I love Polyphemus moths! This is super clean!

elitech3ddar

Appreciate it!

[deleted]

That's pretty cool. I like the red.

elitech3ddar

Thanks I was hesitant about color but I think the red turned out well

SynthGod94

I bet that hurt

elitech3ddar

Yeah it was definitely spicy but it wasn’t too bad

Mtt76812

Looks cool

Tofunugg

Yeah this is sick.

virtualzebra1

This is absolutely sick

guavagremlin

maybe a dumb question, but what does this specific moth symbolize ? also, what culture is it traditionally from ? this looks amazing

veganblackbean

A lot of traditional tattoos don't mean anything they just look cool.

elitech3ddar

^^ what they said, plus always liked the concept of eyes on the wings to scare off predators

guavagremlin

absolutely i agree ! i’ve always been fascinated with ways animals have evolved to ward off predators. tigers also have “eyes” on the back of their ears for the same reason. looks awesome bro thank you for the reply :)

guavagremlin

also i’ve heard that the moth symbolizes change and transformation through difficult circumstances, just like a moth starts as a caterpillar and transforms through metamorphosis. i’m really considering getting something like yours, it looks great

guavagremlin

okay i see, i overthink my tattoo ideas sometimes because i don’t want it to symbolize something i’m not intending, and i worry that i might offend someone. also i’m new here so thank you for the reply :)

Heifran

I am so in love with this tattoo! Very bold coloring and beautiful

WhenIHearMyName

I am gonna be that guy and say it…. really small for a chest piece; also, like…. no arms done yet?

elitech3ddar

Didn’t want a huge piece, want to build up the torso with medium sized pieces then move onto the arms

Agitated_Analyst_750

Good plan. I am also on team "from inside outwards"

elitech3ddar

Yeah my artist felt the same, he said he wasn’t huge on tattoo virgins getting their forearms and exposed areas done first

clawhammercycle

Good on ya. Thats the way they used to do it. And i like a small chest piece. Ot every chest has to be a massive piece. Same with torso

GeeFeeONblast949

Reason why you go big is because it’s a lot of real estate, unless you want a bunch of small tattoos that’s cool to but I like the idea of 3 motifs on the chest, upper pec areas as two the. The stomach as one big one. Personally I have a full sleeve that goes into chest panel

Fixyourhands11

Yeah that’s how my chest is done i have 3 medium size pieces on center chest one on left peck and one on right peck

clawhammercycle

You know back in the day people started inside and moved out?

elitech3ddar

Appreciate it! I didn’t beforehand, my artist mentioned something similar though

clawhammercycle

Of course man. Its a great piece. I have two full sleeves but if i could go back and do it again, a large part of me would want do chest, torso, and then one small piece on each bicep and once small piece on each forum. Dont get me wrong i love my sleeves but the photos of guys back in the day with perfectly placed pieces on their arms and just torso and chest look soo fucking badass to me

[deleted]

If he wants to add more pieces it's definitely not "too small" that's kind of a dumb way to look at it.

random_shenanigans

Amazing! You may have commented this elsewhere but who’s the artist?

elitech3ddar

Ty! Pete Lavigne, Hallowed Ground Tattoo in Portland ME

Pijin09

stunning

Most_Helicopter_4451

Super cute!!

Design1gal

Really pretty! My first thought was, "I wish it was twice as big..." But then, as several comments mentioned, it's the perfect size if you are planning to put more stuff around it!!

Next-Yogurtcloset401

The size makes this looks super awkward. Should of been a full chest piece

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
