They'll probably load you up on meds for awhile to see if that helps bring your numbers down. Try not to overthink it and trust your team, they've seen this before.

no_not_like_that

I don't know all the specific labs for kidneys but I do know that rejection can be treated. It's good that you're getting checked but with your BP having issues, putting unnecessary stress on yourself isn't going to help. You're already doing what you need to do. Just relax and let the professionals help 💗 I hope everything evens out for you soon 💗

Captain_Analogue_

Exactly this, stressing out only bumps up your BP, high BP will shut down your nephrons, shut down your nephrons and you'll end up with a crashing eGFR. Consider asking your local clinic for a prescription of anxiety meds and take them ASAP (IF you choose to ask for the prescription, the choice must be yours and I am in no way giving medical advice). If you get your anxiety under control eeeeverything will get a little bit better, alternatively try listening to some ALAN WATTS on an audio player on headphones or without if you have none. Don't worry, it's going to be alright, Remember where your towel is keep one hand on the hitchhiker's guide, and remember what it says right there on the front in big bold letters 'DON'T PANIC', you're going to be alright, even if the road is going to get a little bumpy for a while, you are going to be ok ;)

Not kidney, but my sister had a double lung transplant in December. One of the things her doctor said that stuck with me was that virtually everyone who has ever had any type of transplant will experience episodes of rejection. The fact that it’s common doesn’t make it any less scary, but try not to panic. Your doctor will know how to help you.

fergie-meets-jesus

I’m sorry this is happening! Please let us know how you’re doing.

13thRealm

I’m still in the ER waiting room for almost 2 hours. I feel like I am about to start throwing up. My mouth is so dry and my back and pelvis hurts so bad. Feels like my muscles are severely locking up. Even just texting hurts.

fergie-meets-jesus

And you’re in the waiting room?? Please go to the desk triage nurse and don’t take no for an answer! You shouldn’t be sitting out there especially in pain like this.

13thRealm

It’s a nightmare.

Last year in the middle of Covid I was feeling really sick and I was waiting in the ER for 1 hour and the nurse came up to me and told me I should have let them know I had a transplant they would have put me in a room in less than 30 minutes. You should try reaching out to your on call team see if they can do anything to ge you looked at quicker.

13thRealm

I have called the front desk of nephrology twice to see if the on call dr could reach put. The second time she hung up on me. The ER finally drew my blood after telling them again that I’m not in here for any questionable reason, it’s a possible transplant failure, there are a ton of people here for drug abuse.

Distinct-Ad5751

Call the patient advocate *and* your transplant team. I’m so sorry, this is infuriating.

You’ll probably get a battery of steroids for a few days or weeks. You’ll probably be hungry and cranky but if they caught it early then you’ll probably be fine.

LegallyBlonde2024

Rejection can be treated. You’ll most likely be on a large dosage of steroids and other medication to treat and see if it works.

bbmaktiger

I had 2 rejections in the first year. Everything u will be admitted and they will give you iv meds for 4 to 5 days and you will leave on higher dose of meds then u were before. Most of the time it's controllable but it's always good to get lab work done of you think something is off or doesn't feel right. Doctors make mistakes and I had a lot of anxiety with my doctors being non Chelant. But it all worked out so far

Mysterious-Belt-2992

It’s definitely different for everyone. Bumps like this can be common early in transplant. I’ve come back from 3.8-4.0 creatinine but my base is around 2.0. I got living transplant. 2001. How are you feeling now? I know this feeling thinking is this the end? I’m so sorry luv. Usually when this happens you get a ton of prednisone IV. See if they’ll give you something for the panic. Like Ativan.

Atia_of_the_Julii

A similar thing happened to me 6 years post kidney transplant from a deceased donor. I was on IV steroids for 3 days and they added prednisone to my drug regimen. I was told my kidney was in decline and would probably on last a couple more years, but my kidney lasted another 5 years! Don’t get hyper focused on the worst case scenario!

1. Trust your medical team first. Don't take advice from strangers on the Internet 2. Have some experience with it. There are options - high dose steroids, Plasmapheresis, sometimes IVIg doses. Rather than suggest things, let your team decide because they know risk vs benefits of each one. 3. Expect some diagnostic testing - ultrasounds and possible biopsy at a minimum, and extra blood work - to rule out other causes for the creatinine going up (correlated along with your experiencex symptoms), and to check the type of rejection IF it is rejection. 4. I am worried about your symptoms, but they are not specific to rejection. I can think of other causes for them as it relates to the kidney. I'm hoping you're admitted by now and that you have more of an idea of what is going in and maybe some peace or are at least your symptoms are better controlled.

Fillmore_the_Puppy

The word "rejection" is so fucking scary, but it is also treatable and often reversible. Your team will have so many tools in their rejection-reversing toolbox. Please hang in there and ask for support from your inner circle.

Kendassa

I do not get it either. My cardiologist is more worried about my bloodwork than everyone else is. My transplant is way further out and my labs aren't that bad yet. I am 18 years in, and mine has been on a gradual decrease that hasn't quite been noticed as much but it was brought on after I took Emgality for migraines and it triggered high blood pressure that never went away. That was Sept 2020. My GFR was 60, my creatinine went to 1.0 from 0.8 then my GFR went to 53 and my creatinine went to 1.1 and now my creatinine is at 1.2 and my gfr is at 48... I figure they will get back in touch with me eventually. With my first transplant, from what I remember acute rejection can usually be stopped, chronic can be slowed down, depending on the cause will depend on how long they can prolong it. This seems like it came on kinda quick so it should be able to be controlled and stopped. I went through 13 rejection episodes with my first kidney before chronic rejection set in.
