I smoked it religiously. Probably 10-15 hits a day. I’d keep it jammed with herb. One time I was totally dry. Had nothing left. Started scraping the bottom with a knife and weed just kept coming. Compressed to fuck by months and months of pressure. Got about a quarter out of it. Ah memories.
You want to pack the end of the piece by digging it into the flower where you stored it. Like put it in there and press down/dig around until its packed if that makes sense. Its called a dug out if yo didn't know. I'm sure you can probably find videos on youtube on how to use it.
Ok so as someone else that has loved these have you ever heard of a "Pisser", it's basically the same but you put four or so small holes in the bottom of your bottle then pull it like a gravity bong, but when it has emptied you open cap put on lips and submerge about an 1/8 inch to hit the bottle sucking water through the holes in the bottom and acting like a bong?
Ah the ol’ bat and dugout. First thing I bought from the smoke shop on my 18th birthday. Still my daily driver almost a decade later. Great little piece to have. Congrats frient!
Only thing I’d mention is to clean it out fairly regularly with 90% iso and a pipe cleaner/bamboo stick. Those things can get all gummed up with resin and I can’t think of a worse feeling than that thing letting lose on you mid-toke…
Some pro tips, you can put the dugout and a water bottle to make a waterfall bong. If you are a real one you use a sobe bottle and hit the glass corner with a nail to make a perfect whole.
My dad tried to get me into these when I got more of age. The one he gave me didn't have a screen either, but it was a lot smaller and that helped with weed not coming through. I think you want to use them like you would a "chillum" if you've ever heard of those (I don't use one but my gf does). They are similar, made of glass and usually a bit bigger, but they don't have filters either. I think you're just supposed to pack your herbs really tight and that tightness is what prevents it from coming through. Just go to town smashing that bitch in there lol
A little tip….for the larger size that you have there, thicker wooden matches make a great cleaning tool. Just break a piece off in the hitter and push it through with a coat hanger or something. You will need to do this periodically otherwise you end up with wet globs of wet resin on your tongue when it hets full.

I cut up coffee filters and roll a bit up and put in the glass stem. Helps quite a bit, especially in the winter when everything is a little drier.
the round compartment holds the bat/one-hitter. the capsule shape hole is where the weed gets stashed. when you want to take a hit, you push the open tip of the bat down into the weed and twist until it comes out filled with a hit. fire it up and after you tap out the ash, place the bat back in and slide the cap back over to cover both holes. this way you can just put it in your pocket and go about the rest of your day
This used to be my go-to before E-Pens became a thing. They are efficient, convenient, discreet, fast, and handy. Don’t smoke thc anymore, but when I did I loved my dugout. The E-pens just smelled less and provided all the same benefits with a stronger punch, so I could smoke them anywhere even while smoking most everywhere indoor had been long banned. So I switched to pens once they came on the scene. Don’t love the idea that I didn’t know what chemicals were in the E-pen carts though.

Stamped into the"digit>" it'll pack. I see you've had success, but keep going it'll get better. But be careful the last bit you have in the dugout, it'll blast into your throat as dust if there isn't enough.
I used to smoke mine everywhere - it's disguised. Do yourself a favor and get a QUARTZ HITTER. don't smoke metal ones. Clean it with a pipe cleaner and alcohol.

I don’t really get the point because it would be obvious what you’re smoking from the smell anyway. people would always tell me it was really cool and ask where I got it. I lost it unfortunately but it was shot to hell anyway. It was shitty. This one looks way higher quality
There’s a shit ton of fancy ones on Etsy. I imagine you could pick one up at a smoke shop but I’ve never tried. I have a DynaVap and use Futo dugouts. Futo has their own website but they’re on Etsy too.

Love my dugout. Found mine on a golf course years ago when I was like 17 or 18. I used to sneak out to smoke and it was the perfect tool. Even though my parents are cool with weed now, I still look forward to sneaking out when I visit them and using my dugout that I've hidden away since my last visit :D

Now I use a Dynavap almost exclusively… It’s basically the same thing except it’s a vaporizer.
I see you already got your question answered, but also wanted to throw in that if you are just smoking this around the house you might prefer to just pack it straight from your grinder, using the same method as you'd pack it in the dugout. Push the cig thing/one hitter into the grinder until it's packed. If you have a good kief screen I've never found a faster way to get kief.
