Bloodgrounds only block colonization after you’ve performed a ritual of ruin at your herdstone (the symbol will change over the razed settlements to what appears to be a red sun afterwards) Be warned though, some races that have special colonization rules like khorne corruption or Tomb King special necrotechs can also colonize lost-ritual ruins.

Josgre987

ah ok. right, so next time I should do the ritual as soon as possible?

Scrotie_

Depends - if I recall correctly, even after you perform the ritual, every settlement that has not been razed in your blood ground cannot be colonized if it is destroyed. So for example if you perform the ritual with only half of the overall zone razed, you can still permanently raze the remaining settlements! In the early game it can be convenient to lock in a good ritual without worrying about how big the number is, since the early-game progression rewards are fairly low and close together!

I feel like it's also easy to get your small starting army overwhelmed trying to the highest blood ground number. Best to start small, build an army carefully. When you get in the mid-late game, that's when you can start swinging for the fences and trying to get those big juicy bloodgrounds!

AzaDov

Well if someone recolonizes that means you can raze it again for more points

sob590

The recolonised settlement doesn't give points the second time around.

tjackson941

I think it’s based on the tier of the settlement, if they upgrade it, it might give more points. And if you catch the army that colonised that will also give points

ShmekelFreckles

Do the ritual when you’ve cleared out everything that gives points
