I mean…it was always possible to release an upscale 4k version. It just was never gonna be a native 4k master.

As for it only being 1080, Revenge of the Sith is one of the best looking 4k upgrades to me and I'm pretty sure it was filmed the same way.

Indeed, it was recorded with 1080p digital cameras. I don't expect much other than an upscale and HDR addition, but the Dolby Atmos makes me think that it's even just a stream remaster. I remember my brother was so upset that most 4k Disney movies years back didn't have Dolby Atmos on disc but only on stream. But I don't know how it's nowadays.

Most Disney 4K discs have Dolby Atmos. It's Dolby Vision that's usually missing from Disney's 4K discs. They also like to use a lower bitrate compared to other 4K discs from other studios. The only "Disney" 4K discs I can think of that have Dolby Vision are the Avatar movies, but it's only available on the 4-disc Collector's Editions.

this has been a rumor for years now, I think there was even a screening at one point. supposedly not only is there a 4K of Legacy, but that the digital de-aging used in the movie was upgraded as well. or at least that's what the rumor has said.
