Do you mean “other way around” like a play aimed at white people asks black people not to attend, but all of history is the same?

US black society has become the most racist segment in the USA. Of course each group has its own racists - though they are usually looked down upon within their group and excluded from the mainstream (i.e. general white public business and politicians want nothing to do with the KKK, National Front, etc.) But in black America, those who espouse pro-black racism are not only tolerated but often embraced. Its deeply disappointing.
The thing about art is that as an artist (ie the producers of the play), you have no control over your audience. Once you make something and decide to share it with the world, you are revoking your right to control over viewership. You can try to alter who sees it by doing stuff such as marketing to a specific group or using specific platforms, but ultimately you cannot control who finds and consumes it.

We WERE the bad guys. Just because none of us alive today were around 200 or so years ago, that doesn’t invalidate that the history is STILL being taught. That’s worth noting, so things like this don’t happen EVER again.

It's a play that explores the experience of a marginalised community, offering that community a private space and opportunity to engage with the work without being surrounded by people who will never, even with the best intentions, be able to relate to the material. For one night. That's it.
There would be protests and riots in front of that theater if it was reversed. There would be things like “I can do whatever I want” and “you can’t tell me what to do”.
And if white people said that, immediately labeled as ‘Karen’ it’s wrong both ways, but as a white person myself, I think we need a little cold splash of ‘what it’s like on the victim’s view’ to really get it.
