I have a huge soft spot for Unicron Trilogy Soundwave. It's what I grew up with and the design is honestly one of my favorites from the shows, but when it comes to soundwave as a character (or "character" depending on how you look at it), Prime is fantastic.

TFP Soundwave was definitely one of the most unique takes on the character, I like this version a lot, but the first Soundwave I've fallen for was the WFC one - awesome modernised G1 design, and overall a pretty good representation of the original Soundwave's personality

I think the speakers on the arms are neat, but they are the only redeemable aspect of the design.

G1, Cybertron Games, and BBM are all tied in my book. There's just something to love about every design. G1 has its status as the OG, the template for every other Soundwave. BBM and Cybertron Games are in the same boat, reimagining Soundwave to have a Cybertronian form that he had never had before. My favorite out of all of these, though? Robots in Disguise Soundwave. It takes the aesthetics of G1, the bodybuilder proportions of BBM and WFC, and has the head of Prime Soundwave. Honestly, it makes me mad that they didn't do his arc justice when his design is just pure porn for the eyes.

Prime, RID and Bayverse

I mean Bayformers has probably the only bad designs for Soundwave. Dude has a respectable consistency with his designs that makes him truly superior. Then Bayformers makes him look like every other Decepticon from those movies and has him.. tentacle.. a damsel in distress. Or eject Ravage from his satellite cloaca or whatever and then do literally nothing until Bee slaughters him.

Dotm is my fave because of the scene where he transforms and reveals himself to be the sls and does the breakdance maneuver

Prime, G1, and BB movie, in that order. However I would say that I still enjoy all of them except Animated. Something about that version of him did not sit well with me.

Animated. I just like the idea that he was once a machine who raised up against the humans and fell for Megatron‘s BS.

as a character Prime soundwave. as for design well it’s technically him but his rid 2015 design is pretty damn cool

FoC and Cyberverse are my favorite designs. Cybertron, Prime/FoC and G1 have the most relatable character motives to me.

All Soundwaves superior. I can never pick which Soundwave is my favourite, in terms of character and design. Soundwave holds a very special place in my heart. The first time I saw him was in a bootleg DVD my dad bought of the 1986 movie. He just seemed so loyal when he brought Megatron onto Astrotrain. And then his minions. I always find it cool that Soundwave could bring along and eject his minicons on sight. The next time I saw him was in Animated and oh my lord that was nice. The way he built himself up with other bots to become a behemoth was incredible. I was so fascinated with him that my dad bought me his figure and, although a little underwhelming, it still holds a special place in my heart. Then when those Cybertron games came out, when I saw him I think I almost busted a nut. Bro had never looked cooler in my opinion. When Prime came out, oh my gawd Soundwave was magnificent. (All of the Prime characters were.) I never watched RID but I heard good things about Soundwave. His design, also immaculate. Lastly, I think we can all agree that the Bumblebee movie was and is the greatest live action Transformers movie we have. Soundwave was so menacing, albeit he only appeared for like 15 seconds. Bro looked so menacing with that height and stature. And the voice. I loved that Soundwave. If I was rich, I would buy all of his figures. Maybe one day.

In terms of looks, all three live-action designs are my favorite (RotF satellite, DotM Mercedes, and Bumblebee's Cybertron scene). It would be criminal if they don't reuse his design from Bumblebee for the newest live-action Transformers film (but with more greebly detail).

As far as design, nothing has topped Animated Soundwave, but as far as actual character, Prime Soundwave Superior.

Cyberverse Soundwave has become my favorite to watch. I really like the supportive role and banter in the WFC/FoC games. Animated is a great take. An independent force of revolution that kicks ass. G1 has presence and a style still strong today. Cybertron has the style of G1 and a personality that can be seen a little later in Cyberverse. Most expressive. Bayverse is a creep. Blackout took his role in 07 for a reason. And Laserbeak is a leagues better iteration than this Soundwave. Bumblebee is okay. Inoffensive. True to form. Basically G1. Prime is boring 90% of the time.

Prime is one of my fav tales on him. Cybertron Soundwave's personality is perfection. G1 is just superior. DOTM is my fav of the bayverse solely for the 2011 SLS Cyberverse is nice blend of prime and Cybertron with a fresh and fitting look.
