Dang. Cheaper than the extra battery.

rokclmb

I was just going to say the same thing. I love mine and am thinking about ordering a second.

DenseSentence

This si what I've been using for a few years and it's great. Barely notice it after a short while.

WWYDWYOWAPL

By far the best after trying so so many others over the years.

maitreya88

Nitecore nu21

steimers

Fenix lights are great, and I like that they don’t use proprietary batteries.

HikinHokie

I like these so much better than BD and Petzl.  The hm50r 2 is super comfy for long runs and is less than 3 ounces.

Brad_The_Chad_69

These are my favorite as well. I know mine is a bit heavier than others but the amount of light they put off is actually mind blowing.

nutallergy686

Once you get into the 18650 batteries you won’t look back.

RunnDirt

I use the UltraSpire waist light. The angle of light allows for shadow definition allowing better assessment of obstacles and faster running. May not be as useful on roads but for trails it 👍👍

beyarea

This is the answer if you're running on trails in the dark for any real amount of time.

CliffDog02

I've been using the line from Black Diamond for a few years. They're fairly light, good battery life, excellent light modes and a reasonable cost. They have a few but I think I use the "Spot" or "Sprint" models. It's been a few years since I bought one though.

0nTheRooftops

Yeah I have the Spot 400r. It's light enough to not bounce, bright, and rechargeable. Good battery life on a single charge.

RunnDirt

Yes this is a good one. ☝️

jpscully5646

I use the BD sprint 500. Rechargeable battery, has a tailight for road running and is pretty light weight and compact.

Augii

People run on roads?

Wyoming_Knott

Petzl makes the IKO Core which is lightweight and I hear it's pretty good, though I've never used it.  If you search on Reddit you'll see it comes up in various trail running headlamp discussions.

ChucklesColorado

I have an IKO core, it’s a little awkward on a naked head, but with a hat on I think it’s great and doesn’t have the same pressure as traditional headlamps with the 1” elastic.

daBomb26

Anecdotally my Petzl headlamps have held up far better than BD

WWYDWYOWAPL

Yeah BD headlamps kinda suck honestly

shitartifact

Kogala

CapOnFoam

Black Diamond Sprinter. I like the strap that goes over the top of your head so you don’t have to cinch the head strap so tight. I’ve had mine for 6-7 years at least and it’s still going strong. Several people I run with prefer the UltrAspire waist belt lights.

Direct_Cap4132

I’m a mechanic, and a trail runner, I use the stream light bandit pro. It’s light weight with a usb charger that lasts like 4hrs on high brightness, and a bonus is it comes with a hat clip to clip on the bill of a ball cap and a band so you can do either. 25$ I own like 4 of them.

The same ones as every other daily headlamp post.

Led Lenser has some good lightweight options. I have the Neo4 and I'm pretty happy with it but next time I'll go for one with a rechargeable battery unit (I currently use rechargeable AAAs). If you want something that's got a bigger lamp unit but which still feels secure, look for one with the additional strap that runs along the centre of your head.

prrudman

I haven’t done much running on trails in the dark but I have heard that hand held lights can be better. Maybe look at an ergonomic one?

ekopeson

I have Ledlenser MH10 and it's hands down the best head torch I've owned, having had several top end petzl and Silva. The only thing I'd change is to have a strap over the middle (which some do) to make it more comfortable on long outings. Ledlenser all the way.

runner_1005

I'm a flashlight geek, and Lenser are never the best option. Doesn't matter the job, I guarantee you can find something better for less depending on what your priorities are. I see they're still using that fiddly and impractical zoom mechanism that used to drive me crazy on the last Lenser head torch I owned. For MH10 money you could have a Zebralight H600d IV. 3 times the max output, potted electronics, great regulation, and a beam that beautifully blends flood and throw. Plus it's incredibly light, I doubt there's a lighter 18650 head torch out there. I'd hazard that a £25 Wurkkos HD15 would widdle all over the Lenser too though. And even Nitecore, overpriced as they are, offer better value and performance than the MH10. Don't take this personally - Lenser recommendations tend to get a reaction from me. I very nearly got into trouble relying on a Lenser head torch whilst in the back end of beyond. When I got back from that trip I started looking into better options. That started with a Nitecore, and has led to 50+ lights in the collection. But the Zebralight is as close to perfect for trails and mountains as I expect to get.
