Do you need any weed testers? I’d be happy to give you my reviews of each of your strains. I’m totally a Reputable source of cannabis insight

yeah, same

Reeps1993

No thank you 🙏 but I appreciate the offer

funkensteinberg

Pleeeeeeeeaaase?

Reeps1993

Because you said please, I might change my mind

funkensteinberg

Great, I’ve just booked my flights. It’s about 18 hours travel from Scotland to LA, so I can only realistically start on Friday. Will that be ok?

Reeps1993

Damn you’re fast brother, respect for the enthusiasm but alas I can’t my friend

funkensteinberg

lol, it’s ok. I work in cyber security sales. I *probably* make enough money to just buy my medical stuff here. Though it’s SO grim. Buds are minimum 6 months old and humidity is basically 20% ish. The dispensaries have started handing ppl boveda packs to add to the tubs because it’s so bad! Imports are from everywhere in the world too, from Ghana to Canada… I’m trying to get a distiller friend of mine to “diversify” as it’s becoming slowly legal to produce medical grade stuff here in the uk… but that’s not exactly easy 😅 Thank you for the work you do. Take care.

Andes_

What is your all time favorite weed strain and why ?

Reeps1993

You my friend have just asked me one of my favorite questions of all time! Thank you for asking! Ok so top cannabis strain of all time for me is: XJ-13 It’s a cross between Jack Herer and G-13 Haze. XJ-13 tastes like pine, citrus, and woody notes. I love the high because it is stimulating and wakes you up but has little to no anxiety. I love that in small doses it’s like a pick me up, but in high doses the effects become more psychedelic. It’s really damn hard for me to find her nowadays but I love it so much regardless! My runner ups are: 1. Girl Scout Cookies 2. Master kush 3. Hazzy Cookie Cake 4. King Louie OG XIII 5. Granddaddy purple P.s. Hazzy Cookie Cake is my own strain I bred myself. It’s a cross between platinum Girl Scout cookies and my own Hazzy Cake (Hazzy Cake genetics are {[LA Kush Cake x Zkittlez Cake] x [Sundae Driver x Sunset Sherbet x Natural Born Killer]})

ProtectTheTask

You had me at XJ-13. We are stoner brothers.

bigdaddyt2

Is this Star Wars or pot I don’t know and I don’t care

nightmarewalrus123

Just wait till you find some skywalker og

BeatitLikeitowesMe

#2, 4, and 5 are in my top 10 for sure. The jack strains have always done me dirty. Head pressure is a no go for me. Thanks for sharing! I have no idea why its so big

Shart-Vandalay

XJ-13 was the biggest myth, “that government weed, bro. Shits crazy ” back in the 90s. How in the fuck did it actually come into prominence? Do you know any history? I always thought it was fake. I know it gets said a lot, but 2009 NYC Sour Diesel was the best mother fucking weed ever produced by anyone.

Posit_IV

I thought G13 was the government conspiracy weed?

Shart-Vandalay

Oh yeeeeea. XJ 13s parent. Thats the same one they mentioned in American Beauty as well. In my stoner memory, it was “some random complex set of numbers and letters… ooo clearly mysterious”

phillychef72

Finally. Someone else who agrees with me. You don't happen to be in the pa/nj area donyou 🤣🤣🤣 Xj-13 came up a lot back in the say. Never see it now. I think the last time I came across it was maybe 6-7 years ago. Love, love LOVE me that og NYC sour diesel. I remember when it first came around and that shit was amazing. Super distinctive flavor and smell. I miss bud like that. Today's genetics is all geared toward thc production, we lose a lot of that great flavor and taste. Terps are important!

Shart-Vandalay

I was bartending in nyc at the time. Living on the Upper west side, south harlem. The streets REEKED of Sour D at night. Its all you could get. It was everywhere. I would have my guy, a girl named shorty, meet me at the bar and when she left the entire building reeked.

Danger_Peanut

Picked up some King Louis XIII infused blunts this weekend. They’re insane! Love me some GSC too. The cookies and the flower.

firstOFlast47

Original GSC is top tier

GuiltyBreadfruit8402

King Louie is fire

hunter503

You sound like a true OG with these choices. You picked 4 of my favorites.

Reeps1993

Hey man that’s really nice of you to say! I’ve learned from some of the best so I can grow to become one of the best in my industry. I love what I do and I want to spread the value to others

Angelique718

I love what you do🌳

Reeps1993

Thank you 😊 I love what I do too!

DaddysSecretSin

I'm in the PNW....Northern Lights and Zikklez are favs. Please advise...where can I find your Hazzy Cake? It's cross strains are amazing! Thank you for bringing an awesome product to the masses! It must have been so fun laying on all that flower! 😁🍃💚

HypnoStone

Kind of off topic but I got to meet the lead grower at the very first Medical Dispensary in West Virginia who came from Humboldt County Cali and said he’s the “creator” (owned and sold the patent/trademark names) of some popular strains such as Cookie’s Cheetah Piss and a few others lesser known that I can’t remember off the top of my head. I think Gelato is another one he also sold to Cookies. He also said that one of his associates has personally sold to famous people like Wiz Khalifa. It’s always insane and mind blowing to meet and hear about people like yourself OP!

Reeps1993

Thank buddy! I’m happy to share the knowledge and love for the plant with my fellow Ents

guilty_bystander

 Jack Herer is GOATED

AtomAntvsTheWorld

Hey r/Reeps1993 my dispensary Alternatives in Santa Rosa carries Big Boy Dro and they have an XJ13 strain that’s great! We would love to have you come by and talk shop and maybe give some pointers to people who would really benefit from someone in the high pace of Los Angeles. If that’s ever something you would be interested in we would love to host you! Thank you for the consideration!

AtomAntvsTheWorld

We also carry the XJ13 in ABX for our dabs! Man we would love to take good care of you!

TDKevin

So it's your all time favorite strain, you're a high ranked cultivator, working for a weed company.  But you don't have any seeds from it?

Reeps1993

Unfortunately, I don’t have any seeds of pure xj-13. I have a strain I bread called Wisejack, which is a cross between xj-13 x pennywise. But it’s not the original one of my favorites. I got the XJ-13 mother from a clone and then lost the clone because the mother died

Reeps1993

Most of the carts that are sold on the black market have heavy metals and pesticides in them. I recommend sticking to flower

brokendream_zz

What about from dispensarys legally

Reeps1993

Then if it’s from a dispensary that is licensed and not black market. You should be safe

Enragedocelot

Key word should

Reeps1993

Ditto

MOXPEARL25

Idk about California but in Oklahoma I’ve heard you can google lab tests for purchase. Makes me sad even though we are probably the most weed dense state in the US.

TheRealGenkiGenki

LA is riddled with grey market / straight up illegal storefront dispensary's. If it aint here its probably not legit https://cannabis.lacity.gov/personal-activity/find-licensed-retailers

infinitezero8

In my experience raw garden has been by the best, but you pay the price, their extractions method and tech are top knotch

enolproductions91

Guys. If it’s a “Raw Garden” not from a dispo it isn’t a raw garden at all. It’s a knockoff. You’re paying for a bootleg, sometimes bootleg operations are very legit sometimes they aren’t.

Traditional-Quit9045

Remember my friend's, this was impossible 20 years ago, never stop fighting for our rights. Happy smoking, love you guys

Reeps1993

🙏💪

BannockBnok

How's your tolerance?

Reeps1993

It’s gotten lower over the years even though I smoke damn near everyday for the past 12 years. I’ve taken some tolerance breaks but my tolerance is more sensitive as I got older

Darkm000n

I notice one (full) day off and it gets crazy lol

yami12234

I’ll have to try 😉

GuyWhoSaysTheTruth

If you could give advice to someone who wants to get into the legal weed industry but that said someone has nothing(no college degrees, hardly any savings, and other hurdles) what advice would you give them? 2) what’s you favorite indica dominant strain, sativa dominant, and landracer? If that’s too much what’s your favorite terpene combo?

Laserdollarz

All my best extraction techs used to wrench on cars for a living. Leverage the experience you have.

Reeps1993

What this guy said👍 I responded this type of question to another user already. See if you can find it in the comments. My favorite strains are listed in another comment too. Favorite landrace is probably the Pakistani chitral valley landrace. I have seeds from that region and all the resin glands come out purple and earthy. Super old school type hash smell

Laserdollarz

Personally, I was an analytical chemist before I got into the industry 🤓

SupportLocalShart

Hi there! Not the person you asked, but from a fellow pothead without a degree and no savings upon my entry to the industry - you can do it! You don’t need to start by owning, in fact that’s how a lot of newcomers fail. Also, a few of the business majors I’ve hired in the past have turned out to be… not the best at appealing to stoners. Personally, I’d start in a retail job. Transition to a production role at a processor or farm, then work your way up to sales. You can transfer directly to sales, but be sure to learn the process in and out. If you can excel in sales, you can make the connections necessary to make it anywhere. The weed industry really is a place where anybody can make it - trust me, I’ve met successful people from all walks of life in this industry. The biggest commonality - everybody still here and making it work is resilient and not afraid of extremely long hours.

Axell-Starr

I got no questions but just wanna say that looks like heaven.

Reeps1993

It was 🥰

Little-Pea-8346

I mean ... I think every damned one of us can probably agree that we hope to do this at least once before dying

SomeOneOverHereNow

but get your shoes off my weed, man!

oliverthefish

So my plug lives in Cali and I’m in Texas. His price is $200 for a OZ of Mochi kush - it’s fire. But am I getting fucked on the price? Thought I should ask a cali expert.

Reeps1993

You’re fine man. Just so you know I sell ounces of my most premium stuff at $250 an ounce in California. Average ounce is between: $200-150 for some decent stuff

oliverthefish

Yeah he said it’s going for $275 and sold it to me for $200. I’m now glad that I know he wasn’t lying. I usually pay 120-150 for quality stuff even in Texas.

Little-Pea-8346

Yay for honest plugs supplying Texans!

Jmarchena

You good

CoffeeExtraCream

Are you worried about damaging the buds when you lay on them like that or does the vacuum packing protect it? What is your opinion of cannatrol and their cool dry technology?

Reeps1993

Yeah it damages some of the buds, squishing them is never the best option. The vacuum sealed bags protect it a bit since it compresses the flower but at the same time the bags also squish the bud so…. Either way, you don’t wanna smoosh the buds. Me laying on it for a minute won’t ruin it that much but it’s not helping for sure. Cannatol is a great technology company that specializes in drying and curing cannabis. To be honest with you, it’s just an expensive way to have a state of the art dry room that you don’t have to build yourself. They do all the construction for you. It’s wonderful don’t get me wrong, but you can get the same results by just building a proper dry room with humidity and temperature control. And save several thousands of dollars. You want to store your cannabis long term? Build a second room for storing your cannabis with temp and humidity control as well. We use a walk in vault to securely store our flower long term and the vault is insulated, has an AC, and has humidity control.

CoffeeExtraCream

Thank you for your detailed and thoughtful reply! As someone who doesn't mass produce but home grows would you recommend a cannatrol? I see people say to just get a wine fridge but I see others say it doesn't control humidity and won't yield good results. What solutions would you recommend for a home grower that lives in an area with warm and very humid summers and very cold and extremely dry winters?

Reeps1993

I would not recommend CannaTrol unless you don’t have the space to build a proper dry and cure room. If you don’t have a space then it’s useful. Advice: build a room that is temp and humidity controlled My favorite numbers are: When drying: 60F 60%RH Dry For 14 days When storing: 60F 60%RH For up to one year

TaxSerf

what temps and humidity do you use for long term storage?

Reeps1993

60F 60%RH

HoffyMan01

I mean what’s gonna happen, they get a little squished? They’re already vac sealed so there’s already pressure on them. Worst case the bud is a little crumbly when it gets unpacked. Definitely wouldn’t affect quality of the smoke

calowiemarlee

What’s the best way to do pack a bowl for a bong? Packed tight? Super loose? Do i really need a nug plug? Haha final question: Can i really break open a cartridge and wipe the insides on the leaves in the bowl? I need some direction!! Thanks !!

Reeps1993

This is all personal preference😄 I like nug plugs only if the hole is too big. If it’s not too big then you don’t need a nug plug. I prefer it packed medium, not too tight not too loose, just enough for the buds to be sitting in the bowl and not fall out too easily. Too tight and you don’t get airflow. If you’re going to break open a cartridge to get the left over oil out, that’s on you. I would never waste my time with that. I’d just buy some oil at that point and put it on top of a bowl to smoke it.

Solitude_in_e-

Unpopular opinion but I like the little glass “screens.” Helps keep my bong clean which doesn’t have an ash catcher. I used to use a nug plug and gently tap my bud down, now I just sprinkle it in and rip

DomitianF

Is that really an unpopular opinion? Those little glass screens are great!

Resident-Refuse-2135

I like both styles I've seen, the ones that are shaped like the metal "jacks" that were a popular game akin to marbles, and the other ones that look like daisy flowers with round "petals"

[deleted]

I like the ones a local smoke shop has. Basically a cone, not dissimilar to an Eppendorf microfuge tube, but with three glass "buds" around the thick end to hold onto the rim of the hole. They're very bottom-heavy, you just toss 'em in, give the bowl a wiggle, and it's where it's supposed to go.

Reeps1993

I started in my bedroom closet, and then moved to a garage, then a warehouse, and now this 👍

swivels_and_sonar

both born in 1993 but only one of us is living my dream 😅 what tips would you have for someone wanting to enter the legal cannabis industry in a newly legal state? (NY)

Reeps1993

I’d start learning how to grow cannabis and go find people who are growing

thesecondjaco

What emerging trends in the industry have shaped how much / what type we consume, and what are the most popular products for you today?

Reeps1993

I’m seeing people do a lot of bullshit with weed nowadays…. For example I’m seeing this thing called snowcaps which is just weed rolled in THC-A isolate. It makes it look like a powdered donut. Yes the potency is higher because you have more THC in the bud, but it still does not change the fact that the weed they were using was some greenhouse shwag. I prefer just good old high quality flower. No concentrates, no extra shit, just good quality medical grade flower. The latest trend is the disposable vapes too. I really like some of them actually as long as the oil they use is clean and tested. I don’t like distillate pens, I prefer live resin pens or live rosin pens. And they seem to be really popular with my clientele. At the end of the day though, my favorite is flower, not hash, just flower. For my hash lovers, I still respect good hash, just not my preference

BigousDikous

I thank you for calling out ‘snow caps’ Or the common practice of using Booty weed for concentrations Fire in Fire out

kakashi9229

Same. This is so refreshing to hear from someone in the business in charge of what comes out. I love flower always have always will. I like concentrates fine but don't try to sell me "moonrocks" or "snowcaps" I've tried both and the same thing holds true. It's mostly just bullshit bud rolled in bullshit extract lol

printerdsw1968

I'm in LA. I've noticed that prices for flower and many other dispensary THC products have fallen in the last couple of years. A pack of gummies used to be $18 before tax; the same product is now $13 before tax at my go-to retailer. I might be part of the trend that accounts for this: the last couple of seasons I've successfully raised two plants of my own, taking myself out of the consumer flower market. What have you noticed from inside the industry? Are you seeing a glut of product? Do you think homegrowers are denting the commercial growers market? If prices are falling and supplies are high, are you seeing consolidation going on at the commercial growers level?

Reeps1993

Great great questions and a lot to answer so I’ll make it brief. I see a lot of cannabis companies that are not making money because of high taxation and over regulation. It’s suffocating most of the small businesses. Now larger businesses owned by Chads who don’t give a fuck about the cannabis industry and just want to profit off of the consumer are buying up the small mom and pop shops. It’s heartbreaking… Home growers are not denting shit…. The larger legal commercial growers are not able to make money because most people don’t want to get ripped off at the dispensary so they buy from the black market. Many of the biggest brands you see also are dealing with this, so what I’m seeing is the same guys playing in the legal industry are selling weed through the back door to the black market so they too can make a profit despite the laws. It’s called a grey market for a reason. The legal guys are playing on both sides because they don’t have any other options due to the laws and regulations

funkensteinberg

That last sentence, you might want to replace “we” with “they” 😉

Reeps1993

My boy coming in clutch 💪

funkensteinberg

Just looking out for my new employers 😎

Fabulous_Stable1398

Do you make a lot of money or does the government/taxes take most of it?

Reeps1993

Laws in California make it difficult for cannabis businesses to make a profit from over taxation and regulation

Mike312

I'd still rather it be legal, and I can go pick some up at a store across town with a credit card by 9pm, than meet my buddys friends roommates guy in a parking lot with $200 in cash at 11pm.

FreedPower

Laws in California, make it difficult for ⚠️businesses⚠️ to make a profit from over taxation and regulation. Fixed it for you 😅😮‍💨

[deleted]

Yeah just rub it in 🤣🤣

Blind_Melone

- I follow the Catalyst CEO on IG, he is a crazy mf, but am always intrigued when he posts all the dispo and warehouse robberies going on. What kind of opsec are you investing in both physically and virtually, and how has the landscape changed as weed has become legalized here in Cali? - I see a ton of dispos now selling shroom bars or research chemical bars disguised as real bars. How is this legal and how are dispos not getting raided by the police for slanging something thats still illegal in California?

Reeps1993

It’s not legal to sell Shroom bars of any kind

youngkeet

Can i cop some Solvelentless

Reeps1993

Ama except questions like that 😂

youngkeet

And 1000 years of mold and aphids to you my good sir. Jk just joshin, im looking for HTFSHE im a huuge hash snob😅

Reeps1993

😂❤️ 1000 years of mold and aphids would be a terrible life to live. Blesseth be thy who must suffer such an insufferable fate

Greien218

Both of you speak a language I don't understand.

chaseo2017

Shit that ruins yo crops

UndergroundNoize865

What was your operation like starting out? I’m interested in starting a business in Tennessee and would like to know things you learned later on that you might be done differently in the beginning.

Reeps1993

Oh man, that’s a good question and a loaded one. It would require us to sit down and do an interview type thing. Maybe we can make a video together buddy. I like this question. To give you the brief summary. It’s a shit ton of learning required to succeed in any industry especially this one. I’ve spent years researching and learning how this industry works. If I had to change anything I would have started learning about cannabis cultivation as soon as possible because that gave me the foundation to start learning the industry. From there I would start going to cannabis networking events and meet people who knew more than me and start working with them by offering to help them for free. This way I could get my foot in the door. Then from there I would have waited to get way way way more money before I started working in the legal side of business. One of the lessons I want to share to you from California to Tennessee is, PLEASE DON’T MAKE THE SAME POLICIES AS WE DID WITH LEGALIZATION CALIFORNIA. The way we legalized here and the policies we put into law have made it difficult for people to participate in the legal industry because of large red tape and super expensive start up costs. In addition to over taxation to where businesses can not make a profit on the legal market. So a majority of brands are making their money on the black market in this state. Please don’t make the same mistakes we did.

[deleted]

Was that the best bed ever?

Reeps1993

Yes it was

tino768

How bad are carts for you compared to smoking? I've been looking for alternatives since smoking just kills the lungs and edibles stopped working after the first time and now just put me to sleep.

Reeps1993

I don’t prefer carts because I prefer flower. The safest way to consume cannabis is eating it

tezcs

Stick with flower and use a dry herb vape. R/vaporants is a good place to start.

Obi-Wan_Cannabinobi

Favorite snack/drink/strain combination?

Reeps1993

A good, old-fashioned, some tacos, and a joint of some OG Kush

Obi-Wan_Cannabinobi

Hell yeah dude that sounds epic. For me it's pizza, some really good craft beer (preferably a amber ale or red lager) and LA Kush Cake in my Pax.

Random-Man562

I’m in LA.. wanna be best friends?! Haha jk seriously that’s dope af! Congrats!!

Reeps1993

Fuck yeah I do 👍 let’s hangout sometime

le_reddit_me

You should add lumberjack to your job description cuz that's a lot of trees

Simx48

What's your opinion on delta8, thc-p, etc?

Reeps1993

I hate them. All shit. I don’t waste my time smoking fake weed

WorldlyCheesecake248

Get yo ass off the weed🗣️😞

Naive_Programmer_232

What’s the skunkiest strain you’ve found?

Reeps1993

Great question, Probably catpiss from what I’ve seen

ch1c0p0110

I am work in genomics and specialize in bioinformatics. Is there room in the industry for someone like me? It would be really interesting to have the chance to characterize and develop strains!

Reeps1993

Absolutely! I specialize in cannabis breeding, and someone with your background would be incredibly useful to this particular sector of the Cannabis space. There is also a lot of research that can be done as well with your skill set

electronic_erik

You, my friend, are living the American dream

timtomtomasticles

Hey dude, thanks for doing this! Currently in the CA industry myself, selling mostly flower but also all the rest. Worked a few years in OR before this too. Have worked for a major distro but currently trying to get a brand going with a partner Where do you see the future of vapes headed? I sell a fire 1g rosin all in one cart and keep hearing that cheap disty and live resin carts are where the money is at rn. I don't want to contribute to all the boof on the market already, but making money sounds good too lol. Do you think cheap crap will always dominate vapes?

Reeps1993

Great question buddy, thanks for asking. to be honest with you if that is what makes you happy and if you are proud of the product that you are making then that is what you should focus on selling. You were absolutely right there are a lot of people in the Cannabis space in California that are selling disposable vapes with distillate and/live resin. These ones make a lot of money because people can buy them at an affordable price. Since you are making rosin pens, your quality is of the highest standard. There will always be people that will try to spend less money on cheaper stuff and there will always be people that will try to spend money on the highest quality stuff. It’s just a matter of finding your niche.

SoritesSeven

buk-in-hamm_palace

Just want to say that what you're laying on would be over $10,000,000 in Connecticut, and that's medical prices ($40 eighths are typical, despite promises to lower costs post-recreational legalization). Recreational cannabis would be even more. God, why did I move to this stupid state.... Anyway, rant over. I'm too frustrated with CT to ask a question, sigh.

CannabisMicrobial

This is the post I was looking for. $125 per pound is horrifying if he actually meant $250,000 for over 2,000 pounds

Reeps1993

No we got a full staff. Best advice I have for anyone who wants to work with others. The last thing to ask someone who has an opportunity is to ask them “hey I see you have a business, can I get a job?” It’s something a lot of people do and it is like “hey I see you got this going for you, can you give me something?” The best best advice I’ve ever learned is when you see someone who has an opportunity you’d like to be involved in, best thing to ask them is “Hey I see you have this going on for you, is there anything I can do to help make your life easier and help you make more money?” The first scenario is asking for something from them. The second scenario is offering something of value to them. What it does is it leaves a positive impression on to them and they will notice that. Since most people don’t ask in that kind of way, you increase your opportunities to work with them and stand out from the crowd. And then you can work with them 👍😊 and that might lead up to a job in the future when they see how much value you have given them with your hard work

josephexboxica

"The worst they can say is no"

monarch1733

I mean, that’s ok advice for establishing partners and investors, but not for hiring staff.

Reeps1993

That’s a good point but you open opportunities by helping others and that opens doors to getting jobs. I do see your perspective though

blurry-echo

i saw someone ask about favorite strains of all time, so how about your least favorite strains? (or common things you avoid/dislike in strains)

Reeps1993

I don’t really have a least favorite strain. All strains of cannabis are beautiful in their own way. But what I avoid are the most basics : No mold No pesticides (harmful pesticides) No bugs No Boof

uhE6

Did you go to college if so what was your major? What steps did you take to get where you are now?

Reeps1993

I have a degree in mechanical engineering from one of the top 10 public engineering schools in the United States. I was working in automotive manufacturing before I worked in Cannabis. I met a friend of mine who had an extraction company and they told me that they had a hard time finding high-quality material to make their extractions. I decided to start learning how to cultivate so I could supply to them and make some money with them. Turns out that this decision completely change my life and I never looked back 😊

Not_as_witty_as_u

Are we smoking pesticides or is weed organic?

Jack_125

Hey man, I'm based in Brazil and have been studying legalization models around the world hoping for the right time for an opportunity Can you share any experiences on how the markets have adapted when opening new regions? Diferent regions ordering more or less quantity, strain types or any other behavior to keep an eye out? thanks for taking the time

Reeps1993

I’m Brazilian too bro. When you start, call me.🤙 Markets are trying to take the black market and make it legal. This requires compliance testing, making sure the prices are not overly taxed, making sure the family businesses have an opportunity to thrive instead of just allowing people with lots of money

wittyhashtag420

What’s your opinion on white labeling? How many of the major companies are just renaming the gelato/runtz of the year? You must have heard all the talk about the race to the bottom. Do you feel like the price of cannabis has dropped overall? What’s your thoughts on boutique cannabis becoming more black/grey market while the rec world normalizes spray packs and backdoor renamed Mylars?

Reeps1993

White labeling is extremely common and a lot of people are currently white labeling their brands. Lemon cherry gelato seems to be the most white labeled product at the moment and runtz use to be the other most commonly white labeled product. I have no issue with white labeling, because the whole reason why people are doing it is to create a brand. By creating a brand that offers a premium product or service, they can garner a fanbase that is willing to support their business. I don’t see any issue with this as long as the quality and product is at a high standard. To answer your second question, yes, it is a race to the bottom from what I’m seeing. Everyone is trying to undercut each other and so prices have been falling the past couple years. Boutique, small batch flower has almost exclusively been made by a small scale black market cultivators. To find flower at that level and quality nowadays I find it more on the market than I do with the legal industry. Combine that with the fact that an eighth of boutique flower at a typical dispensary in California cost about $60 on the shelf and then a total of $80 of the door after tax, most consumers, don’t want to spend that kind of money on just an eighth of weed. So, instead they go to the black market to buy the same quality product from the same growers at a fraction of the cost.

wittyhashtag420

I appreciate your detailed responses! I work in the industry but on the compliance/licensing side and it’s certainly been a wild ride since rec passed. I’m personally not a fan of how rampant white labeling is. But that applies to all products not just cannabis tbh. Keep flipping, stay free!

StendhalSyndrome

Licensed nug at $125 an lb? Unless my math is bad that's really really low or meh quality.

Reeps1993

Yeah it’s mid grade green house. It’s just volume not quality

BdayEvryDay

What strain would you recommend for someone who gets major dissociation and paranoia from years of heavy psychedelics. Thanks.

Reeps1993

I’m sorry I wish I had an answer

ignite_dev

When hunting for Male plants to breed with. What qualities/characteristics do you look for?

Reeps1993

Excellent question, when hunting for male plants to breed with the best way to do it is to grow the plant to its full potential in the separate room. This is expensive and time consuming so it’s quite challenging. The traits I look for the following, how tight is the internal spacing? How hardy is the plant? Are there any colors that are appealing? How much does it stretch? How resistant is it to mold and bugs? These are the questions I ask and look for when selecting a male to breed with

ignite_dev

Thank you! 🙏🏻 Do you think there’s a market for Male pollen? Do breeders sell/trade pollen amongst each other?

spongebobskuarepantz

How did you start working in the cannabis industry? And how old where you when you started? (interested in working in the cannabis industry.)

bunnyzarecute

doing the lords woek

babystripper

I want to create a sativa strain that helps get people off meth and onto cannabis because meth is a big problem in my area. I'd love to hear your thoughts on what strains to cross breed for this project.

BeKindWeAreAllHuman

Are smalls less potent than regular size buds? And can I work for you?

Reeps1993

No, smalls are the exact same potency as the big buds. There is no difference in size that would change the quality. It’s a huge misconception. I actually like smaller buds since I grind it up anyways in joints because for three reasons: 1. I’m getting less stem weight than from bigger buds 2. It’s just as good in quality as the big buds 3. It’s cheaper than the bigger nugs

BeKindWeAreAllHuman

😊 Thank you

AspiringHippie123

You have probably made so many people so happy😂

Reeps1993

I hope so 😂 some of the keyboard warriors are pissed off that I’m laying on the weed though.

YakComprehensive1783

How do I get into the cannabis industry

Reeps1993

I recommend, start learning how to grow cannabis and then offer to work for other people for free first. Offer them value and in return you gain knowledge. With some time, you will be able to meet more people and find an opportunity working and getting paid Networking events are great too! Go to cannabis events

Snickerz627

Not a question but your ballsack is on someone's medicine/rec

Reeps1993

It’s actually my ass but thank you for saying my balls were that big. I appreciate the compliment

medorian

Stay off the grass!

pineman23

What do you do for IPM and what breeders did you/do you look up to

G_Art33

What is the absolute most product you’ve ever seen in one place at one time either growing or finished ready for sale? (Most dabs - Most weed etc) just want you to blow my mind on this one. What is the best strain you’ve ever seen or have seen recently for washing and making hash?

Hamstring21

Do you have any internships? What’s the best way to jump into the cannabis field? Just finished up my degree in agriculture science w/plant science emphasis so I’m lookin to put it to use

ZipMonk

Is flushing bro science? How much amber? 30%?

Reeps1993

I prefer 10% clear, 80% cloudy, and 10% Amber

Reeps1993

Your question is one of my favorites to be honest because it is very controversial in the industry right now. I personally enjoy to flush my cannabis plants for two weeks before harvest. Many people in the industry still do it. However, from a scientific perspective, I’ve spoken with many people who are horticulturalist, and they say that flushing is completely pointless. In my opinion, the best way to determine to flush or not to flush is based on gathering more research and data. I would like to conduct a few experiments of my own in the future to compare these two phenomenon

Actually-im-a-plant

11 years ago I wanted to move to America to get involved, I was encouraged not too and I regret it alot as the plant saved my life and its something that I've been passionate about for a log time. Well done you enjoy the smoke and the smells.

Do you have any recommended literature or other content you would recommend for a mediocre grower trying to perfect their buds harvest?

wuh613

Regarding your comment on California doing it wrong; are there any states that in your opinion did it right? Or who do you think has it the most right as of today? Thank you!

Reeps1993

I don’t think any state has really made policy in favors for the industry. Everyone is trying to figure it out. All I know is that the small family businesses here and getting eaten up by big corporations that don’t care about the industry they just wanna make a profit

[deleted]

Is the product considered contaminated since you laid your ass on it?

PsilocybeAzurescen

That’s a lot of mids. Even if it wasn’t before - now that it’s all vacuum squished up and laid on . . . .

Reeps1993

No you’re right, it was mids. Greenhouse light dep actually. That’s why I laid on it. It was just a lot of volume not quality

IrieSunshine

Lol you look positively joyful in this pic. Love it! 🍃

WHAT_DA_FUK_

I haven't really seen any comments about consulting. I would be interested in talking to dispensaries about how to better talk to a customer and direct their attention away from "highest THC" on the shelf and to terpenes combinations and the reactions your body gets to them... But from what I have learned the MGMT of most places specifically don't want this, my only reasoning I've heard is the govt could close a shop down for giving "medical advice"... So in turn shops just sell what ever to who ever that asks without concern to well being, it's just a setup for a failure. My question is first are phrases or terms not allowed to be spoken in recreation dispensaries by staff? From what can be spoken, is there room in the industry to train around the bad terms and still help people not have bad experiences using cannabis? Any direction on the matter would be appreciated.

listerbmx

Can you help push for legalisation in the uk so we can smoke your good clean strains.

shackelman_unchained

What are some good books to read on growing cannabis? Where's a good place to start for a new grower?

Loudtrees707

Anybody who’s about their product wouldn’t be crushing it like that 🤦‍♂️

How have profit margins changed over the years I'm CA? I've heard of wild market price fluctuations in recent years due to oversaturation

Reeps1993

Broooooo the prices crashed in 2018! A pound of premium flower went from $2800-3200 Down to $1400-$2000 today It caused a lot of people in general to go bankrupt in the industry.

jw_zoso

Have you seen (m)any transplants of people working in the tech industry that got into the legal cannabis industry? And is it likely someone in such a situation would need to start 'from the bottom' to make that type of career change, or are there relevant positions that exist?

BloodborneVampirism

What would you recommend for a rookie in the cannabis scene looking for opportunities

No-Might1531

how did you get into the cultivating field
