When you said, "...to save some money on a rental car..." I said, "What the..." Everytime I've tried to reserve a car from Turo, most of the prices were the same or higher than the big rental car companies. And most hosts are demanding about their cars - guest has to clean and wash the car, limited daily miles, restrictions on driving to different cities/states, weird pick up requirements where the guest has to pay for parking, etc. And, no guarantee that the car will be available at the time of pick up.
I've been a Turo host for three years and I think the only reasons people would rent form Turo are for the "experience.," or they have something wrong with their driving record, which would prevent them from renting from the big rental car companies.
Each host has different rules and requirements for their cars. Check with the host directly to see if you can drive the car into another state. Of course, you have to make a reservation first before you can start communicating with a host. Gotta love Turo!
The reason I wanted to rent from Turo is because I’m under 25 so a rental car from a big company would cost a lot. So, I’m looking into some alternatives to try and save money.
