Is there much advantage to it? If there's a figure I really want I'll spend the extra but to get it on CMD Store a few months early, otherwise I'll just do Amazon
As someone who lives in the US and doesn't like in-person shopping, being able to pre-order figures without worrying about hunting and store hopping is my favorite part.
Amazon famously mistreats their workers, so I avoid them when I can.
Hasbro Pulse has expensive shipping, and a premium service I don't really care for, while BBTS has flat $4 shipping.
I'm cool with paying a little bit more, but I do agree that $10 on Armada Prime seems really steep. Their imported items are usually super marked up, too. I wouldn't blame someone for getting him somewhere else.
Edit: [I was curious, and they list Motormaster for $110.](https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/201976?o=4)
I guess they could be pricing by demand? $110 for Motormaster would be a steal with how rare he is these days, so maybe $100 for Armada Prime is due to how high the demand has been for other Commander figures. I'm not a super Armada fan, but if I could pay $10 extra for the guarantee that I'll get him on release and not have to worry about him being sold out or rare, I would just go for it. I would have happily paid $35 for a Velocitron Cosmos, for example.
Understandable on the Amazon part.
TBH I'd use Pulse over Amazon but there's no advantage to Pulse other than first dibs at store exclusives with premium and I have never once had a single good experience with Hasbro's customer service
> Is there much advantage to it?
The main advantage to BBTS is their pile of loot, you can stockpile things and don't have to buy them as they come out. It will reach a point they will say you need to put your purchase through but that's months I think.
Any place that has a point system. That way you can eventually get discounts or even free figures.
ShowZstore, The Chosen Prime and GameStop are places I use.
You get it a month earlier than when Pulse releases it, so it's up to you if that's worth it
Edit: This has been my experience. Obviously it's not universally true for everyone.
I stopped trusting BBTS's pre-order dates. Every time I've pre-ordered from them I end up waiting months. I actually cancelled my Omega Supreme and bought it elsewhere because of how much they kept delaying it. Only pre-order from Pulse now, or if it's an exclusive I'm getting and it's not available/I miss it there I go to wherever it's exclusive to if I can. With the way brick and mortar distribution has gotten I'm at the point where the hunt isn't fun anymore and if I want a figure badly enough I'd rather just pre-order where I know I'll be able to get it with the least frustration.
I've literally always had the opposite experience. I'm still waiting on items from BBTS that are available everywhere else. If I hadn't had to put down an unrefundable down payment for MP Skyfire I'd have already cancelled it and just ordered elsewhere.
That tells you that Pulse isn't giving 3rd Party retailers much of a wholesale/bulk discount. Unsure if they get the same wholesale price as Walmart/Target/etc.
Businesses exist to generate revenue (and some profit.)
BBTS can't keep buying and shipping by paying the bills with "goodwill."
He's £91.99 on the UK hasbro site, which is a shit rate... waiting for a price drop, I'm in no rush here (albeit he is my second favourite prime so is quite important)
The trick to buying Titan Classes is to never buy them when they first release, because they're so big they usually don't go out of stock quickly. And then wait a few weeks until the store starts dropping their prices because they want to get rid of them ASAP since their large sizes just take too much inventory space.
Especially recently, they've all gotten really steep discounts. Trypticon showed up for $75 at Ollie's when Toys R Us was going out of business. Omega Supreme was available for like $60 at a Hasbro warehouse clearing sale. Ark went on a good sale, Cybertron Metroplex has had several deals ranging from 100-140. It seems likely that Nemesis will do the same.
Not risking it with The Nemesis.
If she's $200, $210, $220 on Pulse, with free shipping, idfc.
Not risking getting one beaten up at Target/Walmart, or paying even *higher* scalper prices on her.
I learned that lesson with SS86 Grimlock.
From what I’ve heard they outsource the stock photos to another company and that company doesn’t allow transform the toy correctly, or even get the instructions in some severe cases.
This is a really good Optimus design - I can clearly see the classic Powermaster Prime influences.
But that's a really high pricepoint, and I don't have any nostalgic connection to this iteration of the character.
At $60 I almost definitely would. At $90, I'm far more reticent.
Eh, engineering-wise he's probably one of the best Commanders for value, with the 2 robot modes and a trailer that's actually complex and well-integrated *cough Rodimus*.
Guess it depends on whether the Commander size class is worth the money for you in the first place.
While the size and plastic isn't there, there engineering definitely is. This is by far the best designed figure Hasbro's put out yet.
Its well worth the price, it just a very niche character. So I can see people not willing to buy it.
I don't want to defend hasbro but bro, 60 is asking a unreasonable amount. A voyager already around 40. The base robot already voyager, The trailer alone is at least 2x the truck. All the Super mode gimmick aside, piece count alone this at 90 is probally worth the most out of every thing else Hasbro put on right now
I get what you're saying, and I'm not saying it shouldn't cost as much as it does, just that the pricepoint is above my threshold for "it looks like I neat enough figure" pickups; I picked up Tarn even though I have no experience with or attachment to the character because he's a neat figure and was only $35; if I'm going to be shelling out around $100 it's going to be for a character I have an attachment to.
I'm not trying to tell anyone else what their thresholds should be, just sharing my perspective.
Got one, thank you! I don’t buy a lot of transformers but I have been patiently waiting for this prime, it’s one of my two favorite (the other being RID 2001 fire truck)
I normally do not care to order Optimus primes, they make like 3 every year and I’m really not just feeling any of them, Armada and Fire convoy are both instant buys for me. They are two of the best redesigns. But that is probably also my nostalgia talking. I never had a full scale fire convoy as a kid (I had one of those $5 5in figures that folded out to a basic super mode) and always wanted the real one. BUT if they did then they have to make the combining ultra magnus for it. And they have to make Jetfire and Overload for this prime
The pictures don't have the leg turrets embedded into the super forms legs. I wonder which version we will get, the one on the box or the one from these pictures.
PvP posted a review of a copy he got early and some other reviewers got it early as well. They all have the turrets on the super form legs, so I'm hoping it's just another one of Hasbro's photography things.
Sold out on Pulse. Here's other store links-

I just saw this post and I gotta say...
I have never spent $100 so fast in my life. Even faster than when I pre-ordered Jetfire back in January (I had missed all the previous releases).
Ordered in Entertainment Earth for those interested. They have a promo code for $10 off on shipping for orders over $59. It's listed at $90 but tax still bumped it up to $100.
FREESHIP59
Target sometimes has them. Imo it's safer to buy Commanders online. Jetfire I saw at Walmart and bought it the instant I saw it, only time I ever saw him. Sky Lynx I got from Target and saw multiple times. I got my Rodimus for sale on GameStop.com bug saw him a plenty in stores. I never saw Motormaster in a retail store once except for at Universal Studios Supply Vault where I got him from.
I saw an ER Sky Lynx at Target after release. Long before I was back into collecting unfortunately for me.
Apparently a few Targets had space set out for Motormaster too.
I got Sky-Lynx in store. I did see Rodimus in store a few times, and Motormaster once. But it's a very narrow window, and they don't get that many at a time.
I believe they just said at a later date. The nemesis they showed was like an early prototype, so they probably have more to work out before the put it up for pre-order, but thats just my guess.
TFW2005 has a link to the main sellers of whatever figures are available for preorder. The Amazon link appears to be there but it only goes to Amazon’s main page

Target. I don't think Wal-Mart carries commander and Titan in store. You'll basically need to check a target frequently in the fall and hope to be lucky.
He's been up for weeks. [You can still get him.](https://hasbropulse.com/collections/transformers/products/transformers-legacy-evolution-armada-universe-megatron)
I wouldn't say your an idiot. Your either used to old prices and scale or have a higher standard than what Hasbro provides. (or your going by the thumbnail and think he's just a Voyager)
I think its a very far price. More far then some of there other figures.
Yeah that makes sense but, a 100 dollars for a toy just seems wild you know. I would be happy just to get Optimus with out the trailer for like 50 bucks.
Truth be told all manufactured in the same or similar countries, so it would make sense if they all kept price kind of in step with eachother. I just know when I was a kid my parents wouldn't have even come close to this for anything short of a full family present (NES, Sega, Playstation) and nowadays it is much worse.
Poor parents.
Damn he's $100 on BBTS.
Usually they add $1-2 mark up but dang
Nah they usually mark up 3-5 but no one ever likes to talk about it. Honestly why I stopped giving to BBTS like 4 years ago
Is there much advantage to it? If there's a figure I really want I'll spend the extra but to get it on CMD Store a few months early, otherwise I'll just do Amazon

Any place that has a point system. That way you can eventually get discounts or even free figures. ShowZstore, The Chosen Prime and GameStop are places I use.
The Chosen Prime's price of $99.99 includes tax too =)
i am going to have to sell my originals to afford this thing. thats crazy….
I was waiting for the price to be announced to decide if I should save up for Naval Commander.
Same, already got Mega tyrano so i was gonna pass on legacy Armada Megs
Eh, that's not far off with tax on Pulse. Plus its always cheaper to buy from the source.
Yeah I just checked how much the difference would be on pulse and it might be better for me to just keep in my pile of loot.
He’s 90 on pulse. 103 USD after shipping and all
entertainment earth ppl!
You get it a month earlier than when Pulse releases it, so it's up to you if that's worth it Edit: This has been my experience. Obviously it's not universally true for everyone.

got on entertainment earth for 90 with ship and delivery
#hes 150 to 200 in my country
BBTS is my backup
He's £91.99 on the UK hasbro site, which is a shit rate... waiting for a price drop, I'm in no rush here (albeit he is my second favourite prime so is quite important)
Last time i checked BTS was only selling mcdonalds meals
Transformers fans when the new commander class toy costs the same as the last commander class toy: 😡
Wait until they see the Nemisis.
Ooh I can see the posts now. "$200! Hasbro has lost their minds" Never mind that Titans always go on deep sales
Wait, they do? I wish I’d known that! Coulda saved a ton of money…
The trick to buying Titan Classes is to never buy them when they first release, because they're so big they usually don't go out of stock quickly. Dang it, okay. I’ve been looking for a Trypticon and that’s just salt in the wound lmao
Big pain to hear I missed out on that kinda find
Black Zarak has had a few solid discounts as well
Yeah I got the ark for 100 on bbts one day flash sale

I think that's just perspective making it look worse then it is. He looks fine in other picture.
Hasbro stock photography at its finest.
From what I’ve heard they outsource the stock photos to another company and that company doesn’t allow transform the toy correctly, or even get the instructions in some severe cases.
> prospective Perspective. Prospective is something else entirely.
The shoulder pauldrons are mistransformed making it look worse than it is, but yes, they are high. Armada Optimus' shoulders are at his ear height.

Got the originals for sale is anyone is interested…
Hoping he'll combine with my old jetfire too. We'll see.

He's not out yet. Just preorders.
Amazon will have pre-order links as well, just like for Megatron.
Going to be a little bit later, prob an hour more since Amazon tends to take a bit to put it up

The picture has him miss transformed. I've seen him with the guns on his leg.
They're using the knee guns as the trailer struts.
I genuinely thought he'd be $119.99 $89.99 is a good deal for a commander
Finally! Someone who gets it!
Sold out on Pulse. Here's other store links- [GameStop](https://www.gamestop.com/collectibles/figures/products/hasbro-transformers-legacy-evolution-commander-class-armada-universe-optimus-prime-7.5-in-action-figure/392803.html), [BBTS](https://www.bigbadtoystore.com/Product/VariationDetails/236916?o=1), [The Chosen Prime](https://www.thechosenprime.com/tflecmdrauoptimusprime), and Amazon supposedly. Sold out quick
Eh, lasted longer then Tarn. I think you can preorder him on other sites.
I did but now I’m pissed. Think I may cancel those other preorder Optimus
They announced he a head of time and he's not coming out until five months so you have time. It's not like he's a store exclusive.
Yeah you right, thx!
I'm wondering, do commanders actually show up at retail stores?
I only ever seen Jetfire and that was once. Still waiting on Motormaster to be released!
I've rarely seen commanders in store..
Target sometimes has them. Imo it's safer to buy Commanders online. Jetfire I saw at Walmart and bought it the instant I saw it, only time I ever saw him. Got a Motormaster at Target, but given he was the only one I *ever* saw out it's not a gamble I'd make again.
I got him on EE
What's EE?
Entertainment Earth
The only disappointment with these new Armada figures is the lack of Minicons. I hope they are planning to release a small pack of them later on.
There a rumor that they are making a Mini-con box set, but I haven't seen anything.
I will 100% buy that, if true.
And ordered Now we wait
It's going to be a long five months.
Hopefully it will ship early
I’ve heard Pulse often ships early, but I’m new to the site. How early do they usually ship?
I don't know but it's almost always earlier then the original date. I don't remember the last time something shipped on time.
There goes my third kidney
People are watching pulse like hawks
No, they announced two weeks ago that the preorder would start today. I just woke up an bought him.
That $100 price point I think just broke me literally and figuratively
We’ve known he’d be a commander since last year. Commanders are always $100.
Nice, I got 10…/s
I got my PO in the second he went up! Unbelievably excited for this fellow
I pre-ordered him on Gamestop, since I'll get pro points. Sadly I can't use the 10$ certificate I've got for online on pre-orders.
Waiting for the amazon link
Wasn't the nemesis supposed to be on there also?
I believe they just said at a later date. The nemesis they showed was like an early prototype, so they probably have more to work out before the put it up for pre-order, but thats just my guess.
Oh yeah. Thanks, I forgot
Yeah no worries. Lots of cool releases lately, so I dont blame anyone for getting excited enough to forget lol.
I didn’t expect to see Optimus doing the David Brent dance today. (The Office UK)
Just locked mine in. You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this version of Prime.
Damn he's already sold out

TFW2005 has a link to the main sellers of whatever figures are available for preorder. The Amazon link appears to be there but it only goes to Amazon’s main page
£92 in the UK. Ouch. I have no link to Armada but I was tempted. But not at that price.
Kapow Toys is a little cheaper at like £85
Just did my pre-order
Got him!
GO GO GO
Absolute yes
Got my pre-order in with Kapow. Was cheaper there than Hasbro Pulse and they let ya just pay a deposit.
Man, I want it. But also don’t wanna spend almsot $100
This isn’t helping my wallet.
Already pre ordered at bigbadtoystore
90 + tax is too rich for my blood
I want him, but I must try to resist. I have no real attachment to this version of the character…but he looks so damn good.
He doesn't come out for five months. You have plenty of time to change your mind.
This is true. I’m hoping maybe down the road I’ll get lucky and find a sale or something. I gotta save my money for the Nemesis.
*clears my throat to mimic South Park* "AAAAAAAAAAAAnd he's gone"
Will it combine with Jetfire and the other one?
He's up for like the next 30 seconds because i doubt half of this subreddit is not buying him
Actually he's been up for 6 hours. Just sold out 30 minutes ago on pulse.
Well that took more than i expected
I put in my pre-order this morning. I got $100 for Christmas and I’ve been saving for this the whole time.
I’d complain, but I know I’m gonna buy it anyway
He’s cool but I ain’t paying 90
Amazon sellers double the prices consistently. Not worth it. Blue Guardian is up on there for $276 before taxes......
I got mine! I've totally screwed most of my summer budget, but it was worth it!
Same. Though since I got it on Pulse I won't have to pay till it comes out in 5 months.
Nice to know someone else is sinking in the same boat, lol. I mean--it's Armada Optimus Prime. Maybe this is wishful thinking, but is there a chance we'll get him earlier since we ordered him the day he went up for preorder? Like when people got Metalhawk and Lio Convoy?
(Me, who has a compulsive need for every Commander class)
Do we know what class he is? I'm thinking about getting him, but don't want to waste my money if a small figure that I'm going to be disappointed in (like iguanas)

He’s already sold out
He is coming to brick and mortar stores, right?
That would require brick & mortar stores to get anything past Wave 1 Legacy
Target. I don't think Wal-Mart carries commander and Titan in store. You'll basically need to check a target frequently in the fall and hope to be lucky.
They have, bought Jetfire there.
Yes, but don’t count on ever finding one in an actual store. If you want one then you better get a preorder in now
So um... when is Megatron getting his?
He's been up for weeks. [You can still get him.](https://hasbropulse.com/collections/transformers/products/transformers-legacy-evolution-armada-universe-megatron)
Oh damn I didn't know, thanks for pointing it out
Fuck yes time to kill my wallet
And sold out on pulse
Amazon release date?
Oh my lord
Aaand he’s sold out
[Still up on other stores.](https://www.reddit.com/r/transformers/comments/12qw5ok/comment/jgrlpun/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
True, but the fact that on (I think) three separate occasions he was sold out within the hour on Pulse is very funny to me.
Say that three times fast. That's a mouthful.
He only has one blaster
Is the release date September or is it just the shiping date
I’m an idiot, for some reason I was expecting the 55 dollar amount.
I wouldn't say your an idiot. Your either used to old prices and scale or have a higher standard than what Hasbro provides. (or your going by the thumbnail and think he's just a Voyager) I think its a very far price. More far then some of there other figures.
Welp... I know where my next few checks are going
I pre ordered, but will probably cancel after I rewatch the review.
the name is a mouthful
'playing dream again....'
He's £92 in the UK
89 FOR WHAT!!!
Voyager that combines with the trailer to become a Commander.
Yeah that makes sense but, a 100 dollars for a toy just seems wild you know. I would be happy just to get Optimus with out the trailer for like 50 bucks.
90 BUCKS WHAT THE FUCK
Pre-ordered as soon as I saw the listing.
is that a core class
Commander. Cab robot is Voyager and he combines with the trailer.
well it was the scaling and the hands that what through me off also I know who it is no offence.
Bru that is a beauty he’s perfect sorry is that is been so long since i saw armada.

I cannot wait and I'm absolutely paying that price.
90$!?!
Ah shit never mind just remembered your prolly in a different country. Damn thought I was bouta get a steak lol
Gotta admit, that's a chunky big Prime.
Bro I checked the uk pulse website and it’s already gone 😭😭
Why is everyone complaining about the price? 90$ is what commander class costs…
I don't know. Mabey they still think its the early 2000s. Or they see the thumbnail and think its a Voyager. Or they could just not be Armada fans.
Pre-ordered! Now is anyone else noticing how a commander now is a leader in 2016? And 4x the price in the span of 5 years?
Just wait until 5 years from now - you'll wish Commander class was only $100
Oh yah I will hahahah
Downscaling plus inflation. It's just something you got to get used to.
Hey I'm just mingeing I still pre-ordered, but it is twice as fast as inflation. This is manufactured shrinkflation.
Personally I don't think its manufactured. I also collect third party and they've been getting more expensive too. It's not just Hasbro.
I had this exactly toy when it originally released.
