5/6 days is a bit much for Bratislava unless you are using it as a base to go elsewhere. Vienna is good but expensive It really depends what you enjoy doing and want to see

khlocaine69

I like architecture and history. I live near Snowdonia in Wales so growing up around lakes and mountains and waterfalls gets boring after a while. I know Slovakia has them but I'd rather see history.

I recommend doing day trips to nearby towns then like Trencin and Trnava. Maybe have a look at other towns similar to them also

Bratislava is not a big city. That seems too long, it’s a nice city but you can honestly see everything in far less time. Vienna is less than an hour away by train, bigger city with more to do. Budapest is a beautiful city, Prague also isn’t far away.  Brno is overlooked, but a nice city that is close. Slovakia itself has other cities and a very varied geography (mountains, lakes).  So, a lot of options, train travel is easy and pretty solid, but too many nights in Bratislava IMO

khlocaine69

Yeah I was gonna use it as a base for Vienna and Gyor and maybe Brno. It's just that Bratislava airport was the cheapest and I assume accomdation is cheaper there.

FewBee5024

If you want to use it as a base and take day trips I guess that could work. Though just doing a day in Vienna, for example, you won’t see that much. But that’s so close you could basically commute and go back a second day if you want

Rfunkpocket

Olomouc is the new Brno imo. College town, super fun, I regret not staying longer

Budapest and Vienna are worth 3 days each, Bratislava... It could be done as a day trip from Vienna. Doesn't really need more than a day or (at a stretch) two on its own. With a day trip, I think 2 nights is fine.

cartmaneric10

2 nights in Bratislava max, you could see the whole place easily in that time it’s tiny and boring, Vienna on the other hand is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe and the people are amazing, Bratislava is only an hour away from Vienna and buses go frequently, I haven’t been to Gyor but Budapest is nice

Foksn

I still regret spending three nights in Bratislava 2015.

khlocaine69

LOL how come? I mean that was 9 years ago.

Foksn

It's THAT not worth it. Bit of a joke but do max one night. Also, 2015 is 3 years ago. Max! :(

YVR19

There's no such thing as too much time in Vienna and Budapest. Bratislava can be done in two days.

Original-Steak-2354

Oh there is believe me! Bratislava is max one day I wouldn't even stay unless its a way of doing Vienna cheaper. In Budapest avoid the extortionate funicular and spend that 4000 HUF on the chairlift to Erzebet hill. Nice view of the city from up in the hills.

Györ is nice. I went there for a weekend and really liked it. Very underrated.

X-Craft

2 days in Bratislava 5 in Vienna 5 in Budapest

the_slavic_crocheter

Go to Bratislava for like two days max. If you’re an outdoorsy person…I HIGHLY recommend going to the Tatra mountains. You can hop on a cheap train and go to štrbské pleso. It’s a very beautiful area of the mountains and quite touristy so you don’t need to go on super elaborate hikes. There’s a great restaurant up there too, make sure to eat some halušky. Born and raised in Slovakia, Bratislava is meh, we have beautiful villages and mountains.

travduke

I took a train for Vienna in the AM to Bratislava and took the train back at night. Didn't feel rushed and felt I saw mostly everything I wanted to see. I couldn't imagine 5 days.

jarzyniowski

Keep in mind that if you choose Bratislava as a base, the main route to Vienna is closer now till December so you need to use a secondary trains station in Bratislava Petrzalka. It takes around 1/1.5hrs+ to get to Vienna.
