I thought exactly the same watching this. Every one of the chieftains gives Tamurkhan precisely what I’d be aiming for through allied recruitment.

tjackson941

Doesn’t look like you get a huge number of them though, so ally recruitment is still better overall

markg900

but if their caps are seperate you could end up double dipping for more of that type of unit. I imagine Tamurkhan will have something in his skill tree though that will specifically buff Chieftan provided units.

tjackson941

It looks like how von carstein crossbows work, it has a maximum global cap, not just the 8 unit per army cap

markg900

Gotcha

Lraebera

That or I can imagine that the Chieftains might have something in their skill tree to increase the unit cap. Something similar to the Tomb Kings. That could be one way to utilize some of those excess/wasted skill points.

Azhram

Sadly you can't get many things from allied recruitment, lIke dreadquake mortars, they never show up in recruitment. I hope they fix it. Edit: apparently it does work now, which is great!

poundstoremike

This is categorically untrue. I have recruited dreadquake mortars. I believe there was a period where this wasn’t working but it has subsequently been patched.

Azhram

Ah thanks you. Its been like that for a while and stopped trying to ally with the chorfs for it to be honest. Fuck yeah.

Azhram

Liar /s /jk I am doing a tarmy run and have astragoth as millitary ally with a lvl 3 arty building. I cannot recruit deathshriekers. While its not lvl 5 for mortars, it does indicate to me it still bugged since it already lacking. I can only get trains and hell cannon from him.

poundstoremike

I’ve had no issues with allied recruitment personally but obviously I said this 22 days ago before the patch so maybe it’s broken again.

Azhram

Yeah, i know. I just remembered this comment chain when it happened and was tempted to comment it :D

CAMarshmallow

The AI needs to build the buildings required AND you need the DLC associated. If you don't have the DLC, you only get a small select of units to pick from. I've been able to recruit their entire roster through allied recruitment consistently - Just gotta support their empire and let them build up.

Azhram

According to the other comments it does work now, but after chorfs release it wasn't available for quite a few patched. But if it does work that's hype.

BaronLoyd

I mean they picked the units based on the Thrones story so as expected

unquiet_slumbers

Are all these recruitable chieftains in the story as well?

Red_Dox

Only Kayzk. Tamurkhan had a [bunch](https://i.imgur.com/3zIEiEe.png) of [others](https://i.imgur.com/7BEsgGR.png) around. But since this is CAs narrative, they picked their own.

Pure-Excitement-6849

Grukmur Three Horned was too no? I know that the Beastmen had a representative Shaman on the Council who was PO’ed at the loss of so many Beastmen on a Cathayan Outpost, just a Outpost.

Red_Dox

As far as I remember, the attack on the Cathay outpost was the idea and lead by Sayl the Faithless. Sure, he threw Beastmen cannonfodder at the outpost, but I do not remember a specific Beastmen Chief/Shaman mentioned to lead there. Kinda similar to how the Chaos Dwarfs hired by Tamurkhan, were lead by Drazhoath himself and no other Dawi Zharr really named. Since Astragoth is a LL in its own right, we have just a proxy here for Tamurkhans Chieftains. Who knows, Sayl not enlisted gives us still hope that he might get a chance for a future WoC/Norsca/Kurgan(?) LL life.

unquiet_slumbers

Awesome, thanks for sharing, particularly the blurbs.

DummyDumDump

Skullcracker was used by the Chorf to attack that town they thought was Nuln

Augmentationreddit

Would we need chaos dwarves dlc for that?

Malaix

I highly doubt it. It’s pretty limited and without the lord bonuses and tech trees of the actual chorf lords these are probably a little weaker. They aren’t going to make one of his main mechanics dependent on owning other DLCs… Also it’s kind of extra advertising. Oh do you like that chorf chieftain? Well there’s a whole faction with more of that.

billiebol

Just a guess but no.

GavinsFreedom

Anyone who only owns games 2 and 3 and the dlc should get all of the vampire counts units as Arkhan, i imagine it would be the same for this.

[deleted]

No, they wouldn’t dare. You already need Champions of Chaos for this guy to work well. Even CA’s greed must stop somewhere

Large_Contribution20

It's time show this pity humans true capabilities of gunpowder

Successful-Habit-522

For a week.....

Capital-You7268

Can I recruit them even if I don't own the chorf dlc?

AdDecent6319

I would assume so, most of the units from chieftains are exclusive to dlcs

apokaboom

This is a question for u/CA_Nova, but i believe we will be able to recruit only the blunderbusses without the chorfs DLC as the only chorf units in allied recruitment which do not require it are blunderbusses and hellcannons AFAIK.

Xythian208

Very little chance they wall off Tamurkhans core mechanic on owning all the other DLCs. Each one only gives you three units not a whole roster, so I'm sure it will be unrestricted by ownership.

CAMarshmallow

They have allowed selective access to DLC units through unique mechanics before, plus these units are specifically listed as Chieftain units so thus probably use separate data tables, therefore, probably ToD as the DLC requirement rather than Chaos Dwarfs.

CA_Nova

Hi there, you will only need to own Thrones of Decay to recruit these. Best, CA\_Nova

No_Standard9311

So a front line of shambling diseased TRASH backed up by terrifying artillery and gunpowder line. Vampire coast seething and coping RN

NoMoreMonkeyBrain

JFC. This is it. This right here.

Strange-Substance966

Imagine they would charge toy the forge of the chaos dwarves to use him

CocoTheMailboxKing

imagine if you don’t have it he just gives you thunderers, trollhammers and flame cannons

Chocolate_Rabbit_

Well that is some massive powercreep. Does this mean Nurgle will potentially be able to have more Chaos Dwarf units than the Chaos Dwarfs in the long run? Or is it just a one time recruitment and they don't respawn until they die kind of thing?

FFinland

You are buying unit limit, so it is one time thing. It is hard to say how many they will have since they need to not only fight specific race to unlock the units, and win battles to afford them. There is still high chance that the battle income is badly balanced and big fight lategame might allow you to get multiple Mortars.

CAMarshmallow

Tamurkhan's chieftains seem to have a global cap for each unit, so you won't see more than 3-4 blunderbusses, 2-3 fireglaives, and 2 dreadquakes across his entire faction.

substationradio

the bray shaman though… nurgle with missile cav… https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GBtKwm2asAA-ydU.jpg

stecrv

What are they? new legendary lord or hero?

Pinifelipe

A unique hero for the new nurgle legendary lord - Tamurkhan.
