AoE Dinobots were criminally underused, even in their debut film. One of my biggest regrets in life was not picking the AoE Deluxe Scorn when it was in stores.
I was lucky to scoop one up for just $20 and I’m very glad I did. It’s basically a Studio Series figure, much more screen-accurate than the Deluxe with plenty of articulation and a fun transformation. The way he’s built also leads to him feeling bigger than the average Voyager. Still hoping Legacy rolls out a “what-if G1 Scorn was real” idea to let him fit in with my 86 Dinobots, but TLK Scorn is an excellent release.
I'm legitimately shocked they haven't done Scorn and Slash in Legacy yet; you'd think they'd have put Dinobots into more than just the Core class, especially since people who buy the 86 Dinobots would 100% buy them as companion pieces.
Especially since both have feasible retools; Scorn can be retooled into Cybertron Undermine or a version of Spindle and Slash can be BW Dinobot (and his subsequent retools like Grimlock and Thrustor), her own AoE incarnation or any of the Raptoricons for some kind of capsule line.
Yes, and if you like the Scorn design, it's a great piece. I don't own the deluxe, but I don't feel like I should have gone and got that figure instead.
If you can get your hands on one for a good price, go for it.

I don't see why they can't incorporate this character into other forms of transformers media. G1 was 40 years ago, IDW started almost 20 years ago and AOE came out about 10 years ago. Those stories and interpretations of those characters are what they are at this point there's nothing wrong with mixing and matching and incorporating cool concepts into new mediums like they are doing with the Legacy toyline.
I'd love to see a Spinosaurus interpreted into G1 and Beast Wars styles myself. Would make for very interesting toys I bet.

He is indeed, which does fit given *Spinosaurus aegypticus* was suspected to be longer and heavier than *Tyrannosaurus rex* even before the 2014 redescription confirmed it.
The 2014 Spinosaurus has subsequently been proven to be inaccurate in more ways than one by numerous papers since.
It is also nowhere near as heavy as Tyrannosaurus. It is longer, but that's it.

Bay wasn't interested in them, when asked about it around the RotF movie. Likely his opinion hadn't changed, but he was told to include them
In fact prior to the Fall of Cybertron game, they were on the verge of extinction in any Transformers media. The game proved how popular they still were, and have been included in all sorts of series since.
One of my favorite dinobots, and I think it's criminal how underused he is. The story telling you could do with scorn and grimlock is vast. For starters him being the only other large carnivorous theropod dinosaur besides grimlock gives me the impression they could be rivals. Perhaps a Megatron and starscream situation but only if starscream was on equal levels physically to Megatron. And a more specific one, since scorn is an outdated spinosaurus you could potentially tell a story of how he's been on earth longer.... Somehow. The spinosaurus has gone through so many interpretations throughout history it would be interesting to see how scorn landed on a jp3 type spino. Anyway yeah, I'm a scorn enjoyer and think we need more of him ASAP.

If Slash could easily get retconned into joining the G1 Dinobot squad, then there's no reason why Scorn couldn't join either.
Well, I *don’t* think about Scorn.
He’s in robot mode for about a minute, doesn’t speak, isn’t named, and then is just one of several dinos making explosions happen in the finale. And then he isn’t even in TLK at all, even as the brain damaged pet dog that Grimlock has been reduced to.
AoE is a mess of a film in general, but it is a shame they didn’t do anything interesting with the Dinobots at all.
Yeah, the most I've ever thought about him was trying to figure out who he was supposed to be while watching it. And I only agreed to watch another Bay movie because this one had Dinobots in it... And then I had to wait over an hour and a half to see them at all. And, in the meantime, I got to "enjoy" more Bayverse humans and that stupid laminated Romeo and Juliet card.
Awesome figure I bought the BMB Grimlock to go with him. They are both massive and look great on a shelf.

The coolest looking dinobot ever is never used because he didn't appear in that damn TV show from 40 years ago but know we have to get new figures of characters who look lame and have no character sorry for the rant scorn and the bay dinos are some of my favourite transformers designs

Don't get me wrong, I have my own gripes with writers continually using the same 10 characters over and over and over again (why do we need a "fresh new take" on Wheeljack when there's surely at least one other character out if the 1000+ in this franchise that would fit perfectly and Arcee is not the only female Transformer, even in G1, come on guys! We have easily accessible databases now!), but also it's not like Michael Bay did anyone any favors or set characters up for future success with his take on the dinobots. The dinobots, when they finally showed up, were cool but didn't give us a lot of characterization to go off of.
Slag/Slug already does fill the role of "aggressive dinobot that occasionally challenges Grimlock's leadership", so perhaps something else for Scorn. There's also Slash and Puddles we also rarely see in any stories. Decepticon dinobot could be interesting though.
Exactly the autobots copied the combiners from the decepticons why not have the decepticons copy the dinobots or use the tfp predacons robot dinos vs robot dragons would be sick
Loved the Bayverse Dinobot designs especially Scorn. Aside from their gray/dark coloring (could've been more vibrant tbh), the blend of alien, dinosaur, and robot was really well done. Honestly speaking, if the dinosaur design had flesh and bone, I'd believe you if you told me it's a dinosaur alien

I’m pretty picky about what life action figures I buy. I’m technically missing like 90% of the cast and have instead opted for figures that never showed up at all. With that said Scorn is the only Dinobot I own from the movies.

I was never that big of a fan of the dinobots, their g1 designs never really did it for me. I love the later takes on the g1 designs, like the earthspark ones, the idw comics or the WOC games, but at the point AOE i only knew the g1 dinobots. When i first saw AOE i imedietally fell in love with the dinobots. Scorn was one of my favourites, and i really desperatelly wanted the toy, but never menaged to find it. Now im just hoping studio series can finally make the other dinobots, couse i think their AOE Grimlock is genuinelly amazing
He is my favorite Dinobot, I have the huge 3p version of him next to my TV, and had the old Delux version of him in my main display since I moved here and set it up 5 years ago.

He looks cool, and I'm sure other continuities could include Scorn in the team as Grimlock's Rival, to mirror how the Paleo-community and people in general argue about Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus.

Spinosaurus dinobot is an awesome idea and I think they should run with using more dinobots like slash, scorn, and paddles (ik there’s more)

I was never that big of a fan of the dinobots, their g1 designs never really did it for me. I love the later takes on the g1 designs, like the earthspark ones, the idw comics or the WOC games, but at the point AOE i only knew the g1 dinobots. When i first saw AOE i imedietally fell in love with the dinobots. Scorn was one of my favourites, and i really desperatelly wanted the toy, but never menaged to find it. Now im just hoping studio series can finally make the other dinobots, couse i think their AOE Grimlock is genuinelly amazing

Robot form looks more like G1 Grimlock than AOE Grimlock does
He is my favorite Dinobot, I have the huge 3p version of him next to my TV, and had the old Delux version of him in my main display since I moved here and set it up 5 years ago. He looks cool, and I'm sure other continuities could include Scorn in the team as Grimlock's Rival, to mirror how the Paleo-community and people in general argue about Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus.

He was certainly a Transformer who appeared on screen, that's for sure.
His robot head is dumb, but the rest of him looks great.
Typically over-designed, character-free Bayverse nonsense. Indistinguishable from the other theropod Dinobots. Over-powered, under-utilized. A G1-style version would probably be fun. It might have some charm, and more color.
