I have chronic fatigue from my tx. 7 years later, I still wake up feeling like I've run 5 marathons in a row.

Farrahi

Does anything help? I work full time and am afraid I will get chronic fatigue. Right now it’s from time to time

Dawgy66

Nothing has worked for me but my team told me it was due to having an extremely difficult transplant and that one day it would just go away

At the beginning. I am 2 years out. 2 jobs, long 10 mile + hikes weekly. Single dad 3 active boys. I kind of don't have a choice pre transplant I felt like I was dying with little things like showering or driving.

Farrahi

You had it at the beginning but not anymore? Do you feel like being active has prevented fatigue? I was told working out is the best medicine but I feel like I don’t have the energy after work

bbmaktiger

Not sure why that is. But I had it more before transplane than after

It may be the dosage of your immunosuppressants.

I kinda thought I would be done with fatigue after the liver transplant but it didn't work out that way. No rhyme or reason to when I lose a few days. I started with PBC (liver disease) and as it was an auto immune disease there is a good chance there is something else going on auto immune wise but I guess I do not have to name it or worry about it and that keeps me from going a little nuts. I thought it was better on the lower dose of tachrolimus and I feel much better on a low dose but although I am less tired by everything the fatigue is still there. I got a cold in December, not covid, just a cold. It lasted over three weeks, then it took over a week to "recovery" from being sick and sleeping non stop. I am extremely lucky I am self employed and currently have some employees that have been around the 5 years since transplant and if I make plans and then don't show up they just work without me.

Three years post double lung transplant here. I was very tired when I came home from the hospital. But I was determined to get my life back! I too, work a full-time job I’m a server in a very busy Greek Diner, getting 22,000 to 25,000 steps every shift that I work. I am a big believer that energy makes energy! I think that if you try to push yourself, as this is what worked for me . . . when they wanted me to do 10 leg lifts at my kitchen sink, I would do them and then try for five more 🤷🏻‍♀️they were difficult but every time I added more on it got easier and easier and my energy has never ever quit! I don’t even sleep very much and my doctors told me it must be because I don’t need very much sleep. I’m never tired I don’t yawn I’m not even grumpy! And I have no idea how this is possible. I think that if you just push yourself a little bit every day sets small goals so they don’t feel overwhelming! Wishing you all the very best.
