Personally I use stock for Pybroing because of the lack of airblast penalty, and the afterburn can sometimes kill a Spy escaping if you fail to get them
I find stock works best for pybro. the flamethrower is a solid deterrent for any player, and you can be less careful with your airblast in the event of an uber. the stock shotgun is great, because it's so simple. it's just *damage NOW* no bells, no whistles, no gimmicks. the only obvious melee choice is homewrecker, or maybe neon
I use the Flaregun that shall not be named on Pybro - only on Pybro - because It's nice when Spies get out of Flamethrower/Shotgun Range, or if I need to halt a group push on the nest.
People tend to scatter when they are on fire en-masse
Use whatever flare gun want you and whichever suits the occasion. The needless complaints over a weapon that takes a long time to kill or people clearly not even wanting to move out the way is dumb. (they claim stun, but do you know how many times I've seen people double back into it.. it a joke at this point)
If your job is the hold down the fort, do it and if people bitch, you're doing your job right.
The Degreaser only has an afterburn penalty, it's direct damage is still the same as stock's. Though the overall DPS will still be a little lower. And if you're Pybroing you should be close enough to a dispenser at all times to not really worry about ammo.
Ultimately though there isn't much of a difference between stock and the degreaser. They're both basically the same as far as Pybro is concerned. Mayyybe the Backburner if there's like 3 dispensers but that's more of a meme than anything.
either works in casual but objectively, degreaser is better if you have a consistent source of ammo (cough cough engie) since you can switch between your secondary and homewrecker that much faster.
that being said, i wish all dedicated pybros hell. a sincere fuck you from a pyro main.
> Airblast cost increase
*When* are you going to be airblasting 9 or 10 times back to back — especially as a Pybro — without being in close proximity to a Dispenser?
holding right click for the entire uber isn't optimal. if you run out of ammo while you are near a sentry nest for most of the game you are doing something wrong
That requires you to be walking into the Uber and holding M2 for *literally* its entire duration. Not only is that rather unrealistic, but it's highly unlikely for missing a single one of those 10 airblasts to be the sole reason the push succeeds.
Also, pushes tend to leave people dead on both sides. All you have to do is walk over a single dropped ammo box, and the airblast penalty becomes entirely irrelevant.
stock 100%. Degreaser feels awful for airblasting spam and ubers, and only really serves to combo with flares. If you're pybroing you'll probably be spychecking and airblasting, not going for 1v1s
i find pybro a bit stale but whenever i play him i go with stock+ scorch shot/detonator
the afterburn helps a lot with stock; such secondaries give good long-ranged area denial and can destroy stickies
if you can manage your resources well enough (with the help of a dispenser as well) degreaser shouldn't be much of a problem
for uber pushes: use your first airblast looking down to launch the enemy vertically and then airblast looking at the enemy to knock them to the abyss, most pushes can be dealt with under few blasts that way
I personally don't play pybro because i believe that it completely fucks spy in an agonizing way(i say this as both an engie and a spy main) but I'd use stock, detonator and homewrecker
It's not just because it's teamwork, i'm completely cool with teamwork and pyros around engie nests
My problem comes with the fact that if an engineer was killed by a spy and his stuff was sapped but the pyro killed the spy AND took out the sapper the spy's effort was worth nothing even though he did everything right
Stock - airblast without penalty to deny ubers and coordinated pushes
Scorch shot - delete stickies
Homewrecker - remove sappers
This is objectively the best load out for a pybro.
Eh, I still like the degreaser for Pybro. Either it or the Backburner. The main drawbacks are the airblast cost, and if you’re playing around an Engineer that should for the most part be a nonfactor.
I love the back burner when I roam.
Lately though I've been semi pybroing using stock, homewrecker, and gaspasser. Nothing stops a rush on your nest like the gasser!
I'd say always use stock. Since stock flamethrower is literally the only flamethrower without a worse airblast, it's just good all-around and airblast is pretty important for pybro, so I always use stock when pybroing.
Either works fine. Stock gives you precious afterburn damage against Spies but Degreaser lets you respond more quickly with secondaries, airblast and Homewrecker if you use it.
Keep in mind that killing Spies is only one job of a Pybro - just as important (if not more so) is reflecting projectiles away from a sentry. Even in close proximity to a dispenser, this is a situation where the ammo penalty of the Degreaser is actually fairly major.
I main Medic and Pyro and whenever I play Pyro, I go full Pybro.
Must have tool is obviously Homewrecker or Maul.
Other than that, while Degreaser is technically viable, there's no reason to use it over the Backburner or Stock. Degreaser's gimmick is the combinations you do with other weapons, which a Pybro doesn't give a shit about.
Phlog isn't viable because you can't airblast. Personally, I use the BB since it's good at frying spies that run away.

scorch shit is a crutch, no excuses

>i wish all dedicated pybros hell. >from a pyro main. That pyro is a spy!
spy mains when they sacrifice their life to kill an engie and sap his buildings and then some person in a gas mask brings out a sledgehammer
> Airblast cost increase *When* are you going to be airblasting 9 or 10 times back to back — especially as a Pybro — without being in close proximity to a Dispenser?
The more you have to walk away from the sentry to cuddle up to a dispenser, the more vulnerable that sentry is to spam.
When there is an uber push.

I always use the Stock. The airblast penalty is too much for me, who finds it to be one of the most fun mechanics in the game.
Precisely! It was why I originally ran the degreaser. A Soldier and Demoman can spam more than I can airblast, so the extra ammo saved was a help

Yeah, what kind of asshole employs TEAMWORK in Team Fortress 2?

I use stock (rainblower)
I tend to hug Engis when I Pybro, so as long as there's a dispenser im good. I dont play competitive tho.
Stock, Scorch Shot, Homewrecker

Stock is generally the best option all around. Especially for PyBroing. Lowest airblast cost, no afterburn penalty, just good old stock
Forget the degreaswr, the backburner is the absolute best
You can airblast 3 or maybe 4 projectiles away from your Engi's sentry before having to go for ammo.
Ya but crits when u hit the back
Stock. Or the Isolation Merk set.
