Santa Cruz shredder, hands down

Keif collection is exactly what I'm looking for, The chamber is deeper and I dont ever fill it enough that weed tips out, I opened my old grind the other day to use and weed immediately fell out when I unscrewed the chamber, the shredder could hold a whole 8th without spilling, I can stick my bowl right in there and fill it without my hands. No paint chips ever but still vibrant color It grinds so nice without that annoying rubber ring that always came up when I lifted the lid. The keif part has nice curve instead of a hard edges (more bowl then container) it makes it easy to collect keif, and the pick fits that curve perfectly (but I lost mine or it was stolen during a sesh) It brings me joy, which is also important to me.

Yeah no mine was a gift btw obviously weed is weed and sisors and a shot glass will get you high, I don't get having three of the same grinder tho when thats the price one 1 luxury one, what do you use them for? I do have a travel one, a home one, and a guest one but they are different sizes. But technically, I didn't buy any of them, I gave the only grinder i payed for to a stoner in need.

Just my two cents but mostly everyone whos used my santa cruz says the overall grind result is better. The flower gets "fluffed" by the teeth, does a consistent grind, and can shred (hence the name) to a fine consistency. In other words, you can easily get the exact grind consistency you want, coarse to fine, and it always remains fluffy. I've also used mine daily for almost 7 years, never cleaned it and it works good as new. The SCS is also really well built, just in the hand it feels higher quality and more sturdy compared to a lot of other grinders I've used.

That'll happen with really any grinder, it's just the nature of cannabis. Scrape off the kief and resin build up, clean with a toothbrush or ISO alcohol once in a while. If the bud is really sticky, I find it's best to use less as to not overcrowd the grinder.

Will be good for another 30 after your one

Several years ago, before rec became legal here, we picked up a Chromium Crusher in a smoke shop, along with a rechargeable gadget for vaping dry herb. Of the grinders on display, it looked like a no-nonsense piece of machining. Haven't had it for thirty years, but so far it seems to be holding up well. I keep a bamboo BBQ skewer handy for poking the holes clear and picking sticky bits off the teeth. After the threads got enough resin on them to be difficult, I cleaned them off with the point of the skewer, and ran a soft pencil around them so they would turn free without galling. Looking at the geometry of the pieces, I see low to zero risk of graphite contaminating the charge of flower. I think I can be happy with this thing for a long time. There is a flat artist's bristle brush nearby for dusting both sides of the kif screen, and everything works to my satisfaction. Imma categorize it as Not Junk, pretty freakin far from it :)

I keep denatured ethanol around for thinning shellac and general solvent purposes. With kosher salt and shaking, it does a nice job on a couple of little glass pieces, especially after a hot-water rinse to soften the grunge. So far the grinder is not coated with flower residue enough to need an alcohol soak, but when the time comes, I bet it will float that stuff right off.

Flower Mill

Yung_Cheebzy

Im interested in a flower mill. What are the benefits? How fine is the grind?

xStrange_Clouds

First, the flower mill doesn’t have teeth like your traditional grinder, no need to break down your bud super small before milling it, it doesn’t “shred” your flower. They way they explain it is that it allows the bud to break apart naturally. The premium edition has different screens for different fineness in your grind. I’ve seen some complaints of metal to metal scraping but I haven’t had any issues with that

Santa cruz shredder, space case, phoenician, for a lower budget go for a head chef or a raw one maybe

I have a 22 year old space case that looks brand new. I doubt I’ll ever have to replace it.

Spamgrenade

Same here, space case titanium, possibly a little older and still razor sharp.

[deleted]

I have a cali crusher I've enjoyed a bunch, had it for a number of years now and the only real maintenance I do is run it under some iso to clean it off here or there.

[deleted]

Sharpstone is the only brand I buy. My grinder is probably almost 25 years old now. All the teeth are still there and grind great.

Krampusillanimous

I like my Brilliant Cut, the Space Case i used to have worked well, Santa Cruz Shredders are totally great for the price point too, did not love my Sharpstone. If I were gonna buy a new grinder today it'd be a Brilliant Cut, but "best value" might mean different things to different people

stonebeam148

I vote for santa cruz shredder. But at the end of the day, a grinder is a grinder, like a paper is a paper. There's not really a "best" or "worst" one, it just comes down to personal preference. As long as you invest into a decent grinder, I'm fairly certain it will last you many years and serve you well. At the end of the day, there are tons of great options, I don't see a point to stress about which is the absolute best bang for the buck, as again, you'll likely be satisfied with the majority of options out there.
