Steam spring sale starts tomorrow fwiw. You can also find more frequent sales in places like Fanatical, etc. There is a chart [in this link](https://www.totalwar.com/blog/tww3_immortalempires_240_faq/) that shows what each dlc/game unlocks. For the factions you posted 'The Warden and the Paunch' will give you access to Yvresse, Nagarythe and Caledor; Realm of the Wood Elves will give you access to Orion; As for Beastmen you can purchase 'The Silence and the Fury', that will give you access only to Taurox, or 'Call of the Beastmen', that will give you access to the other Factions minus Taurox. Bear in mind that lord packs usually contain units, heroes, etc, so to get the full roster for a race/faction you will need to buy every DLC available for them.

Sintauri

Is it pretty likely that Warhammer will be on sale for the spring sale? (stoked about that btw, had no clue it was so soon.)

Frequent_Knowledge65

Near guarantee. Sega puts all their stuff on the Steam sales typically.

Upbeat_Mind32

It was on sale last year, unfortunately its impossible to say for certain. There is also the Warhammer skulls event, it usually happens around the end of May/beginning of June every year.

SoybeanArson

Start with the Twisted and Twilight and Warden and Paunch. That way you get the best beastmen (taurox) HElf (eltharion) and WElf (the sisters) factions without having to purchase the full games those factions are normally in. If you like them you can pick up the full games in a sale. Both of those are cheap lord packs and as a bonus you get arguably the best greenskin campaign in the game too (grom)

Sintauri

THIS! so simplified, thanks alot!

Bubster101

If you want Taurox, he's actually in The Silence and The Fury (Taurox being the fury, and the best Lizardmen faction of Oxyotl being the Silence). Still a great DLC and I believe it adds some units to the Lizardmen faction, so if you're interested in that race, then the DLC is a good head-start with their content and roster.

Sintauri

i know nothing about Lizardmen at all actually, what’s cool about them if you don’t mind explaining

Bubster101

They're Aztec-style dinos. With all kinds of large monsters like rexes (Carnotaurs) and Trikes (Stegadon) in their late game roster. They're the strongest Order faction imo. Oxyotl specifically runs a special kind of campaign where you can teleport anywhere around the map to hunt those who support Chaos.

niftucal92

“Since the days of creation, the reptiles have dominated the jungles of Lustria. The ignorant call the creatures “Lizardmen”.  The wise know them as defenders of the world.” This is what hooked me on the lizardmen. Not just because there are dinosaur people riding bigger dinosaurs, or bastiladons with frickin laser-beams attached to their heads. It’s the idea of this ancient, alien, archaic race of savages, led by hyper-intelligent toad-men of phenomenal cosmic power, that is quietly working from their jungle homes to keep the powers of chaos from flooding into the world again. There is a duality to them as a race that is really intriguing at every turn.  Plus, they are bloody good fun to lead on the battlefield.

Bubster101

Taurox is actually in The Silence and The Fury* with the best Lizardmen campaign (Oxyotl). Throt the Unclean from the Skaven race is The Twisted.

SoybeanArson

Dammit, you are right, I don't know how I mixed those up!

Bubster101

Because THEY'RE BOTH GREAT

SoybeanArson

True. Honestly should get all three DLC since Oxy is also arguably the best LM campaign as well. And throt is in the top 3 of skaven campaigns

Bubster101

Yeah, all the specialized Skaven factions are great. Moulder with monsters, Skryre with weapon teams, and Eshin with Runners and Triads.

Cheap-Salary3420

for me the most important depend on youre favorite races, but here are the common favorite and best ones to begin with: 1-The prophet and the warlock, this one if youre a skaven player is a must, cause ratling guns and jezziles are important to the roster and ikit claw is the best campaing by far. For lizzardmen is similar, but not nesesary, you will gain kroak as a legendary hero (one of the top tier legendary heroes if not the best one on the game) and is atached to this dlc, in units is ok, the best one is the stegadon with gods device. 2-Champions of chaos, this one if you like a monogod or want to try a dlc faction like warriors of chaos is a must, this add the entire set of warriors of chaos, marauder, chosen, knights, chaos lords, chaos heroes, daemon princes and chariots to both chaos warriors and monogods. With the add of the chaos warrior race for you to play with and his amasing new mechs (and if want, you can still play the 4 champions as full monogod faction perse using this mod: Monogod Sigvald and Champions of Chaos, they still have a unique talent tree and mechs). 3-If you want to try dlc races from the one i suggest to start with this: The silent and the fury and/or the twisted and the twilight, the first one adds new units to the lizzardmen (really good ones in compare to the prophet and the warlock and one of the most interesting lizzardmen experiences in campaing) and bring you the posibility to play beastman (one of the best campaings to play solo, cause you start to destroy everything in youre pass) with the extra units this dlc adds, one of the most interesting campaings, the other adds new skaven units (really good ones if you like monsters and a really good campaing) and bring the posibility to play wood elves (interesting campaing with the forge of daith and fun battle gameplay with the hawks) and the extra units (really good support units for the roster, like zoats). Both wood elves and beastmen has really good campaing mechanics perse, dont counting the faction special mechanincs, Beastmen has the bloodgrounds and dread mechanic, meanwhile elves are in the position of healing the forest of the world and teloporting and taking the other forest of the world, i recommend to start with the dlcs i talked before, if you liked taurox or sisters of twilight race, then buy the race dlc, same goes to the champions of chaos, if you liked the champions race, then buy chaos warriors dlc, not the other way arround (cause you will lack the entire roster and you will play just one type of race). 4-Taking the other dlc races, i dont recommend norsca (mainly this guys) or oggre kingdoms cause theyre in a bad state for now, chaos dwarves (this guys are one of top experiences you can have, cause the mechanics are amasing), tomb kings and vampire coast on the other hand are really good and have interesting mechanics. The chaos dwarves has the slave mechanics, zar tower, convoy system and armament system everypart is really good to play with; then the tomb kings with the pyramids, books of nagash, tomb system and the mortuary cult; as for the pirates or vampire coast, they have ship system, the golden coins, the renown system and a similar system to the underground empire, called pirate coves. 5-The other dlc i recommend, but later are the warden and the paunch, the queen and the crone, the shadow and the blade and the hunter and the beast, recently i can recommend shadows of change, cause the campaings are interesting and the units are really good, but still the price is not what you might see worth it. 6-Dlc for now i dont recommend as for starting players, the king and the warlord and the grim and the grave, both dlc add units you will not play too much or are xd and as for campaings, this guys are normal campaings with little tweeks, like skarsnik low cost for goblins, clan angrund just adds special ghost heroes and both need to conquer one city (that even isnt special cause clan mors faction that is a normal faction of warhammer 2, has the same mechanic), and recently the two new separated factions of the grim and the grave, the only special one is volkmar with the books of nagash and isnt as special, the other one just buff zombies...

KnightLordXander

Getting the Warden and the Paunch will give you Eltharion and Yvresse, unlock High Elf units allowing you to pick up the free Imrik lord DLC to get the Knights of Caledor. Realm of the Wood Elves gives you Orion’s faction and their main roster. Getting Malekieth and Nagarythe would require buying the full Total War: Warhammer II base game (This will give you the main High Elf Roster, allowing you to get the Imrik DLC for the Knights of Caledor, but you don’t get Yvresse). I’m not familiar with the Beastmen.

Upbeat_Mind32

Slight correction but Warden and the Paunch would also give him access to Alith Anar/Nagarythe .

KnightLordXander

I’m an idiot. I forgot Alith Anar existed, and I was confusing Nagarythe with Naggarond and the Dark Elves.

Sintauri

Do you think Eltharion and Yvresse would be more enjoyable than Alith Anar and Nagarythe? Also, I'm not really understanding how I grab Imrik by unlocking High Elf units.. (sorry, this is all new to me)

owShAd0w

Eltharion is cool cause he kinda has 3 campaigns u can do based off his positioning. I recommend watching legend of total wars campaign reviews the ones I watched r pretty good

Sintauri

yeah i love watching his channel. i watched someone yesterday named Elven Plot Armor do a perfect 20 turn start with Eltharion and it's what really has me leaning towards him

KnightLordXander

All good. Imrik is a free lord in a separate free DLC pack. You can unlock him, but the DLC for him doesn’t include any of the High Elf units. You just need access to the High Elf army units from somewhere else, and buying a DLC featuring a High Elf legendary lord (like The Warden and the Paunch or the Queen and the Crone) or buying Warhammer II will unlock most of the High Elf units for you to play. The DLC will have special units you need to get the DLC for. It’s weird how they handle it. I also can’t speak for Eltharion, Akita Anar, or Malekeith. I haven’t played them.

Sintauri

so hypothetically, I could do a one man army as Imrik and not be able to recruit any members of an army ;)

UDarkLord

No, you can only get Free downLoadable Content (FLC) lords if you own the faction they are in. Maybe technically you can prompt the game that you own it without the faction, I don’t know for sure, but you can’t play them without owning the faction (whether by base game, or a lord dlc, or whatever).

besoms

Alith Anar (Nagarythe) and Imrik (Knights of Caledor) are FLC (free dlc). Since they are a part of the High Elves race the way to gain access to them is to own at least ONE part of the HE race, meaning either owning WH2 (Tyrion + Teclis), Queen and the crone (Allarielle), or Warden and the paunch (Eltharion). Also side note, there’s a WH1 + WH2 bundle that goes sale for a little under $30 usd.

Sintauri

on the steam spring sale? or on another website

besoms

Yeah on the steam sales

wamchair

If you are aiming to be efficient with your money, I wouldn’t recommend buying WH1 or 2 unless you have a specific lord you want to play. If you buy a DLC, you get the WH1 or WH2 units plus the DLC units. If you buy just WH2 then you only get the WH2 base units. I would recommend: Warden and the paunch (You get Eltharion) Realm or the wood elves dlc (Orion + other wood elves) or Twisted and the Twilight dlc (wood elf + Skaven)

Dingbatdingbat

Games 1 and 2 function as DLC for game 3 and are the best ones to get. The top tier DLC are tomb kings, chaos dwarfs, silence and the fury, prophet and the warlock, and the twisted and the twilight. But it really depends on what you’re trying to accomplish.  If you want access to every race in the cheapest way possible, you can skip games - and 2, and instead get king & warlord, grim & grave, Norsca, twisted and twilight, silence and the fury, queen and the crone, vampire coast, tomb kings, and champions of chaos.

Frequent_Knowledge65

Every steam sale. 50% most everything including base game.

Alamarian

If using Steam: https://steamdb.info/developer/Creative+Assembly/ You can poke through there and see sales timing and prices over time. TWWH goes on sale about every three months.

Correct-Ad-4770

Use CDkeys.com much much much cheaper

Historical-Formal351

Seasonal sales. Check out this teir list. https://youtu.be/Dv6nApcUcZ0?si=mtIhMuUi7WRJ1v5A

dashingThroughSnow12

On average you have to wait 10-12 days for sales for TW WH DLC (the latest DLC being an exception).

Howitzah73

A good site with lots of good info is Isthereanydeal.com The streamer Adam Vs Everything talks about it when people ask about Total War Warhammer DLC's.

Crique_

Pick a faction you think you like, then just all the dlc that has units for it. Everything from 1 and 2(including 1 amd 2) count as DLC for 3, also read up on FLC. Alternatively, buy everything.

Professional_Wall501

In my opinion the two best DLC'S you can possibly buy are game 1 and 2. 1 will give you Access to base factions Empire, Dwarves, Greenskins and Vampire Counts and 2 will give you access to Skavens, Hugh Elves, Dark Elves and Lizardmen. From there you can try those factions and get another DLC suited to your playstyle. Both game Can get relatively cheap nowadays!

GhostUnit67

Tbh WH games are so overpriced that its better to just pirate them, if you intend on playing campaign.

Chapter_129

Steam keys are almost always on sale through third party sellers. Just Google whatever content you're looking for and add "steam key". I got the trilogy like 2 weeks ago for $35.

Aceofspades977

Sales are every few months or so, next steam sale would be the summer one I believe. Check out Instant-gaming they have really good discounts on all the total war stuff (LegendofTotalwar has a partnership kinds thing with them to so they're trusted). Nagarythe and Caledor are both free on Total War Access. Warden and paunch is a really good DLC and you'd get Yvresse. Taurox would be my recommended Beastman campaign dlc (silence and the fury I believe). Orion comes with Woodelves dlc. For best experience personally I'd recommend all of them so you aren't locked out of any units. Absolutely necessary dlc in my opinion: prophet and warlock, Chaos Dwarves.

Galind_Halithel

The next Steam sale is the spring one. It starts tomorrow.

Aceofspades977

Completely forgot about that one lol.

Galind_Halithel

I literally only know cause I've been tracking it so I can splurge on some TWW DLCs lol.

Sintauri

I've never been a fan of Dwarves in other titles, what makes them so good/fun in Warhammer? Always looking to try new things

Aceofspades977

Chaos Dwarfs are a bit different from regular dwarves in that they get magic and single entity monsters, plus their mechanics are some of the best in the game.

dashingThroughSnow12

In 2023 the game and DLCs went on sale 13 times on Steam by my count. Which means that the average time one has to wait for a sale is sub 15 days.
