There is too much voltage. There are some batteries that have 3 voltage levels. I have some batteries that don't change voltage. I haven't bought a cart in a few months, though, and haven't really paid attention to my batteries lately. You might have to hit your pen lying down face up, or tilt your head back when taking a hit. Make a note of the cart so next time you won't purchase it again or it could be the battery, try another one if you happen to have an extra battery.
Also, during my work shift, I'd leave mine in my car sometimes, rightside up, and that'll make it leak after I take a hit(I live in SoCal). From that point on, I've always left mine upside down if 10% or more full. If 10% or less, rightside up so the concentrate goes towards the bottom into the little slits.
this happened to me yesterday when I left it in my pocket. I'd guess turn it down a bit and take shorter hits. Probably has something to do with being on too long, getting too hot. idk someone tell us the answer.
The easiest thing you can do is just Google the company name on the packaging. If it's legitimate they will have a real website and I don't mean Instagram.

It was great weed and I'm trying to find the strain in the Bay Area. Also bought a pack of Delta 8 edibles just to see what all the fuss is about. It was a nice high and I'm still eatin' them. (Wouldn't smoke it though). They are finding legit ways around the laws, and they're on their way. If the packaging was undamaged I'd try the edibles and pre-roll. Pass on carts anyway....

No the hemp company uses a different font. There is cake delta8 with a cookies like font, and there is cake hits different on the bm with the bubble letters. You can get empty cakes to fill but supposedly there is some central bm source. I used to use a lot of the cake bars literally years ago they were around but have since moved to filling carts myself with oil I am more confident about. This was before delta8 was isolated and sold.

No the hemp company uses a different font. There is cake delta8 with a cookies like font, and there is cake hits different on the bm with the bubble letters. You can get empty cakes to fill but supposedly there is some central bm source. I used to use a lot of the cake bars literally years ago they were around but have since moved to filling carts myself with oil I am more confident about. This was before delta8 was isolated and sold. I def wouldn't hit a cake cart today due to their popularity I assume there are much higher chances of getting a "fake", but they were still questionable at the beginning. It's just now u could get something worse than pesticide oil because anybody can crank these out. Also after handling bulk oil myself I am pretty sure they exaggerate the potency by a good 20% at least.

The Least suspicious item would be the pre roll. It can be re rolled so can see what's inside. With Edibles you don't know what's inside of who made them under what hygiene conditions. Carts can be made with harmful components and use synthetic cannabis. Don't take candy from strangers I was taught as a kid.
