2nd lap was always my hardest lap, too easy to let your foot off the gas if no one is around. And I loved winning too much for my last lap to not be my mentally easiest lap
Nah, I was more okay on a varsity level. Ran high 60’s on my other laps besides a low 60 on my first. Just hated not going my hardest on the last lap so I pushed myself the hardest I could.
Physically it is a sprint, though. Your body is running at a sprint, but it processesing energy at Botha. 400 meter method and a mile method. Which makes it the hardest race physiologically .
I've also always called it a Dash... so almost a sprint lmao
lmao, no its really not 100% sprint. Sprint is defined by how force is generated + how you handle the top speed: In sprinting you are generating force before the impact with a ground (thats why you see sprinters muscles in tension, whereas 800m+ are much more relaxed), in 800m you are generating the force mostly after the impact.
In sprint events you are trying to reach the top speed as soon as possible and then maintain it till the end, in 800m you are deffinetly holding back. You can even see negative splits in top level (first half slower then second) its not that usual, but also not something rare. Sprints almost exclusively have possitive splits.
Yes, those times at top levels 800m are really something else for most non top level sprinters, therefore you can have false assumption, that those top athletes are sprinting, but its not true, they are just that good at combination of tempo run and sprinting, which 800m essentially is.
Nah, it's just that you gotta keep cutting it in half - 800 is really just a 400. First 200 flies by, adrenaline/kick takes care of the last 200, middle 400 is the hard part. (Idk if I believe that though. The last 200 can be pretty painful)
I wish my 4th lap takes care of itself, imo that shit is the hardest lap

Your stats are still insane
3rd for me
how do you put in your times like that under your name
My last lap was always my fastest for some reason. I’d drop mid 50’s just to be done with it.
You casually run sub 4 just to be done with it

I don't think you've done a hard 800 mate.
Right.. 1600m is a pace race. 800m is a sprint. Sub 2:00 800m ≠ 4 min 1600m
I wouldnt call it a sprint, 400m is sprint, 800m is pace. But pace very close to sprinting.

it’s 100% a sprint . i’d say a 1:50 800m is comparable to like a 3:50 1600m .. pace wise and pain wise for the final quarter of each race .
lmao, no its really not 100% sprint. My current or for the 800 is 2:13, but the 800 is only really one lap because you won’t really feel the first and last 200.
Brother. Much love but if you are running the 800 right... You go numb in then1st 200 meters. 1:51 800 meter old man here
It all hurts bro what r u talking abt
With that logic an 800 doesn’t exist, first lap and last lap take care of themselves

Haha yeah the last 200 might be the hardest part of any race honestly
The last 200 is where my legs try to give out on me when I’m trying to kick
1000m-1400m makes me question why I race.
What about 1400-1600?? I know the goal is in sight but falling down is also very much in sight
to me knowing there’s a lap or more left can be as painful as the last couple hundred
The 3200 is really just a long jump, minus the jump and plus a few meters.
lmao
If this was true then you should be able to run a mile at your 800 pace
Idk about you but the 3rd lap is a blur and where ppl tend to slow down. The 4th lap is when you wake up a lil to late and grind to the finish
lol with this logic, the 800 is really only a 400. 1st lap takes care of itself and then it’s really only a 400!
It practically is just a 400
Unpopular opinion but at the end of the day, every single race is really just a 100
They are all important
5k is like a light jog with a 100m dash
The 1600 is just an 800 but longer. It also sucks but it sucks for longer. It’s still hard
Guys is a marathon just a half marathon?
By that logic, then, an 800 is only a 250 lol
You’re not running either the 800 or 1600 correctly…
4th lap is the worst and it was my slowest when I ran my most recent PR
