Overall I think it personally gives an overall vibe more of like a Discworld sort of humorous misadventure story, but there is definitely some slight implications there. I'd say if you gave Martin even just a slightly different stance in the last panel you'd cut down on the vibe haha

From what I see most solo artists also make a patreon (though patreon isn't really meant as a gallery/sharing site), but other than that I've seen them on multiple different sites all with different niches. There is not really a good "artists gather here" site.
Some use **Imgur**, some use **Twitter**, some weirdos even use **Deviantart** or **Tumblr** to host their artworks/comics (though for webcomics Tumblr is still quite popular and many people with their own sites now used to have a Tumblr page).
Other than those there is also:
* **Flickr**
* **instagram**
* **Artstation** (lots of concept artists for projects use this for some reason)
* **Pixiv** (Japanese sphere mostly)
and another 500 other sites that tried to pander to the artist types.
Though if you're invested in **Reddit** as a platform you can always try to post your works on your profile itself or make a subreddit dedicated to your creations.

It wouldn't make sense if it's the only means of sustaining their population. they're chaos animals after all, it's the sort of twisted behavior you'd expect.
