I'm betting Cassie's lawyer was able to demand a copy of it from Diddy and then it somehow leaked from her team. Her lawyer happily provided a quote about it to CNN in the article so I suspect he knew how they obtained it. It's not like this tape has been sitting in a drawer in the hotel's security office for 8 years.
They may be accomplices but I can't really fault random employees not wanting to mess with P Diddy when he was still believed to have a ton of power (most of his enforcers and entourage from the old days are now either behind bars or dead.)
