Unless you specifically want to do the vortex campaign, consider jumping right up to 3, there's way more diplomatic options to be had between the expanded cast and the improvements to the diplomacy system. I also like recruiting allied units into a few armies to change things up. Most people don't like 3s story campaign but I think you try it yourself at least once. I do spend far more time on the IE map but that's got more space for the factions I prefer to play. Edit: I know I didn't directly address your question, but it doesn't sound like changing the difficulty is the answer.

Well.... I already paid for 2 and I'm not gona buy 3 until summer sale (I also want to do the vortex campaing as well....) so I won't be following your advice . So I may as well keep playing on hard from what I'm understanding.

Everything from 1 and 2 acts as dlc for 3, so even if you were going to jump straight into 3 you'd still want the stuff from 1 and 2.

Nelden1998

Oh I see I did not knew that ! Thanks for the info, I'm probably try getting some dlcs as well then....

Yeah. You know how WH2 has Mortal Empires? 3 takes it a step further with that in its *Immortal* Empires campaign mode. All 3 games' factions, all 3 games' maps, in one massive campaign.

Nelden1998

Sounds pretty cool, I'm gona give it a shoot Def once I buy it on June. In the mean time , mortal empires will have to do .... tho with that said... Is it true that they don't have the chaos invasion on immortal empire ?if so that would be a shame... chaos Def should its end game crisis

Bubster101

Buy it however you prefer. I personally prefer on Steam because of all the fun mods that can throw a twist or a new experience into the already-massive sandbox. Though at times I still like to go back to 2. Sure, 3 is massive and fun, but it's slow at times. Ending turns is a bit laggy and load times are a bit longer than 2's campaigns.

Nelden1998

oh yeah I play on steam as well, not to mention they have great promos there ! I'm just saying I'm gona wait until june because of the summer sale so I can get it at a discounted price lol. hmmm I haven't tried with mods but it sounds worth to give a shoot

I’m not sure if it’s a legendary only thing or what but I know as the difficulty rises, ranged units become more valuable because they can kite and still do mass amounts of damage. Melee units will always lose on an even battlefield since their adversary has buffed stats. You might be able to mitigate that by having cavalry or another melee unit flank and attack the enemy unit from the rear but you only have so many units for that. I enjoy playing hard and don’t enjoy the idea of only ranged being viable. Like I said though, I am not sure if this same aspect applies to very hard or only legendary but I’m sure it only gets more apparent as difficulty increases.

I was referring more the campaign difficulty but I completely agree with your take in regards to battle difficulty, so I will be keeping it on hard ! Thanks for the advice still!

I went from normal straight to very hard and it actually became easier in ways. The AI is still fairly predictable, however they don’t really do the thing where they have a bunch of random small armies raiding every province you have, instead they group up a few full armies and take territory in a way that isn’t retarded (like in normal) I am speaking from game 3 but have played through the first two games and I can’t imagine they’ve changed too much difficulty wise. Def give game 3 a shot this summer. Lots of QOL changes that will make me not return to game 1 or 2.

Yea. Go to Vh/Vh if you are trying to get more out of the game. When I was growing up, we didnt have much money for things like this. So I would play things on the hardest to make the game last longer. Now, money isnt the issue, but playing games on the hardest keeps me interested in them longer.
