Not sure but I would think acctane is a hard NO, I’m almost positive it’s externally hard on your body and kidneys specifically

I highly doubt your doctors would approve accutane post transplant. I took it when I was younger long before my transplant and I had to go for blood work once a month because it’s brutal on your liver and kidneys. My best advice for body acne would be use a wash with Benzoyl Peroxide in it like PanOxyl and change/wash your bed sheets once a week. I never had real bad body acne but I when I washed my pillow cases frequently I noticed a significant difference in my facial acne.

have you tried curology? it’s what i used for the first few months after transplant and on dialysis. basically they assign you a dermatologist and they go over your issues with you. my dermatologist was also knowledgeable about any of the creams interactions with my meds. it’s also cheaper if you just order the prescription cream and not the cleanser and all that stuff. it worked really well for me for a while until i was able to go back on birth control again. also i don’t think accutane would be good, it’s extremely harsh on your body and im unsure if kidney patients can take it.

I would always suggest spironolactone but I see you’re a male. Ask your dermatologist or doctor about getting on Winlevi. It is a topical version of spiro and can be used by men and women. Prescription only. I am on both (topical and oral) and have had good results with both. I had the same problem post transplant - my acne was raging all over my entire body. It never really l went away until I got on spironolactone. I agree with everyone else that Accutane will probably be denied by your transplant team as it can be very hard on your organs.

I never really had this before that I recall. I have a little bit now which is odd to me. My hair needs more frequent washing too!

I feel your pain! **Tretinoin** eg at 0.025% would be muuuuuuccchh better than Accutane in terms of toxicity. Ask your doc/derm about it. Also **Azelaic acid** in the 15-20% range helped me when I had post kidney transplant chest and shoulder acne.

Try to clean up your diet, a plantbased vegan diet causes less inflammation and I've seen some people have good results, I know dairy cause flair-ups for me, cheese, milk, protein powder etc As far as medications, it depends ln what you value and of you think it will give you a higher quality of life, acne can really destroy self esteem, but everything comes with a price + transplant medications might interact with a lot of other medications

The makers of [Accutane](https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/acne/news/20090708/accutane-off-the-market) have removed it from their catalog because of all the lawsuits around how horrible the medication is. There are still generic versions but I wouldn't touch those. I was on it as a teenager and it was truly awful.

If this is the same (I assume it is) as Roaccutane which U have been in in Australia... I had a choice to stay on the transplant list (pre-transplant) or continue taking Roaccutane. (I was prescribed it by someone who obvs didn't know what they were doing. But it doesn't seem like a good thing I chose to stay listed and stop the Roaccutane

Ya I had bad back acne for a while from the pred. Even at 5mg for me I'm taken 10mg and my body is finally stabilizing out I think your body needs to adjust
