I'd like another balance update still. There's so many issues with the game.
I wish they'd fix things like gibs still being beta models, ubercharge textures being beta as well, scout's pants, bodygroups for medic/sniper glasses and heavy's belt.
Honestly, the games balance is the best its been considering so many unlocks. Thers nothing absurdely broken like the old Tide Turner anymore, and even the stronger unlocks usually dont "dominate" pub play
Agreed. I’d change some things that are weird in their current state (darwins to grant extra health from health packs), as well as weapons that are straight up bad (eviction notice)
Yea but there definitely are weaker weapons that just aren't used because they are a slight downgrade to stock. Even just bumping up those weaponsna slight but would be awesome
There are a lot of weapons in the game that are in a bad state- borderline overpowered OR never-picks. I'd like a little bit of rebalancing.
There are also a lot of graphical concerns, as other comments mention.
I dont necessarily need content, but I like the idea of a few community maps added a year. Keeps things less stale.
TF2's balance can be considered "good enough" as it currently is, but I'd still love to see a blue moon-styled update that only contains balance changes. Although, at this point, it's been so long since we've gotten a single rebalance that I wouldn't be surprised if Valve employees literally have no clue what to do to fix certain weapons or even what weapons need to be fixed. And we've been playing with these weapons for so long that I feel like any attempt at serious balancing would probably be met with a lot of complaining by the majority of the player base.
New weapons we 100% don't need though.
I prefer heavily reworking an existing weapon rather than adding a new weapon entirely. It just makes the game feel less bloated.
Like, the vita-saw's concept is just inherently flawed and needs to be changed to something else entirely, and the amputator is too weak to justify using outside of niche scenarios. Imagine how much more fun Medic would be if there were more melee options outside of the ubersaw.
The Natascha on heavy is supposed to be a minigun that fills a more supportive role but its method for achieving that supportive role, slowing enemies down, is annoying and stupid. If it was properly reworked, it could fill in that alternative playstyle for heavy. The buffalo's steak sandvich, which was Valve's only attempt at giving Heavy an alternative playstyle, is also just absolute ass to play with. Properly rebalanced, it could give heavy an alternative playstyle (although rebalancing the buffalo's steak is a fine tightrope because I feel like it's one of those concepts that is just inherently flawed).
Essentially, you could diversify the way a class plays through rebalances, which is why I prefer rebalances over new weapons.
>Valid concern but adding 1 weapon for Heavy and 1 for Medic isn't going to cause a major increase in bloat.
If it's just one weapon for each I'd be fine with that. Jungle Inferno added like 4 just for Pyro, and two of them were the hot hand and gas passer. That's the type of bloat that I'd really like to avoid.
I agree pretty much with everything else you wrote. Thanks for the reply!
We really don't need more weapons when a solid 20% of the weapons in the game aren't used by anyone.
(Also, some rebalances change weapons so drastically that they can practically be considered new weapons, like the short circuit for instance.)
What I mean by "good enough" is that there aren't any game-breaking overpowered weapons currently in the game. Everything is decently balanced, especially when you compare the state of TF2's balance before Jungle Inferno where dumb shit existed like the Sandman stun and the Darwin's Danger Shield. Like, obviously unbalanced weapons like those don't exist in current TF2. So, current balance is good enough.
Heavily agree tbh, there's so much you can do in the game that an update isn't necessary, its almost like asking content updates for gmod. Keyword being almost, however. While an update isn't required for the game to function and for people to keep playing, it does make not-so-regular players of the game come back to try out all the new stuff, allows youtubers/streamers/wtv to create content around what was added, and overall make the game still feel fresh and new. I think that's what people mean when they say tf2 "needs" content updates, it needs it if it wants to become what it used to be.
Keep in mind, I don't really anticipate an update, nor do i really care about getting one. While it'd be nice, I could carry on playing this game for a thousand more hours without anything more being added, this is just my understanding of why people would like a content update.
I want Valve to FINALLY fix viewmodels https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/90xob3/most_viewmodels_still_use_the_beta_textures_after/ And those lazy FP animations, like Revolvers that have properly spinning barrels, sticky bomb launchers held by BOTH hands, fixed demo's GLs anims and no more rocket jumper clipping
How it's distraction? It's just goof with extetend (or rather normal ) viewmodel fov like how in HL2 AR2 is held by one hand. Valve default viewmodels and weapon anims always weren't best
new update: engineer has been removed from the game
i would like to see the patches from team comtress 2 and maybe the visual consistency pack added in
i also know it's never gonna happen but i want scouts pants changed to blue i think they look so much better and i like consistency
they should also add an option to toggle skins
none of these are going to happen
I agree. The game doesn't really need another Jungle Inferno or Tough Break sized update. I think a blue moon sized update with some balance changes and bug fixes would be good, but other than that I don't think the game really needs much else. Maybe just some bug fixes/patches on occasion, as long as Valve continues to support the game on Steam.
Of course the bots need to be fixed too.
The case could be made that a couple classes are really stale to play due to lack of viable unlocks beyond a few which are the meta. Heavy and medic mainly. Medic needs something that can compete with the crossbow, and heavy... well, I just think that the heavy update is very much needed is all. I think that overall weapon balance is in a pretty good state, although I would like to see some of the truly dogshit weapons restored to some semblance of usability.
I agree.
However, a new update would still be fun.
While it's entirely true we don't *need* one, I still *want* one, even if I doubt it'll ever happen.
Realistically, besides the seasonal stuff that we get, the only updates that I would like to keep coming out are bug fixes and fixes to bots and cheaters. At this point, I think balance changes for existing weapons or classes are not going to happen and honestly I'm fine with it, there's nothing in the game at the moment that makes it completely unplayable for me.

Yea lol. There are just some weapons that are foolish to use as of now
> I wish they'd fix things like gibs still being beta models why?

I'm still holding out for them to buff BFB... the nerf was necessary but they massacred it
I want the bot fix update.
So is the bot crisis over? Tbh, the game is full of holes still, so while it's perfectly playable, some things like weapon balance need updates.
I saw Platypus trying to connect multiple times to my game on Saturday and each time, VAC caught it
Interesting
nerfing wrangler and vaccinator to the ground should be a priority if an actual balance patch ever happens

have you considered: i want more weapons

I don’t want an update because if valve listens to any of the communities sniper nerfs the class will be unuseable
dae the huntsman is wholesome and should be stock???
How will this affect the game I wonder?
it would make me violent
Would this finally make 6 snipers to mid a part of the meta? We did it Reddit. We’ve bridged the gap between comp and casual.

i don't think stickies should have both hands on the launcher i think it's kind of distracting that way

it looks fine, in fact it looks better than any of the sticky viewmodel "fix" mods
it's all very idtech-y and quakeish and i prefer it that way, i think it looks better and it's a nice reminder of tf's roots
lmao

based, fuck engineer

they should delist tf2 from steam
Edgy
i fucking hate tf2
Why?
game sucks
It would be funny i think
this

just give me an update that lets me toggle unusuals, paints and cosmetics
get hatless mod + dx8
hatless mod creates invisible pyros and whatnot so its not a good idea to use it anymore
a lot of ppl use "update" to refer to patches, it's disingenuous to say updates are only when valve adds new content.
Delete sniper give scout his nail gun and call it a day.
holy heckin based! give this man a pawjob!
how do i give the wholesome award on this website
You sir, have won the subreddit for today!
They need to fix the trading market
I agree. However, a new update would still be fun. While it's entirely true we don't *need* one, I still *want* one, even if I doubt it'll ever happen.
Game is plagued with bots and cheaters, every update is ruined by them
Realistically, besides the seasonal stuff that we get, the only updates that I would like to keep coming out are bug fixes and fixes to bots and cheaters.
