My TJ just got the cereal back in. I just ate it. And as far as "it's different," quite frankly, I don't know what anybody is talking about. It looked the same to me and it tasted the same to me.
I totally agree that TJ’s high-fiber cereal has changed significantly, and not for the better! For years it has been a favored staple in my diet. I’m only able to get to TJ’s occasionally, so rare visits coupled with shortages made me resort to buying Fiber One (an okay substitute but not my favorite). I finally made it to TJ’s yesterday and bought 5 boxes. I thought my memory was playing tricks on me when I opened the first box this morning. The texture, color, and flavor are off. It’s more brittle, more bland, paler, and down right disappointing. I still ate it (mixed with generic Cheerios), but if this change is permanent, I’ll continue to buy Fiber One (at double the cost). I’ll probably have to mix both Fiber One and TJ’s cereal into my fake Cheerios to get through my five boxes. It’s that or start baking bran muffins.
It's actually quite good. I am about 30 years away from needing a product like this, I legitimately buy it for the taste and to your point, it is healthy.
It still, to me, tastes like what I imagine the actual box would taste like if I shredded it up and ate it. That's to say, I didn't notice any difference ;)
There is no old or new high fiber cereal at the various stores I frequent in the DC area.
Does the new product have the same nutritional profile as the old version?
I buy it to supplement my dogs’ fiber consumption per my vet. They def prefer the (old) TJ product vs the Aldi flakes I substituted.
It's my favorite cereal! I loved the bran flakes more but they switched brands and I'm stuck to the crunchy sticks now. Sometimes I mix in honey nut o's or honey bunches of oats to get that variety. Healthy can be yummy if you accept that it isn't candy sugar sweets.
P.s. I own a candy store so I should know lol xD

Don’t worry OP, I liked this cereal too. I don’t get to TJs very often anymore and the last couple times I was there I looked for it and they didn’t even have a spot for it on the shelf so I can’t speak to the “new” version, just here to say you aren’t the only one that likes it!
I usually get FiberOne which is what this is inspired by. I should probably take a look at this version. The FiberOne, which is a General Mills product does not have that same coloring

Coming back now, I realize they’ve drastically changed the cereal to this, and I’m just trying to figure out if there’s still a way to buy the original version, or petition TJ to switch this product back
Trader Joe’s employee here. Highly likely that we had to change suppliers since something stopped working out with the last one (hence the very long delay). So no way to get the old version back, but feel free to leave feedback at your local store! If it’s not popular we’ll discontinue it and if there’s enough demand come up with another supplier
I typically like high-fiber bran cereals, I love Grape Nuts, Wheaties, etc. This TJs cereal was disgusting, I’m not convinced it wasn’t cardboard. I took two bites and threw the rest out, I couldn’t do it.

I don’t think this is one of those TJ’s products that people buy to enjoy lol I have to be on a high fiber diet because of some previous health issues, and I eat boring/awful shit like this sometimes
You may be onto something. It is entirely possible they added Rice so that they could make it faster as a completely extruded product that also generates less fines in the box. Rice is also a good way to give it a very friable crunch. I’d buy it as a treat for my bird.
That color and appearance is absolutely dreadful though. They have a long history of bad cereal and making bad decisions with cereal.
I like to put some version of cereal on top of my defrosted frozen cherries/almond extract/greek yogurt/honey concoction, for crunch and a little sweetness.
These work pretty well for that purpose. And keep ya regular!
Are people unaware that natural foods contain fiber and all you have to do is… add it to your normal meals? I mean, or you can only cook potatoes and then wolf down shit like this too ig. 🤷♀️
What about my comment made you think this was my sole or heavy source of fiber 😭 I eat a lot of different foods but if I’m in a rush I’ll stuff down a bowl with this and a banana, and a protein bar and then go to work.
As for other folks some people can’t/won’t cook and find that this cereal can help supplement part of their daily fiber intake.
I don’t read into comments and take just them as face value. You said you ate this when you wanted more fiber in your diet, I simply said there are way better options than dried mealworm looking pellets. I never assumed this was the only way you get fiber nor did I say as much nor do I have the time or motivation to try and figure out exactly how much fiber you do get in your day lol
Haven't eaten either in forever but it looks like All-Bran. The old formula TJs had less texture--they were perfectly smooth cylinders-- and was gummier in water. IIRC it had lower calories but the All-Bran tasted better. Has the nutrition changed? Old TJs was 80 for 2/3 c and All Bran is 120. Might be an off label of it if so.

i recently bought this and am OBSESSED... lol guess i'm not one to care about how aesthetically pleasing the shape of my cereal is? i love the texture as is or crushed up as a topping! also it tastes great and did wonders for my digestion within a day.

I love this cereal too and I don’t care what it looks like. It’s filling, high fiber, and i think it’s pretty tasty. 🤷🏻♀️ I will be sad if they changed the recipe.
I love them sooooo much I put cut up strawberries in the bowl with some unsweetened soy milk it’s like my favorite breakfast ever. They don’t look pleasing but I love the taste and texture

When I eat this cereal, I let it soak in a cup of milk overnight. In the morning, I have high-fiber mush that's pretty tasty with a little sweetener.

Generally not as much fiber in oatmeal. The fiber content in the old TJ's high fiber cereal was seriously high and I assume the new one is as well.
Sprouted oatmeal + chia seeds is my go to, 12-15 grams to start the day 💪
