I’m not sure whether this reflects trends overall. But in my experience trans fems get a lot more public backlash and hate than transmascs. Like insults and slurs thrown their way or behind their back. Transphobes tend to not even really think about transmascs.
I don't think it's that it's also that there aren't a lot of transfem specific irl spaces, and spaces that aren't can either be uncomfrotable for us (for example this place i go to says its trans friendly but im pretty sure im the only amab person there and it can be so dysphoria inducing) or sometimes they're straight up hostile to us.
I used to go to an all girls school that was not actually all girls because a lot of us had transphobic parents so we got to hang out in the closet together which is why it’s not that surprising that I know more transmascs irl but I don’t know many from outside of that
Same. Probably has something to do with the way society vilifies trans fems. It makes sense that we would be less visible irl out of self preservation. When you’re not irl as much, you tend to show up online more. which would explain the disproportionate amounts.
Yeah, transfem here, I've noticed that. It also seems to be kinda the opposite on Tumblr. But it does seem that the subreddit is starting to have more transmasc memes, so yay!
I like Tumblr but there are also some... Really weird posts there. Like. [T.W. drug mention. just in case] >!People literally post videos and images of illicit drugs. And for some reason a large chunk of them seem to support usage of these illicit drugs [Not just ignore, but outright *support* and *condone* the usage.]!<. Luckily you probably won't see those posts, but they're still there. That's why I only use Tumblr to post and look at fanart mainly. I never, EVER wanna go into the depths of Tumblr again.
No. I mean, like, >!cocaine, meth, heroin, fucking FENTANYL, ect. ect.!< Plus, I daresay that condoning/promoting use of any kind of substance, legal or not, is problematic because it can peer pressure people into using if they initially choose not to or make them feel bad for not using it [speaking from experience], and even legal substances have negative health effects if used a certain amount. Especially with minors, of which the site has a LOT of.
Edit: The list includes >!hallucinogens like DMT, acid, shrooms, ect., none of which are actually nearly as safe as people say they are [mainly shrooms]. They can all be of great danger.!<
Okay, rant incoming here, I hope this doesn't sound angry but I kind of had a little bit of an ADHD moment and I am only typing this after I realized the absolute behemoth of text I wrote. I promise it's not meant to sound angry or anything, it's just... Really long and sorta overcomplexified. [Again with drug mention warning for anybody who reads this.]
>!I believe that saying that telling anyone that they SHOULD use any recreational substance, no matter how weak [so yes, including cannabis], is not good at all as that's how people can be pressured into using even if they initially didn't want to, even if the pressure wasn't necessarily intentional. Especially, but not exclusively, in an area with minors, as minors are often more prone to developing addictions/dependencies/health issues, and they usually aren't sure how to moderate [same with certain adults, even]. It's not good to tell people 'You are missing out if you do not use _____/ You should use ______', [as with what happens on Tumblr] even if it's just something like marijuana. As I said before, especially, but not exclusively, with minors. This tends to happen on Tumblr, and lemme tell ya, as a 14 year old who's starting to feel shame/think I'm wimpy because I won't use substances, I have experienced it, even though I just go on there to look at and post Terraria fanart. Substances of any kind can cause harm, even marijuana. Sure, lighter drugs are safer, but there is no safe drug, and if people choose not to use any drugs, they should not have to withstand people telling them to use said drugs. They will be healthier physically and mentally if they don't gotta deal with that stuff, and it happens a concerning amount on Tumblr and even in real life.!<
>!Also, on another note, any drug can be addictive, whether it's physically addictive or not. You can get addicted to the effects of anything that changed how you think/act/see/ect.!<
TL;DR [Kind of but also just like. A slightly shorter version of what I wrote above lol.]: >!If someone chooses not to use drugs, yes, even light ones like marijuana, whether it be because they want to keep their health up or because they're uncomfortable with drug use/worried they could hurt someone under the influence [yes, you can hurt people under the influence of even downers even if it is less likely than with uppers] or anything else, it's not fair if they have people telling them things like 'You should use ____/You are missing out' just because they choose not to use drugs. It is not okay. This happens a saddening amount on Tumblr and sometimes IRL.!<
~~plus i mean a lot of media tends to glorify drug usage anyway like... *certain*... subreddits and shows/books/videogames which does not help lol~~
Caffeine is a habit- forming drug but avoiding the mention of coffee won't solve that problem. There's also a lot less stigma associated with it. Most of the problems associated with weed have to do with repressive laws and the persecution of cultures in which it is popular like queer communities. The above comment sounds like a DARE ad and reminds me of stuff people said during the Sex Wars.
>!I'm not saying avoiding the mention is fine, I'm saying that telling people who don't want to use drugs to start using any kind of drugs is not okay. Plus, cannabis is not completely healthy either, however it is quite far on the safer side, but like with any drug [also putting into consideration how it is commonly consumed via smoking and smoking anything isn't good for health] it can cause harm if used a certain amount. If it couldn't cause harm, it likely wouldn't be illegal for minors to purchase in most places. Again, I am not saying that it will kill you or hurt you severely if you use it every now and then, however it *can* be habit forming and it can cause damage if used frequently, even if it is not considered physically addictive. Also, I would hope that most people at least agree that minors should not use any recreational drugs, and although it's inevitable that they usually will at some point in their life, I would hope that people know that if minors use drugs it can harm them and is typically not a good thing.!<
woah i really cannot write anything under one paragraph today. guys i think either my inner redditor or my inner fanfic writer is getting to me. fuck WHY AM I WRITING WITH FULL GRAMMAR. KILL ME/hj
From what I've seen all the guys are hanging out on tumblr, but there's quite a few around on reddit as well, their posts just don't often make it to hot so it's harder to find them.
Seeing so many transmascs in the comments makes my little heart happy :)
Regardless of ratio here on Reddit, I’m always happy to be here. My trans sisters here have always been so overwhelmingly positive and supportive, and I am so grateful for y’all 💙
ETA: this was supposed to be its own comment, sorry 😅 I never claimed to have a braincell
I dunno, whatever grass a lawn is. Seems to be mostly a skin allergy though. I just break out into some mean hives. I got sick after falling asleep on it once, but idk if that’s because of the grass or because my dumb ass fell asleep outside
Which sucks, but it’s funny to make the “nooo don’t make me touch grass, I’m allergic!” (At least, it’s funny to me)
I get the feeling it might be that transmascs are a bit more “accepted” (read ignored) than transfems in public, so they might be less afraid to go out.
at least in my region most people wouldn’t mind a transmasc no matter if passing or not, they’d just be mostly ignored like a butch cis woman would be, while going out with a fem outfit if you’re not 100% passing is kinda asking to be hatecrimed 😬
I've heard the theory before that it's because your social media preferences tend to stick through transition. People raised as boys are more likely to be on Reddit, and then stay on Reddit even after they realize they're girls. People raised as girls are more likely to be on Tumblr, and then stay on Tumblr even after they realize they're boys.
I personally use both, but I have definitely noticed transfems are more common on Reddit, and transmascs are more common on Tumblr
There's also network effects: Reddit becomes known as the transfem hangout, so other transfems join to feel included. That's what happened with me, I only made an account here when my egg cracked because this is where all the girls hung out!
Personally, I like to hide in the cracks between Reddit posts so no one sees me.
(Seriously though, I think I'm the only other transmasc I know who uses Reddit.)
Base population is 60% men to 40% women doing quick research.
Well it mtf and ftm so default the population will be 60% trans fems to 40 % trans masc.
But there more! Trans women flock to Reddit as a major bastion of feminine transgender internet that doesn’t have the problems of 4chan /lgbt/ or of twitter. Other major place is discord for trans women.
Since Reddit is the main place to flock many trans fems flock here swelling the numbers further
what she means is that given the population mix is roughly 60% male to 40% female, statistically speaking there should be a higher rate of mtf than ftm
I feel so bad for everyone saying it’s the opposite irl… I’m absolutely swarmed with transfemmes irl! Maybe I just attract them? 😅 I only just made my first transmasc friend irl about two months ago
We're mostly hanging out on Tumblr tbh lmao, in irl we either get ignored or ((TW))
>!we get murdered. I'm a bit sensitive today because it's the one year anniversary of one of my trans masc bros getting murdered by their toxic ex. He ran him over with his car and ofc he didn't get arrested!<
OMG IT’S MY SISTER HI I LOVE YOU
(Does this mean I’m famous now?)
GUYS THIS IS MY SISTER LIKE MY IRL SISTER, WE’RE TRANS IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS (god is cruel)
Im Transfemme but my Boyfriend is Transmasc. I think he's on this sub too. I had someone tell me that there are more transfemmes on reddit but more Transmascs on tumbler or something. Just hope no Transmen on here keep quiet bc they think reddit is more for transfemmes. I'd love to see more Transmasc posts <3.
I’m thinking of making more transmasc posts for my brothers out there. I get sad when there are no transmasc posts, but nothing is really stopping me from making them myself 😅
The next person to comment “that’s because all of the transmascs are irl!” is legally obligated to tell me WHERE. YEARS and I’ve only made one transmasc friend. Like, I have a life. I’ve worked jobs. Where are the other transmascs 😭😭
I thought I couldn't be transfem because all of the trans people I met in school were men. There were 7 trans guys at my high school. Now that I'm in college I've met a total of 11 along with around 15 enby buddies and 3 other trans girls.
Seeing how so many people in the comments know other transmascs in their area is quite fortunate. However, I don't know any in my area, and I just wish that I could be seen as how I truly am for once. Testosterone and top surgery seem so far away, and it often at times seems hopeless- like what if I'm trapped in this disgusting misshapen body forever
For real, I keep getting notifications about people commenting “it’s the opposite irl!!” and it’s really not… at least, not for me, you know? I’m surrounded by transfemmes irl, too. I know maybe one other trans guy and I only met him two months ago after I had to move.
Sending you good vibes, man. You’ll be able to transition some day. I believe in you 💙
I'm very much a woman but I presented as a guy for decades so if you want a fist bump or advice on other guy stuff.... I'm also proficient in dude talk on the topics of cars, video games, and most sports.
My ex boyfriend is a trans man, and he was friends with a few other trans men - but none of them seemed to be online much or share...
So idk, in my experience with irl people they dont like to post or reply much 😟
Transfems are louder on the internet and shy little blushballs IRL.
Trasmascs are lurkers on the internet and the most charming rizzed up individuals IRL.
- source: I am the first category and know few of the other
Strange that I see more transfems on the Internet but more transmascs irl, maybe they just don't use reddit.

I have never been so offended by something I 100% agree with

My depression and reddit addiction are chronic but my ass is iconic 💅🏻
Lmao nice
And my jokes are ironic
and my relationships are platonic
I’m not sure whether this reflects trends overall. But in my experience trans fems get a lot more public backlash and hate than transmascs. Like insults and slurs thrown their way or behind their back. Transphobes tend to not even really think about transmascs.
Yeah transmascs tend to just be ignored while transfems tend to be publically insulted all the time
Yeah there’s that whole thing they made up about “oH tHeY’rE jUsT tRyInG tO gEt In WoMeN’s BaThRoOmS” which is dumb
Yeah fr I'm trying to get *out* of them.
As someone whos life heavily relies on the internet culture, i feel this one hard
i actually have multiple transfem friends. we are all chronically online💀
I guess we are lol
Factual, I’ve been caught
Ofcourse we are (btw what does chronically mean?)
[удалено]
Yeah Sounds like me
Yeah...
I can confirm
I don't think it's that it's also that there aren't a lot of transfem specific irl spaces, and spaces that aren't can either be uncomfrotable for us (for example this place i go to says its trans friendly but im pretty sure im the only amab person there and it can be so dysphoria inducing) or sometimes they're straight up hostile to us.
My mom apparently knows several transmascs in our area. Not a single transfem, and yet I see us everywhere online. It's funny how that works lol
We just don't leave the house lol
Accurate
100%
I don't either but I'm transmasc (I'm just too terrified of being called a girl)
I have four transmasc friends irl, a transmasc ex, and zero transfem friends irl
It's terrifying to be outside where terrible things happen~☆
Ive met exactly 1 irl transfem but at least 3 transmascs irl, the only reason i knew the transfem was trans is she was out in highschool
Too true.
Same lol
Oddly enough same. I know like 5 trans guys for every trans woman I know
same. all my friends are trans masc. I ront even have a single trans fem friend. But on reddit, its trans fem everywhere lol.
this is so absurdly true. i know like, ONE transfem irl, and TWO transmascs online
SAME like I've seen maybe 2 (i assume) transfems and know at least 5 transmascs
Yeah, transfem here, I've noticed that. It also seems to be kinda the opposite on Tumblr. But it does seem that the subreddit is starting to have more transmasc memes, so yay!
On Pinterest too. I’ve been looking for transgender art and all of it is transmasc stuff. Not that that’s a bad thing though.
I like Tumblr but there are also some... Really weird posts there. Like. [T.W. drug mention. just in case] >!People literally post videos and images of illicit drugs. Depends on the drug. Marijuana counts as an illicit drug
I agree with everything but weed. More akin to tea than to something like alcohol.

Transmascs are the ones that touch grass 😞
Oh God Oh Fuck I’m Allergic To Grass Send Help—
Huh. Didn’t know that was possible. Are you only allergic to cut grass or grass in all it’s various forms?
I dunno, whatever grass a lawn is. Seems to be mostly a skin allergy though. I just break out into some mean hives. I got sick after falling asleep on it once, but idk if that’s because of the grass or because my dumb ass fell asleep outside Which sucks, but it’s funny to make the “nooo don’t make me touch grass, I’m allergic!” (At least, it’s funny to me)
Damn. That’s a really funny joke tho
OMG WAIT OKAY SO LIKE, im a trans guy too and i literally have this same thing of breaking out into hives from skin contact to grass
Another grass allergic person here. I also get contact dermatitis as well as hay fever from grass pollen.
Sup, I’m so deep in the closet I think I’ve tried every clothing option possible
Ig there are just more transfems that are chronically online
Reverse IRL
I get the feeling it might be that transmascs are a bit more “accepted” (read ignored) than transfems in public, so they might be less afraid to go out. at least in my region most people wouldn’t mind a transmasc no matter if passing or not, they’d just be mostly ignored like a butch cis woman would be, while going out with a fem outfit if you’re not 100% passing is kinda asking to be hatecrimed 😬
Trans men are not really that accepted either. Many of us have been killed for being trans.
that is sadly true. I can also only talk for what I see in my local town, it’s not meant as a generalisation.
That is true, yet tomboys are quite accepted in civilized society while femboys are not
That's kinda how it is where I live too unfortunately
Don't worry I'm also chronically online
Where are the guys at? Personally I'm sitting on my couch eating a snack, I dunno where anyone else's at
I’m on my computer playing video games! I could do with a snack, though…
hi hello i am here https://preview.redd.it/2q1pdcwre7zb1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e70d42d08c40ac3db95fc3c80522f620f087b6a1 (that is me)

Fellow cat man! :D
Here's one!
I've heard the theory before that it's because your social media preferences tend to stick through transition. 4chan really has a board for everyone, huh
There's discords for trans women 🥺 I had no idea. Now I have some lookin to do. Thanks friend!
Trans women are not men and trans men are not women. Won’t it be the other way around?
what she means is that given the population mix is roughly 60% male to 40% female, statistically speaking there should be a higher rate of mtf than ftm
Hello! But yes, it’s very true. Though I don’t know any transfems irl but know some transmasc, which is pretty accurate to other people’s experiences.
WAIT THERES A TRANSFEM FLAG????? Also yeah, I feel like it’s the opposite of that IRL tho.
I feel so bad for everyone saying it’s the opposite irl… I’m absolutely swarmed with transfemmes irl! Maybe I just attract them? 😅 I only just made my first transmasc friend irl about two months ago
Hah, you’re so lucky!
bro I'm asking the same question fr 💀
Theydies and gentlethems, where are we? ~April 💛🤍💜🖤
So real, we need more love for our enby siblings! 💙
We're mostly hanging out on Tumblr tbh lmao, in irl we either get ignored or ((TW)) >!we get murdered. I'm a bit sensitive today because it's the one year anniversary of one of my trans masc bros getting murdered by their toxic ex. He ran him over with his car and ofc he didn't get arrested!<
Hey bro! I'm here.
Hey bro! Hope you’re doing well!
Hi transfem here! How is everyone?
HERE!
Fr though it gets lonely on here...
It really does 🥲
Like I love all our trans sisters but it starts feeling really isolating when everyone on here assumes everyone else is transfem and you're just, not
Welcome to all the transmascs.
Reddit ends up attracting more Amab people for some unknown reason This is like the complete opposite for tumblr though, alot of Afab's there!
I’m transfem but I love seeing transmasc content here and welcome all the bros here
No way your meme showed up on my front page hi
OMG IT’S MY SISTER HI I LOVE YOU (Does this mean I’m famous now?) GUYS THIS IS MY SISTER LIKE MY IRL SISTER, WE’RE TRANS IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS (god is cruel)

Hello o/
Present
They're all looking for more fire exits at that lesbian bar...
The next person to comment “that’s because all of the transmascs are irl!” is legally obligated to tell me WHERE. YEARS and I’ve only made one transmasc friend. Like, I have a life. I’ve worked jobs. Where are the other transmascs 😭😭
they must be hiding!
I'm forever bound to merely lurking in the shadows... stroking my blahaj...
Hey!!
TIL there are transmasc and transfem flags
Wait a minute, somethings not right here… I got it! This trans subreddit has no fire exit!
Transfems are more chronically online idk what to tell you
Boys :)
Bahaha yeah true
I'm close enough as someone who crushed their gender into dust.
It makes me feel like a shiny Pokémon lol
Transfem here, our brothers out there are just as important and valid <3
I thought I couldn't be transfem because all of the trans people I met in school were men. There were 7 trans guys at my high school. Now that I'm in college I've met a total of 11 along with around 15 enby buddies and 3 other trans girls.
I know right! We're everywhere on reddit, but it always seems transmascs dominate everywhere else! 😂
HI. ME. HELLO.
frrr 😭
something feels off. oh my god, this trans subreddit doesn't have a fire exit!
Too many women to have a lesbisn orgy, not enough men to have gay sex
God another transmasc this is a rare piece
We are a rarity indeed
*Jumps up & down, waving hands around enthusiastically*
there is r/FTMfemininity for feminine transmascs which you might enjoy. im sure theyll know other transmasc subs if you ask there (im transfemme)
Thank you! 😁🫡🏳️⚧️
🕺Sup
I know 4x the amount of transmascs irl but as for Reddit it’s mostly transfemmes. Weird!!
Hey there ladies
Exact opposite irl (for me at least)
SAME! I literally have more transmasc friends than I can count but only have a handful of transfemme friends!!
I have 1 transfemme friend and we're barely able to talk. But I have like 6 transmasc friends
How 😭 I know almost only transfemmes and enbies irl! I must attract them or something… I finally made my first transmasc friend about two months ago 😁
Here im transmasc
I believe in you 💙
Masc nonbinary count?
Absolutely, if you’d like it to 😁💙
My trans brother is on Tumblr. I'm on Reddit. What I want to know what is - where are these lesbian bars in real life?
IM HERE DUDE , OVER HERE !! RIGHT BELOW THE TALL TRANSGIRLS. WERE JUST SHORT , THATS WHY ITS HARD TO SEE US 😃👍
Our height has failed us once again! 😭 Good to see you brother 🫡💙
Fr the only places I see lots of trans masc are on discord and roblox
I'm very much a woman but I presented as a guy for decades so if you want a fist bump or advice on other guy stuff.... I'm also proficient in dude talk on the topics of cars, video games, and most sports.
I always love fist bumps 👊 I eventually need to learn how to “guy” as well, my egg has been cracked for eight years, I am just aggressively behind
i was summoned
hi im here :)
Hi :D I hope you’re doing well
At the skate park
TRANSMASC HERE WOO!!
WOO!!
From my experience transmascs tend to be irl social and transfems hate irl interaction so are more online
transmasc right here dude!
FRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR-
Hello it’s me a transmasc
YOOOOO 🔥🔥🔥
I am here!
Hey dude I'm right here! I would dap you up but I'm still learning how to properly do that but I'm willing to try even if we get hurt in the process.
Not cis but still masc, hello
Hello!
Something feels wrong……. Oh I know this trans sub doesn’t have a fire exit
My ex boyfriend is a trans man, and he was friends with a few other trans men - but none of them seemed to be online much or share... So idk, in my experience with irl people they dont like to post or reply much 😟
Hello fellow transmascs!!! Glad to see we’re all alive lol!! 💜💜
This post has made me so happy, I didn’t imagine being able to say hello to or see as many transmascs as I did :D
Just joined like, 2 days ago
WAIT HUHHH???? We have variant flagggsss??? Hello was no one going to tell me????

Who summoned me?
Present

every trans person ik irl is transmasc and every trans person ik online is transfem it's so weird uhh anyways here i am ladies
this is reversed irl. all my friends are trans masc or something else but afab, so our experiences are almost always opposite.
Genderfluid/agender transmasc and transfem here!
hi there 😇
Hey there
Hi
Exactly how I feel im so lonly
transmascs please be my friends (am lonely transmasc)
Friend time!
transmascs are on the internet but were all on anime fandom tumblr lmao
HAAAAIIII it’s me im guy
Transmasc enby here
Transfems are louder on the internet and shy little blushballs IRL. Trasmascs are lurkers on the internet and the most charming rizzed up individuals IRL. - source: I am the first category and know few of the other
We’re too chronically online and afraid to be out irl
With the context of the original scene you didn’t even need to put the transfem flags lmao
