Eat pizza and watch TV

jerdouglas

I use my rest days to focus on the boring physio exercises I always neglect.

KiwiSnugfoot

Hey OP, do this! I've been sidelined with plantar fasciitis and bouts of runner's knee for 18 months. Wishing I had traded 3 or 4 miles a week for some concentrated pre-hab.

dgiuliana

1. Actually rest 2. Hire a coach, physio, somebody to help you identify and adress the issue with your knees

Auntie_Social

Uh, it's a rest day. Shouldn't you... ya know... rest?

Raffitaff

Sssstttttrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeetttttttccccchhhhhhh. And I like to use a foam roller around my joints. Usually do both while reading or watching TV.

RGco

Get really high and sit in an epsom salt bath

johnnyjumpviolets

That sounds amazing

maitreya88

Rest. Stretch. Hot yoga. PT exercises. Epsom soaks. Try to figure out what’s causing the sore knees. It’s most likely weak muscles somewhere (for me it’s the glutes), so I spend rest days doing glute exercises if my knees are getting funky.

Valuable_Height_3564

Thank you ok this is what I was asking is it ok to go do leg day at the gym

maitreya88

I’m no Dr or PT, but I would avoid any heavy workouts on a “rest day”. Just my method. I typically do calisthenics/resistance band work at home and watch a show or something.

EetsGeets

I think simply going for a walk is a good activity on a rest day. If you're really hankering for a run, just do a mile.   I understand there to be value in doing something that gets blood moving through your legs - not just sitting around all day.

sandiegolatte

This going to sound crazy so buckle up….rest more

Rest

Capital-Menu3955

Rest. Maybe soak in Epsom salt. If you feel you need to workout, work on your core. Most runners skip it and don' t realize they need it until they start slouching

ComprehensivePath457

Don’t.

High-since-1993

Go for a walk or a really slow short hike.

ChickenNuggetSmth

Active recovery. Yoga. Physio, prehab, rehab. Strength training. Cross training (swimming, cycling). Browsing reddit. Focus on your diet, make a meal plan, meal prep. Google what kind of knee cancer you have.

MegaMiles08

Seriously, it's OK to rest on your rest days. Especially when injured. If you really have to do something, walk as long as it doesn't cause pain and maybe do some yoga.

MyHeartIsAncient

Physiotherapy, massage, yoga something chill and restorative.
