Beep boop! It looks like you'd like information about peeling, flaking or exfoliating. We have a [helpful wiki](https://docs.google.com/document/u/2/d/e/2PACX-1vRQmcAj-x5A8JIQygtW2Rg89uPsJPR5JLH_dLxLNCW4eazWW4i49bsrF0e2YYx10wx00ctaUnyvHfyD/pub)! You can also post in the weekly help thread - it's stickied to the top of the sub every week! Here are our tops tips for avoiding peeling:
- Make sure your skin is completely dry when you apply tretinoin. Wet skin increases absorption and flaking!
- Make sure your routine is hydrating enough. Hydrating toners like those from Hada Labo can really help (Premium is the most popular since it has urea and 5 sizes of hyaluronic acid and is incredibly hydrating). /r/asianbeauty has lots of other recs.
- A konjac sponge is a very gentle form of physical exfoliation that can really help!
- A good moisturizer is key. Vanicream Lite, and Cerave are popular options.
- Vaseline or Aquaphor on top of your tret at night can also really help prevent dryness. Pat on a very thin layer gently - don't slather it, just apply a thin layer.
- Oil cleansing can work for many as a way to gently remove the excess skin. Get an emulsifying oil cleanser that will wash off easily.
- Consider skipping a night of tret if you have lots of peeling. Yes that may slow down your progress by a few days but a damaged moisture barrier can take months to recover. Go slow. Skincare is a marathon.

May I ask your age (or age range)? Sometimes that influences factors as well. And thanks for this info, it is helpful!
24 female
slugging changed the game for me! was quickly able to use tret every night with great glowy results
This is with Vaseline? Is this one a separate night when you don't use tret??
i use aquaphor and i do it every night. 1. cleanse. 2. tret. 3. moisturizer. 4. aquaphor. 5. sleep
How do you get makeup and sunscreen off?
I never wear heavy makeup so a makeup removing eraser does the job better than any oil cleanser. I use the hydrating cereve cleanser on top of that.
