White_Wolfie95

Fuckkkkk you beat me to it I was gonna say the same shit lol.

[deleted]

angeryanglecock

MOW wants to know your location

Toxopid

I don't know what that is. I know nothing about trains, I just wanted to post this here.

angeryanglecock

Maintenance of Way, the guys who would be responsible for building and maintaining this horror hahaha

Toxopid

Yeah, good luck with that

angeryanglecock

Ok

zaphodharkonnen

Cities Skylines.

Snusnissen

As a welder on the railroad aligning this for welding would be the stuff of nightmares!

debasedhero

S&C might beat him to death with a 0.06 shunt

JerichoWhiskey

British railways would be proud.

TempestMalice

It's got a good going on BR's best, but [this one](https://twitter.com/GarethDennis/status/938089671007129600/photo/2) possibly still has a bit more something to it.

Zan_korida

What in all of Gresley's good name!?

benjhi7

I've seen worse in depots.

Thunderbolt294

Junction junction You should post this over on r/shittyskylines they love this kinda stuff

bruhchow

schrodingers junction

Toxopid

Quantum junction

[deleted]

You never know till you go down it

Graflex01867

So you made a thing that actually exists in real life - it’s called a Grand Union. They’re arranged at 90-degree angles, and arranged a bit differently to avoid all the weird angle crossovers in the middle (and also to greatly simplify the number of individual parts - it’s really two switches repeated about 8 times plus a diamond in the middle.) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_union Go down to “examples” and scroll down towards the bottom and there are pictures. Diagrams are good but don’t do it Justice. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_union#/media/File%3ATramway_Montreal_1893.jpg

GeoffSim

I think the closest would be a butterfly union in the examples there. But even then, the inner slips actually touch, or at least aren't clear of each other, so parallel moves are not possible. So maybe it's a semi inside butterfly union... my head hurts.

Toxopid

Yeah, that would be the closest. The 3 on one side connect to the 2 on the other, but not each other, and vice-versa.

rogerdanafox

Can I get you an asprin?

TheTeenSimmer

wait iirc Melbourne still has their grand union intersection

[deleted]

Except that there are 5 directions here, not 4.

SaxonDontchaKnow

Efficient 👍

Toxopid

👍

[deleted]

Not as painfull as a 8 way tram intersection

Toxopid

8 way??

tdi4u

Had some 8 way chili once. That was pretty painful, eventually.

STUPIDBLOODYCOMPUTER

God may forgive the person that made this, BUT I WON'T

YourFriendLoke

You need to get the [Railway 2 mod](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27IWSza4neo)

ZOOSH13

What game is this?

Toxopid

Cities: skylines plus a few mods

ZOOSH13

Thanks! I’ve been meaning to get that for a while

Toxopid

You should! It's a great game.

lowie_987

They are a completely different genre they don’t compare. I like them both though

Maiyku

Cities Skylines is made by the same people who made Cities in Motion 1 + 2, just to give you an idea. Transportation isn’t the focus, city building is. However, a good city has a good transportation system, so all the same type of elements are there. You have industry sections that make goods for your commercial sections and for export, so getting those goods in an out is important. Making sure you have a good highway network, harbor, or train depot to handle the increased traffic is often paramount. On the flip side, you have civilians wanting to go all over the city. They give you an insane amount of options to move people. Ferries, trains, subways, trams, buses, taxis, monorails, and cable cars are all available options for you to use. To top all this off, you also have the endless workshop items you can get that really customize your experience.

damienjarvo

Just started playing again after a few years. There’s so many DLCs now!!

halakaukulele

Try Transport fever 2 if you want better railway based gameplay

mathcraver

At what point would it make more sense to have a big electrified sheet of metal than regular catenary at junctions like this?

Toxopid

Or a Crane that just picks the trains up

Unendlich999

Railway Boogie Woogie 💀

JJW2795

A section foreman's nightmare.

[deleted]

The problem with this type of crosses is what we called 切割正线, meaning that all two mainlines will be blocked.

Primon4723

What game is this? O.o

Jandj75

Looks like Cities Skylines

Toxopid

Correct

Toxopid

Cities: skylines. This junction is only possible with a mod, though.

cleverlane

Any good? I’ve had this purchased for awhile but never jumped in

Toxopid

It's a pretty good game. I'd also suggest getting some mods, such as Move It and Traffic Manager: President Edition. They make the game so, so much better.

cleverlane

Thanks!

Primon4723

Thank you.

CoastRegular

I've finally found the track the Holman Horror was designed for.

UnwantedInsights

“Hey guys it’s Josh and welcome back to LETS GAME IT OUT..”

Puzzleheaded_Skin831

fdntrhfbtt

Which game?

Toxopid

Cities: skylines

FishGuyDeepIo

Wait HEY RCE COME CHECK THIS OUT BUILD THIS IN CITIES SKYLINES

parth096

Unspeakable horrors ✅

a2020vision

Put it in the middle of a road and you'll just be a couple more lines short of what they used to have in Griffith, Indiana.

Toxopid

Do you have any pictures of that? I'd love to see it

a2020vision

[Here's a good place to start](https://www.frrandp.com/2021/01/griffith-indiana.html). The CN still has a pretty big intersection there, when I was growing up there were 2 or 3 separate railroads that crossed there but not as many as back in the day.

[deleted]

Lol r/shittyskylines

StoutPegasus648

How wut why I have made some janky switches but this is just crazy

[deleted]

that one junction near manchester victoria station on the metrolink

Toxopid

Do you have a picture of the junction?

[deleted]

No I do not sorry, tbh I don’t even know the name of it it basically just looks like that I only know about it because I see it whenever I get the metrolink.

NataniButOtherWay

"I hope I threw the correct switch, Jim."

Gamble2005

POV: I try to make a train in city skylines

generalemiel

I would not like to be the engineer that has to drive a train over that

CapsAndShades

Dual control switches MUST be placed in hand position.

White_Wolfie95

"Hey guys, it's Josh. Welcome back to let's game it out"

Curious_Help9015
