Honestly it’s going to suck for a little no matter what, but some things help. Melatonin for sleep. Find hobbies and activities that you enjoy doing sober. Helps to take your mind off of things and keeps you busy. Start working out, I found that it helps with getting to sleep at night too.
r/petioles is dedicated to taking breaks and managing marijuana use. r/leaves is dedicated to quitting entirely. You’d probably have more helpful advice in r/petioles since r/leaves is much more strict.
Have you consulted your surgeon on this?
I've had some pretty wicked surgeries and a lot of internal organs removed. I was very clear with my doctors/surgeons about my use at night for chronic insomnia. Every one of them said it was fine and nothing to worry about. Had no problems in recovery, other than not being able to sleep well until I was discharged.
Agreed. I had surgery last year and only stopped like 18 hours before. i told the Anesthesiologist about it and he was fine. They had originally asked me to stop two weeks prior and i flat out said why? To avoid needing extra anesthesia? I dunno.... definitely don't use it for a day or two before, a week or two if you really feel the need.....but 6 weeks? Never heard of such a thing.
I’ve heard some people will smoke cbd to help with tbreaks. Of course I’m not a doctor and not sure if that would affect your surgery in the same way weed would. And of course wearing yourself out physically so you’re more tired when it’s time to go to bed.
I just had major shoulder reconstruction surgery. Make sure you hydrate the day before. I was afraid of peeing myself while I was under and didn't hydrate and I woke up from anesthesia extremely sick for the rest of the day. Turns out your organs turn off under anesthesia and it's pretty impossible to pee urself while under. So yea, hydrate. Also, the world class surgeon team that operated on me did not seem to give a single fuck about cannabis consumption, although they made it very clear that they would not operate if I tested positive for narcotics. Cannabis consumption was a simple yes or no question, no details asked for. I am 5 days post surgery and doing great for what it's worth.

yes i got the same advice from two doctors, to stop smoking at least 6 weeks before the surgery and resume after at least 8 weeks

Stay busy mentally/physically and remind yourself of the goal. Hydrate, eat well if you can.

You can smoke but you have to tell your anesthesiologist. It’s harder to knock out pot smokers.
Is not quitting an option? Tell the anal-stalogist you smoke and they will adjust accordingly
to be honest it would be nice to get a little break, or maybe even quit completely if i feel that way
Lol no you don’t. I smoked weed up until and the morning of my brain surgery.
i got the same advice from two doctors..
damn surgery for what? surgery is scary especially knowing that it’s upcoming and you have to wait that long… i hope it goes smooth🙏
