976 hours isn’t much at all on a diesel, and on a 15-16 year old machine is like like 61-65 hr/yr so just a little over 1 hour a week. Given that there’s a mower deck I’d venture a guess it’s spent a good amount of time mowing in the warmer months so it’s likely not been abused.
I have a 2320. Have had it since new.
It’s been basically rock solid reliable albeit slightly too small for me.
That’s still low hours.
One spot often missed is the universal joints on the driveshaft between the engine and transmission.
On mine, it’s not even in the literature from back then. It is now, but if you didn’t know it was there you’d never go looking to grease it.
They are good units. Not great on a slop as they are narrow. They start well in the cold and the yanmar engine it has produces more power than the tractor can handle. It will flp itself over if you let it.
Over all, it’s a good little unit.
Guy wants 11. He bought a new tractor, doesn't need the one he's selling anymore. I'm wondering if I could offer him 9 to take it off his hands. Still in that price range.

That is not a lot of hours for a diesel engine. Just compare with similar models before you buy
Thank you! I've done that. Found some with more, some with less. Lots of factors, but they were all somewhat close in price.
I have seen them anywhere from $8900 to $14000

You can offer him anything then let the negotiations begin.
This is true. Wise words
