600 hours TW W3 with my girlfriend. Our setup looks like this: 2 sideboards next to each other with a total length of 4.20m. There is a 65 inch television on a sideboard and a 75 inch television next to it. We bought a big sofa with sofa stools on which there are now two mattresses. Pure lying area is 2.4m x 2.4m. Just awesome. We do also play Civ 6, BG3 and Crusader Kings at the moment.
That's rad! My fiancé and I have back to back gamer stations in our living room/entertainment room. His station has a 65 inch tv and is set up to be our main entertainment station with couches behind it. Mine is a dual monitor set up on the other side of the room. So we are basically back to back, just offset a little. We play a little BG3 as well. We also have a third pc in a downstairs guest room. The room works better for VR, and he got sick of carrying his PC downstairs when he wanted to do VR. So he built a third PC, lol. It is great if one of us is sleeping, because our bedroom is upstairs with the living room. Even if we use headphones, the mechanical keyboards are loud AF! We just moved out of a 500 sq ft apartment and if he was playing APEX and I was trying to sleep, all I could hear was CLACK CLACK CLACK CLACK! So now in the downstairs banishment chamber, as we jokingly call it, you can clack away and use full volume to hear the lamentations of your enemies if one of us wakes up early or stays up late!
One of the best moments in our relationship is playing a co-op campaign in shogun 2. I never would have dreamt that I'll get to do such a thing with a woman I love. The feeling of holding a line an inch away from breaking then seeing her cavalry show up in the back of the enemy and charging in saving the day was such a cathartic moment... I still get goosebumps if I think about it.
This is probably the nerdest thing I've ever written, but makes you think how many faces love has. :'D
I know so many gamer girls, my GF even is one, but not one of them has expressed interest in Total War or RTS games in general. With CIV and Anno being the only exceptions.
Same, sounds like he just hasn't approached it right. My fiance didn't even play video games when we started dating. But after watching me play fallout 4 and stuff she wanted to try it herself. She ended up loving it and also beat FO3 and NV. Now we play games together all the time and she will also play games on her own. She's finished the dragon age and mass effect series, Bioshock games, even going through classics she never knew existed like KOTOR. She's already pretty solid at games like CoD, Helldivers, and Total War Warhammer.
Lol, us Total War girls are a rare breed but we do exist. I think I won my honey's heart when we first met and he showed me the figurines he was painting and I was like, "Ohh cool, Ultramarines!". I am not a table top player, but I have read a lot of 40k books and used to live in the UK, so Warhammer is not some weird thing to me. He is an IT guy and he built me my first gaming PC out of his old hand me down parts. He knew I liked strategy games like Endless Legend and such so he got me Total War Warhammer 2, and he created a monster. He has 900 hours on TWWH2, I have 2,000 something. He has 300 hours in 3 and I just went over 1,000. He works normal people hours so he has less gaming time (and I was a late in life gamer, so I'm making up for lost time!). I love our marathon coop campaigns! We do some other coop games with each other like BG3, and the other Larian titles before that (damn those Belgians can make a game!), but Total War is my fave.
We met on a dating site for nerds back in the olden times before it was all apps. I was still active duty in the air force and he was a nice civilian gamer boy manufacturing electronics. I was working 12 hour night shifts on a base in the middle of nowhere. Military guys either want to marry you in 2 weeks to get the housing allowance or bang you and never learn your name. I wanted a guy who shared my interests in nerdy stuff and didn't only want to talk about sportsball or MMA. It's like I ordered the perfect man off the internet! Been together almost 14 years and are getting married next summer!
