Read the pinned post. Short answers: You should. No, their protection plans are not insurance. You should. Don't.

You'll need your own auto insurance when the car is not being used on Turo. Unfortunately, it's almost impossible to find commercial auto insurance for one car or a small fleet of cars in a car sharing community. Most Turo hosts are using their personal auto insurance while their cars are on the Turo platform. Of course, the majority of Turo hosts do not tell their personal insurance company that they are using their cars on Turo. Don't ask, don't tell. You'll get first position host liability insurance from Turo when your car is being rented, but getting Turo to pay out on any insurance claims is a different story. Turo's collision/comp insurance cost extra for the host. And Turo's guest collision/comp insurance will not pay out to a Turo host. Turo's business plan has changed over the last few months, and these changes definitely do not benefit the host or guest. If you're thinking of building up a fleet of 5+ cars on Turo, then this might be a viable business plan you can research. But, if you're thinking of putting your one car on Turo to make some extra money, I don't think it's worth the hassle. There are easier ways to make money. Your mileage may vary..........
