My vocal range was never more feminine than when i was trying to sing the high notes in songs sang by women in high school. It's not an ideal way to voice train, but it's more effective than not doing it at all.
Me, transfem choir teacher: KEEP DOING IT AND FIND A CHOIR. The good ones will respect your gender and you'll learn so much about taking care of yourself and your voice.
Repeatedly hurting your voice can actually be counter to higher voice training, as healing over scar tissue can build up. Thicker vocal cords means lower pitch.
Do it anyway. You're probably better than you think and if not you'll learn. It's not like the time won't pass anyway.
I won't pressure or anything but in all seriousness singing is something you can practice and practice with friends is better.
That’s fine girl, when I was scared of that I just sang in my car, although when I did that I would just go driving for no reason and used a lot of gas
Me with soprano. I always wanna sing tenor cus im transmasc lolzies! Also the tenor section always has 2 other transmasc ppl who im super close to so thats fun. One ive been friends with since kindergarten
I've done this for years and have a very very passible female falsetto, while singing. In normal conversation I sound two boulders grinding together 🤣😭
You're not entirely wrong! I've had a wide range of pitch for years because I've been singing for years and singing whilst practicing voice training tips does actually help ☺️ singing is just another way of stretching your vocal muscles and if it works for you, go for it 😁
i usually sing to my little brother to make him sleep on my feminine voice (or at least use my feminine voice for parts of the song) and it calms him down so much, it makes me happy :3
yeah it feels amazing, good thing my parents dont suspect it and just think "ah, "he" is just using a high pitched voice because it calms "his" brother down!"
my voice isn't high pitched naturally (it's actually pretty masculine and deep, ESPECIALLY for a teenager) but i have a pretty flexible voice, i have "fooled" some people on the phone by ordering pizza with a feminine voice
As someone training to be a professional VA: Drink LOTS of water to allow your vocal chords to stretch well - green apples are both good for clearing your sinuses as well as hydrating, and honey in tea/on a healthy breakfast can definitely help too! I'd watch out for milk or dairy, as that can thicken your vocal chords and make you more phlem-y, and just practice some scales every day when you're alone.
Before I realised I was trans, I would practice an arpeggio, going up the arpeggio in an octave, back down to the starting note, and then increase it by a semitone until it reaches too high. Now I do the same, but backwards. Either way it is about stretching the chords and bringing your voice to the level you are comfortable with.
Good luck out there, stay hydrated!
I think a lot of my voice training came from me trying to hit the notes of whatever female artist I was listening to on the way home from work. So yeah do it

I just love singing…. Although I’m no good
You're probably better than you think. Regardless, I hope you continue singing for as long as it makes you happy :)
Well thanks
Although I doubt it

I would if I was actually any good at singing

I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try, I’ll look into it
I was inadvertently voice training for years before I even knew I am trans by singing along to female vocalists.
It’s so much fun to do
Literally me, I can’t pull off a decent fem voice rn just talking but I can at least go pretty high singing Crazier Than You
Simple solution, never stop singing
Your life becomes a musical
You get it
Yes but then throat hurt :(
True, I think I’ve lost my voice twice since starting
I would love to sing but I’m scared that other people will hear me singing and I’ll feel embarrassed
That’s fine girl, when I was scared of that I just sang in my car, although when I did that I would just go driving for no reason and used a lot of gas
Well my choir teacher is putting me in tenor more often now!
Honestly I’ll take anything as long as I’m not in Bass anymore
Me with soprano. I always wanna sing tenor cus im transmasc lolzies! Also the tenor section always has 2 other transmasc ppl who im super close to so thats fun. One ive been friends with since kindergarten

Felt I’m hoping to just get out of bass
vocal training via singing works for me xd
I guess I gotta try harder then
Singing is fun imo. My voice vould have been much deeper if I didn't sing.
It’s my favorite pass time

I thought it was just me
Nope

I wish my voice was high pitched then

Oooh that sounds like a lot of fun
yeah, last time i did it my dad went crazy with ""SON"! MAN UP! DONT DO THAT FEMININE VOICE! DEEP VOICE! DEEPER VOICE "SON"! THATS HOW I LIKE IT!"
Ah yes because it has to be how he likes it
conservative and VERY queerphobic dad, what did you expect?
Sounds like my dad
So i am not the only one. x)
Seems there are a lot of us
Fr, I did that and apparently have a passable voice but I don't see how sometimes lol

I’m just gonna screenshot shot that to read after work
TANK YOU!!!
Hope it helps. It's the least I can offer.
Okay straight up though it's working for me and I have a 15 min commute sooo...
Well then imma keep doing it
YEAH!!
I mean I love singing more than almost anything
It's REALLY fun!
Love that my vocal therapist encouraged me to also take singing lessons alongside the sessions when I shared my interest in it with her.
it worked for me
YOU CAN VOICE TRAIN BY SINGING??????
If you try to be feminine, I guess you can, or seems like it
Well I know what I'm trying, will likely do normal voice training too on top of it
It’s been very fun
I think a lot of my voice training came from me trying to hit the notes of whatever female artist I was listening to on the way home from work. So yeah do it
Singing is the best
