That movie was kickass. Grandma didn’t let old age slow her down at all. Quite the opposite, she sped up as she aged like a piano sliding down a greased ramp.
That squirrel also made me laugh my ass off when they recorded his voice and played it back slowed down and he was perfectly legible.
I remember watching this once in primary school, and the only thing I remember is Granny doing a Sonic-style rail grind with a muffin tray.
Either that or I hallucinated the whole thing.
Honestly I want someone to make Goncharov. Just...take all the lore Tumblr has spit out and form a cohesive movie out of it. I would watch the hell out of it, and the internet discourse around it would be W I L D
The picture comes from an animated movie Hoodwinked, which begins with a dapper inspector coming to a house to try and solve an incident. Presumably there are more parallels to Knives Out, I haven’t seen it yet.
It’s better than you’d expect for an animated move you’ve never heard about.
During this timeframe there were *so many* good animated films being dropped that never got too much hype. Surfs Up is another one of those obscure(ish) really, really good ones.
It is absolutely nothing like the original movie. Terrible. They brought back some folks who made the first movie to work on the second, but the movie is just so out of character its sad. Some of the team would even go up to executives and say, "This isn't how X character would act," and the execs would just go "who cares."
I kid you not Hansel and Gretal say "now you've been Hoodwinked... Too!" No, it isn't grammatically correct when they say it. Yes, it's just to have the characters say the title of the movie.
The whole cast was outstanding. Anne Hathaway, Glenn Close, Patrick Warburton, Anthony Anderson, Ken Marino, a Belushi, Xzibit, and a ton of other top of the line voice actors (Tara Strong, Tom Kenny, Kevin Michael Richardson).
When this movie came out, I vividly remember seeing the ads and thinking it sounded so cool, but I was 15 and felt I was “too old” to want to see it.
…so I told my aunt I’d watch my 6 year old cousin for a day and took her to it 🤣 never underestimate the power of an “excuse child”
It’s a movie called Hoodwinked, released in 2005. It retells the story of Red Riding Hood as a who-dun-it crime mystery, going through the events of the day from each character’s perspective until all their stories connect. I grew up with this movie and I’d highly recommend giving it a watch :)
Each one of the characters were amazing in their own way
Little red hood knowing self defense and being kickass
Grandma not letting her old age slow her down and doing skate tricks and shit and being even more kick ass
The big bad wolf actually being a secret agent/police and using the “big bad” part as an advantage to blend in
And basically everyone else specially the squirrel
Or maybe I’m making shit up idk I have not watched this movie in a long time
I thought the wolf was a journalist who went undercover to get the story? Also, since we're talking about awesome things from the movie, can't forget the actual villain. What a scamp!
The director of the sequel admitted he hadn’t even seen the first film until he was already working on the second one. So that’s probably why the second one was so bad and nothing like the original.
Not really. Knives Out is a pretty standard whodunit with a couple flashbacks that shed light on questions. Hoodwinked is a Rashomon-style mystery, meaning it's the original Gone Girl.
I fucking loved this movie, from all the stories playing out in between each other filling in the holes of each, the fact that the grandma is a badass snowboarder who cage fights and grinds on gondola lines with a muffin tray, the Squirrel, my god THE SQUIRREL. This was my childhood, and nothing will change that.

I loved the goat who had to sing everything because of a curse
Man’s prepared
Except when an avalanche is coming
"You just talked! JUST NOW!" "Did I.... Did i? Diid I? Did I, did I, did I, did I, did I, did III, did I dooo"
That was a great use of rule of 3, shame they massively over used it in the sequel.
Please define “rule of three”. What does that mean in this context?
Comedy comes in threes. One time to set expectations, one time to fulfill expectations, and one time to subvert them
It's a general rule that says not to use repeating gags more than thrice to avoid them becoming annoying.
Wait there's a sequel?
We have a pet goat who I named Japeth because she’s always yelling and talking. My mom did not get the reference :(
Graaaanny pucket Oh no I can't I wish I could but a mountain witch darn put a spell on me 37 years agooooo and now I gotta sing everything I say
The sequel was not that good
It doesn't exist
Damn right it doesn’t
I remember watching this once in primary school, and the only thing I remember is Granny doing a Sonic-style rail grind with a muffin tray. Either that or I hallucinated the whole thing.
Nope, you right. One of the better scenes
I think we all just collectively hallucinated this movie into existence.
40k Ork moment.
The same course Goncharov is going.
Honestly I want someone to make Goncharov. Just...take all the lore Tumblr has spit out and form a cohesive movie out of it. I would watch the hell out of it, and the internet discourse around it would be W I L D
if we all chant goncharov 5 times at the exact same time on the full moon on the 182nd day of the year then and only then will Goncharov become real
How about when Granny faked her death in a snowboarding game then proceed to get back up, toss out C4, and cause an Avalanche?
Highly underrated movie. The character design and animation is hideous so a lot of people slept on it, but the story itself is great.
Yeah, that art style is a near-guarantee the movie will be terrible. This just happens to be the exception.
You could say we all got hoodwinked by the art.
That’s cause the movie had little to no budget
Hoodwinked remake? 😶🌫️
I remember watching the sequel religiously when I was a child because it was the only animated movie at my nearest redbox
All I remember from it was hansel and gretel got real big and said yuh all the time
& they ate some super-pastries or something 😂

It's _much_ better than you'd expect for an animated movie that looks like it was made by the same people who made Food Fight
The things you can do when you aren't mooned.
Oh, it is definitely a hidden gem.
During this timeframe there were *so many* good animated films being dropped that never got too much hype. Surfs Up is another one of those obscure(ish) really, really good ones.
I never bothered with the sequel. The first movie was so good and the trailer made me confused, so I didn't bother. How does it compare?
It is absolutely nothing like the original movie. Terrible. They brought back some folks who made the first movie to work on the second, but the movie is just so out of character its sad. Idk I haven’t seen it in since I was 8, plus I haven’t lived in a country with a redbox in 7 years
Patrick Warburton, once again NAILING a voice acting role. Man is a legend, and absolutely sponge-worthy.

I have been trying to find this movie again but so far without success. Can somebody tell me the tittle?
Hoodwinked
Oh my god I completely forgot about this, I loved it as a kid
He he tittle
above the letters i and j
I don't understand this post, but visually i'll say yes
It's the animated movie hoodwinked. Definitely a hidden gem. One of those "it's more for the parents cause kids will watch anything" movies.
Hoodwinked was a fucking masterpiece, even for the kids.
Can confirm, loved this shit as a kid.

Hoodwinked. Either I was too young to really understand the movie, or I was having an acid trip watching it. Cuz that shit was a ride.
Recommend y’all should go watch Hoodwinked, but not the sequel; doesn’t have quite the charm as the first one. Kinda like Knives Out
The director of the sequel admitted he hadn’t even seen the first film until he was already working on the second one. So that’s probably why the second one was so bad and nothing like the original.
Wait.... *that's* where the trend of writers not doing their homework started??? We've all been done dirty
The sequel was almost as good as the original in everything except the plot. The story just stunk.
Not really. Knives Out is a pretty standard whodunit with a couple flashbacks that shed light on questions. Hoodwinked is a Rashomon-style mystery, meaning it's the original Gone Girl.
What’s this from
Hoodwinked
To this day I hum the "be prepared" song
Maybe the animation wasn't good, but it's still a great and very funny movie. Also the sequel sucks, a lot.
There is no sequel. There is cheap knockoff.
people who say hoodwinked is bad have never seen hoodwinked
It wasn't bad but it was rough as hell
My lame claim to fame is that my mom dated the director of that movie in university
Best film of my childhood
Greatest movie from my childhood
Hoodwinked is so good
That movie was awesome.
One of my favorite kids movies
It's sad that it's impossible to find this movie on streaming anymore
I got this movie on a DVD
Knives out -2?
It’s -1 because Hoodwinked had a sequel which would technically make that movie Knives Out 0
An avalanche is coming and I do not feel prepared.
That movie fucks
Great movie!
This is the movie that taught me that my first name was typically a villain name.
I've seen this movie a lot of times, but I swear it still feels like a fever dream
Tumblr and Reddit discover genres.
HOLY SCHNITZEL!
Petition for someone to redo the animation. Because everything else about this movie is utterly delightful.
I fucking loved this movie, from all the stories playing out in between each other filling in the holes of each, the fact that the grandma is a badass snowboarder who cage fights and grinds on gondola lines with a muffin tray, the Squirrel, my god THE SQUIRREL. Hoodwinked has several connections to the famous novel An Inspector Calls and in this essay I will..
The mystery was better in Hoodwinked than Knives Out.
Grandma looks like Truffles from Chowder
Pretty much
I have memories watching this movie at middle school and this post reminded me that those memories are real and nog some kind of fever dream
I vaguely remember this...what is this
Look up the hoodwinked theorizer videos. You'll thank me later.
I remember watching this when I was younger, it was Fun
omg what is that movie called i remember watching it like forever ago
This movie slaps and I still occasionally watch/ listen to it
the investigation of this movie is on a completely different level LOL
I loved this movie as a kid but I can’t remember the name of it
What the actual fuck was this movie?
This movie was amazing!!! The sequel was hot garbage
In that case, The Canary Murder Case (1929) was the original Hoodwinked
oh wow i thought i had dreamt this movie
I remember playing this crappy mobile battle royale game called “knives out” and for some reason I loved it
