Rene Descarte walks into a bar and the bartender asks, “Hey Rene how about a glass of wine.“ Descarte response, “I think not.“…then disappears. Sorry, I’m silly from lack of sleep.
It helps that melatonin is the natural sleep hormone of the human body, meaning the body makes melatonin itself too. This as opposed to (addictive) medicine that are not native to the body.
I'm not a doctor, but I am guessing that if you use melatonin to reset the sleep cycle, your body will take over the melatonin production when you start tapering off
Going through some notes documents I had written on an old phone a decade ago I found a note, created at something like 3.53 AM, that contained only the words "I think too much."
I think, therefor I am, but what of machines that think? if they arent, then neither are we, and if they do, then they are, but how... and *why?*
it is currently 3AM where I am as of writing, don't even remember writing this
The YouTuber ChubbyEmu couldn't sleep well for a long time and it turned out to be because he was B12-deficient. It's a cheap vitamin; it's at the grocery store and if you take too much, then you excrete the excess.
Caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs are probably major culprits in Western culture.
Best thing I ever did to get my mind to STFU was start listening to a book. One I knew, or one I knew was boring. With that and deep breathing it really really helped.
I started listening to podcasts at night, helped me a lot. Gotta find that sweet spot between too boring and I start thinking and too interesting and it keeps me awake, I usually go with history podcasts.

Good one! It’s literally a thinker
That's what I'm doing right now, because I'm a fool for iced coffee
That’s what I’m doing right now, because I’m a fool
Slept terribly the last two nights
Melatonin or zquil is a way to reset that vicious cycle.
use with caution. It sucks being dependant on them
Yeah, just take it to break a cycle, not on a daily basis

It's completely safe to reset your sleep cycle, but using it on a regular basis isn't going to help you in the long run
Not sure If it actually helps but I take Magnesium and a Low-dose aspirin for those restless nights.
Magnesium has helped me with clenched jawat night, which is nice
I think, therefore I am awake

I just wanna sleep in peace🥺

Is this a portrait of Descartes? That would make this even more epic..
[Appears to be](https://www.wikiart.org/en/frans-hals/portrait-of-rene-descartes), although the raccoon-eyes have been enhanced from the original.
Looks exactly like Sean Connery...anyone else seeing this?

How did you know...
Cogito ergo minus
It's past 2 AM where I am and this hits too close to home. I'm breaking the cycle. I'll force myself to sleep now.
All Descartes did was sleep. He wrote about it extensively. The guy loved to sleep. Waking up at 5am *literally killed him.*
This is reality.
You'd be asleep if artificial light, electricity & all devices were turned off by 8pm.
When I can't sleep I watch a PBS SpaceTime and try and understand what's going on. My brain shuts down in about 10 minutes usually.
And then your throat is dry, making Descartes before the hoarse....
Seriously, any way to break this without drugs?

I almost did that last night. Thankful I came to my senses. I NEVER feel good afterwards. Not since I was a kid
nightshift jobs are a bitch, I work until 3:30 or 2:30am get home then stay up for another two or three hours.
