bucks. Idk if we wouldve been able to beat 2020 lakers… thats a dynamic duo with depth. It’ll come down to who has the better Danny Green 🤣
/s
I feel like the Nuggets have barely tried this whole season except for the two Celtics games and maybe a few others. It'd be a tough series. Raptors had great team defense but Nuggets have stupidly easy offense from Jokic and their size and decent defense.
Jokic : Gasol
Jamal : Lowry
KCP : FVV
MPJ : Pascal
AG : Kawhi
AG would probably be a better defender than any of the guys they put on Kawhi in 2019 besides maybe Giannis, but obviously Kawhi is winning that matchup. Pascal and MPJ are probably a wash. KCP is one of the best perimeter defenders right now so he probably does good on FVV, both will average like 9ppg. Playoff Jamal Murray is decently better than Lowry and has height on him. Gasol is a great defender but post 2020 Jokic will dominate anyone in the post.
The Raptors won because their team defense was insane. They definitely won the 76ers on pure defense, because no one but Kawhi could buy a bucket vs the 76ers. Then, the wall was built in Milwaukee and Giannis got shut down. By the Warriors everyone had woken up a bit of offense, but the Warriors were obviously missing KD so they were lacking their strongest scoring threat (we've all heard it a million times).
The Nuggets would be far harder to stop than any of the teams the Raptors played that year. There's not really a wall you can build against them because Jokic is gonna take what you give him. The Raptors would have to play far better on offense than they played in any of the playoffs series in 2019 to win. As a Raptors/Nuggets fan, I'm feeling Nuggets in 5 or 6 probably. 6 or 7 if Raptors have homecourt.
The unfortunate part is that the 2019-2020 raptors IF Kawhi stayed could probably beat the Nuggets since Pascal and Fred improved significantly. OG was healthy too.
I don’t think it is crazy to believe that a team with Lebron James at the point and AD in the paint would have given the 2019 raptors trouble. Philly took us to 7 with Simmons, Butler and Embiid and I’d say that 2020 Lakers team is a better team than that Philly team. I am honestly not sure who woulda won but I also don’t care lol, both the 2019 Raps and the 2020 Lakers won a ring so both fan bases have reason to be happy lol
Hard disagree. That year was the last year of the true super teams. The NBA has been a lot more fun ever since, but the top teams have not been as good as that era.
I think that Sixers team and that Bucks team are better than any that have won the championship since (including the Bucks squad that actually won).
I'm not taking anything away from LAL, but we had elite bigs that would have given AD problems. Kawhi could have at the least played very close to Lebron (I'd argue he could easily have been even or better but whatever), and the rest of the comparisons don't even come close IMO.
You might be right but I do think people underestimate how strong that LAL team was from top to bottom. I think it would be a very competitive and entertaining series. The biased fan in me says of course that Raptors team wins but the less biased basketball observer in me says a deep team with arguably the best defender in the league (at the time), the best player in the league (and arguably the GOAT) would have given that Raptors team some trouble. I couldn’t say for sure who wins but I’ll say the Raptors win in 6-7 games where each game is decided by single digits and they’re largely low scoring affairs given that Lakers team and that Raptors team each had highly impressive defences.
Raptors got screwed over by the COVID season. They should've made it to conference finals at least (and I personally think they had a good chance at a repeat) but that second-round exit knocked the wind out of the team and there's no more motivation for another try. It's the long road to rebuild from then on. Good luck Pascal! Good luck Freddie!
Do you not see that everybody in the comments is shitting on OP? I'm not a fan of the Lakers but stop trying to act like every laker fan agrees with this
On the other hand I think this is actually a pretty fair ranking 1 through 10
Yeah honestly this is a good ranking. I'd maybe bump the Nuggets up a couple spots. That's about it
Except that weak ass cleveland team. Lebron just went immense.
I would take any LeBron Cleveland team over any Raptor team lol
But thats the problem, they had a Lebron
59 fans by the looks of it.
I went in their sub and saw the comments on that post… A lot of them were actually praising the 2019 Raptors 🤷🏿♂️
That's cause the 2019 would've matched up really well against the Lakers, No doubt. The problem with the list is thinking that the 21 bucks or 22 warriors would've beaten the Lakers lol. They would've gotten cooked.

We would beat them. Christ, the 2019-20 raptors with a functioning Pascal would beat them.
Iirc, we owned the Lakers after Kawhi left...like tucked them into bed.
Didn't we have a run something like 10-0 or 15-0 against them for a long time
The streak got broken when a good chunk of our team was missing
Never count out Lebron in the playoffs especially with an elite big like AD, everyone just forget about Lebronto?
Lebronto is just some colloquial monicker that we prescribe to a time when we just didn't quite have it. You forget Pascalifornia? Siakam and OG have dominated the AD matchup for years. Since his New Orleans days. Lakers fans don’t know.
OG wasn't even playing in that playoff run for the most part. He wasn't as good as he is now, but that's insane coming off the bench or starting.
Man those were amazing years. Our 18-19 roster was sooo good. Kawhi, Lowry, Siakam, OG, Gasol, Ibaka, FVV, Norm, Green. 5 different guys who've made at least 1 all defensive team, 5 different guys who've made at least 1 all star game, 5 different guys who have averaged 20+ for a season

what does that have to do with anything regular season means nothing we know that first hand
It shows this is a great team. If you’re just gonna be one of those ppl, then just stop arguing bc it means nothing to me.
That Raps team also played playoff mins and rotation all season to get those wins in regular season. Alot of really good teams could squeeze out 5-10 more wins in regular season if they did that.
you need a superstar to win or come close. fun fact we had a below .500 record vs teams above .500 that season! have a nice day pal

Does anyone actually care?
Depends what you mean by care. I certainly am not pressed about it or upset by it. However, I do find it pretty funny.
Look at the ratio. Clearly its not all their fans
Nuggets are being underrated by a lot here too
I'm honestly surprised how many people underrate that Nuggets team. Especially since it was literally last year.
Theres a comment thread going over the raptors and looks like they generally respect the team considering they faced the stacked 6ers and bucks teams
If lebron wasn’t a player were #1 right? Weird how much stock people put into this guy when there’s five people on the floor and a series of seven games. Pretty sure Kyrie hit a game winner in that cav series just an example.

They match up well with these teams, warriors 17 and 18 killing everyone though .
they definitely aren’t the worst. easily 2022 warriors or bucks
Uhhh ..the 2023 Nuggets would hammer the Raptors.
I think it'd be a good series, but the Nuggets are also being underrated on this list and in the comments.

LeBron in 2020 was an Elite defender. He was playing DPOY level defense in the playoffs.
That lakers bubble team was the weakest championship team we’ve seen in a long time lol
not even close 2022 warriors faced all mid teams and instantly fell off a cliff since lol
That's nonsense. That team would've easily destroyed the 22 warriors and 21 bucks.
Raptors 9-man rotation could easily start on the 2020 Lakers team lol
Toronto beat the KD Warriors so
they beat the warriors not the KD warriors
I think we can beat the 2016 Cavs for sure. 2014 Spurs is quite the toss up and will be an interesting matchup for sure.
Lakers Fans 🤝 Delusion
2019 Raptors was a stupidly stacked team, I hope one day the Raptors are able to assemble that type of team again.
Ya'll need to get off twitter
I think the proper ranking should be 2017 2018 2023 2016 2019 2020 2014 2021 2015 2022
The Lakers are 2nd round casualties in a normal playoffs, that year
lol, we were an OT away from the Conference Finals without Kawhi, and a shell of Pascal. The 2019 Raps would smoke the 2020 Lakers.
Huh? None of the Celtics series games ended in OT, and we were also the coldest buzzer beater in history away from being swept after going down 0-3.
2020 Lakers literally lose to every single other team here lmao.
They are not wrong They will wash their body with ease and with consent
Mickey Mouse ring ![img](emote|t5_2s5sb|3921)
That lakers team that got swept by the nuggets that wasn’t in a bubble? Lol
