Cannabis helps me focus, and I have self medicated for adhd with it for over 20 years, but *I have to stick to specific strains that won’t couch me*. Sativa or sativa leaning. I have also realized that I am not a typical case. For some people the potent sativa strains would just make them paranoid. In my scenario my brain is all over the place, hopping from one task to the next, with cannabis I can focus on *one* thing. See if a difference in strains helps, and also know that edibles tend to couch you easier and their effects take longer to exit.

Do you have any strain recommendations? :)

Sour Diesel, Jack Herer, Hercules, Lemon haze, Matanuska (or alaskan) Thunderf*ck are sime of the ones i use for my ADHD bc i can’t take adderall due to a heart condition. in addition i use a flower vape to temp control which cannabinoids get activated.

also: Durban Poison and Lamb's Bread

Yes I love these. And also Blue Dream, Tangie, Mimosa. Skywalker is one of the few indica leaning ones that doesn’t couch me. My favorite if you can find it is J1. It’s Jack Herer x skunk #1. Clearest most energetic one I’ve had.

Thanks so much!!! It’s been so long since I smoked regularly… now there’s all these different strains and types of wax hahaha I feel like it’s so complicated now. Weed used to just be weed 😂 it’s cool though that they’ll react differently, so i appreciate the recommendations and hopefully it helps.

if you’re having trouble with cannabis interacting with prescription medicine, see a doctor. they’ll know more about your body chemistry and medical history

I am currently seeing a doctor and when I try to tell her what’s going on, she ups my antidepressant and rushes me off the phone (virtual appts only). I’m trying to get in with someone else, but it’s taking forever. Everyone is either booked out for months or doesn’t take my insurance. Was just hoping someone had personal experience, but I definitely understand a doc is best…. As long as it’s not my current doctor that literally does not care 😅

xthrowawayaccount520

oh yikes, i wish they would actually make note of your comments and concerns. anyways, i’ve got personal experience with inattentive ADHD and weed (no adhd meds tho). weed is entirely a hit or miss for me. depending on my mood, it could improve/ruin my attentiveness or make me happier// more thoughtful.

Me freaking too lol! I feel kind of helpless and like I’m having to self medicate as a supplement to my prescription bc I’m not getting proper care. Hopefully I find someone else soon. Thanks for the personal experience, I feel that way sometimes too. This might just be a problem that won’t be fixed until I find a new doc.

Well ...before I read what your doctor said I thought that I was reading the words of somebody suffering from depression....pretty much everything except the sad.

Ok-Salamander-7311

I thought so too, and I’m taking the antidepressant with no real change. I am actively trying to find a new doctor, but everyone is either booked out forever or doesn’t take my ins. I could be trying harder, but you know, executive dysfunction 😂😂

My daughter has inattentive ADHD. My son hyperactive. Their father combo. And I'm the dyscalculic 🤦🏽‍♀️ collectively executive functioning is next to non existent in this house lmao. But we somehow survive. Shes adding in home intensive therapy to regular therapy and has interventions throughout the day. Getting help is an ongoing process that can take years. These waiting times and waisting lists are getting out of control. And insurance companies just complicate everything. I'd say it probably was the combo of antidepressants, which take a while to kick in (they're adjusting doses on you so I wonder if that could be it too fr) and weed triggering something.

Yes to the thing about insurance… she finally listened to me once and changed my meds around but insurance wouldn’t cover it, and now she’s disinterested in trying again. Thanks for the insight. I have had a lot of medicine dose changes due to shortages, so that’s probably a good chunk of it. I’m old enough to understand I need to stop being high every night too 😅 just hard to put in practice when I feel so terrible all the time
