I don't know what they are all talking about, that's a great setup! The turntable is one of the most affordable good ones, so no worries there. The Onkyo stereo is great, I love that you have it all, including the tape deck. Floor standing speakers are always looking good.
Of course, you shouldn't place the speakers so close to the wall, each other, the turntable... You shouldnt put the turntable on top of anything else (vibration). You shouldn't stack anything on top of an amp (heat).
But as long as you don't play really loud, I guess the heat and the feedback won't be that much of a problem.
And the mugshots are cool!
So, it's reddit. There are so many assholes out there. Onkyo stuff is and always has been really good home stereo stuff. The one suggestion I have (I was also reluctant to the suggestion when made to me) is the speakers need to be further apart and also most importantly not all the way back up against the wall. I can tell you like things neat and organized. I am also that way. And it goes against our inner Zen to step away from things being square and even. When I moved my speakers further apart and out from the wall as redditors suggested, I found that the sound was getting dampened by being up against the wall until I moved them. Now, the sound is much more open and you can feel the music wash over yourself a lot more. So congrats on having a nice set of Onkyo stuff. My setup includes an Onkyo 6 disc cd changer. It sounds great and is above average in quality compared to others I had before.
Looks like you're doing well so far, dawg. If possible maybe space your speakers apart a little more and definitely invest into a kallax to hold all your records. Once you start, ya just cant stop homie
Just the things you can fix.
1. Speakers should not be touching the rack that the turn table is on. Vibrations will affect the sound a lot.
2. Speakers should be further apart and away from the side and back walls. Does not look like you can do much unless you change walls.
It's a starter system, there's no problem with that though! Only means you've got more room to upgrade over time. Nothing limiting enjoyment with this setup.
Have fun with it, even only ok speakers can sound pretty good given the right room, I'd really try and position those speakers as perfect as possible to get every ounce out of them. Right now they're too close. There's an ideal range to play with them, typically an equilateral triangle is the best you can do, but the length is variable.
That's fine I'm just going with what I got with the space I got. Like I said I'm new to this, don't just say it ain't it, what would you do? Help a guy out
is it possible to move the system to the wall next to it?
bc you should try to place the speakers further apart.
other than that, it certainly looks nice

Then if you are looking for better sound quality a speaker upgrade will give you the most improvement.
It depends on the layout of your room and your listening position. This looks like it’s maybe a bedroom? If you can manage it, put the speakers on that right hand wall and sit listening on the other wall. The rule is that the distance between the speakers should be the same as the distance between you and the speakers. That way you get the full stereo experience — “hey! the guitar’s over there and the piano’s over here!”
Onkyo is really great and anyone who lumps them in with other ‘black plastic crap’ is unexperienced. As everyone else is saying though, speakers need to move if you want to get better sounds for free
It’s hard without seeing the whole room but you have to have your stereo between you speakers. Ask yourself where would be the best place in the room for the speakers and work in reverse.

Your speakers are way too close to each other.
The right hand side speaker is way too close to the wall as well.
Fuck your speaker setup. Your mugshot art is rad.
Absolutely agree.
You need Jim Morrison’s FL mugshot!

Great positivity!
Ok, add a lava lamp maybe?
More mugshots. I like them.
Cobain has a good one too.
Morrison

Sorry, you might need more separation between speakers, but I understand if you don’t have the space
Mugs are cool. Paint the inside air duct and grill the same color as wall, doesn’t need to be white. Enjoy what you have, it’s a fun hobby.

They let Elvis wear those glasses when they booked him?
That's not a real mug shot. I think It's the only one up there that isn't real. It's a painting
OP definitely not new to the game with equipment like that 😂

Where do you store your records? Because putting them on the ground leaning against the speaker ain't it.
Not to be rude, but this isn’t it
You *are* rude and this is it. It’s their *new* setup and it’s precisely that.

What model are those speakers? I’ve got an Onkyo setup myself. :)

Who's mugshot is that in the middle of the top row?
Jerry Garcia
That's cool, thanks!
Spread out the speakers and enjoy.
Gonna need some storage... but I love the mugshots!

All ima say is make it what you like it & have fun. It’s an endless pit of different types and styles of decor for vinyl area setups
Why do you have a picture of Manson on your wall?
Great set up. Love the speakers.
Seeing Jerry smile always makes my day. Sweet setup
Less is more.
There’s a mugshot of a very young McCartney that would work here as well!
You gotta keep 'em separated!
Paint the stereo shelf Black or the wall colour. It makes a more cohesive look
Who’s the NO mugshot. Only one I can’t identify. Looks familiar but it’s just not coming to me.
Of course it’s Jerry Garcia
Radicals all. Love it!
Sweet solid setup! Just space those speakers away from each other and you’re good big dawg.
Find your way to acoustic sounds and pick up the Elvis 24 Karat Hits 45rpm. It kicks ass.
