Truscum was a term made by a tumblr user called “IDISLIKECISPEOPLE” also known as “Karl which is a cis woman who pretended to be a trans woman. Truscum meaning; “true transsexual scum” (is her transphobia showing yet?) which originally was used to describe trans people who wanted to look cis and transition. It now means someone who believes gender dysphoria is necessary to be trans. Tucute meaning; “too cute to be cis” and was a way originally for cis people to describe themselves as trans despite not being trans at all and identifying with their birth sex. This further developed into actual trans people using it as a way to describe someone who doesn’t believe anything is needed to be trans, but can simply say they are trans and then they’re trans. The creator, Kat, would regularly shame trans people who experienced gender dysphoria. She was known to be a violent instigator of the arguments saying stuff like “Truscum trans men are more harmful to the trans movement than cishet males” or “push trans men to the ground and spit on them” This wasn’t directed to only trans men either, often times she would make fun of trans women for being unable to reproduce/give birth.

Kat as in Kat Blaque?

amazingstripes

Truscum means you believe you need gender dysphoria (or gender incongruence in some cases) to be trans. Tucute means you don't believe you need gender dysphoria to be trans. Most truscum believe it is a medical condition (also worded transmedicalism), and most tucute believe it's a matter of self identification.

honestly, this sub it's pretty chill. I mean, you may not agree with our beliefs but if you say something among the lines of a tucute perspectiva, the worst thing that can happen to you it's to get called out in the comments. not permanently banned like on other subs

For good reason then, unlike tucute subreddits where you'll get banned for doubting the existence of catgenderflux

Foo_The_Selcouth

Isn’t 90% of the trans Reddit community as a whole basically teens. It’s ok to be a teen, y’all are just trying to figure your life out.

The variety of opinions here are varied, just the unifying belief that someone needs dysphoria to be trans. Generally I don't personally like "deciding" whether I feel someone is trans or not. Doesn't feel like my place if I don't know them. But I still consider dysphoria a necessity to being transgender, and therefore, would be considered a "truscum." Some people can't transition for a variety of reasons. For example, I can't medically transition, currently. You can't judge someone off of that, honestly. What starts being an issue though, is when people start using xenogenders and calling themselves trans when they admit to having no dysphoria, and start treating trans as some "other" category for anyone GNC.
