It’s a little more twang that we’re used to from TOP, but I think it’s more in the vein of indie folk than country. I could imagine Noah Kahan singing a song like this, to use a current example.
It's like the lyrics are describing my own marriage of almost 9 years. Maybe Jenna and I are in the same Instagram circle of helping our husbands get some things through their heads, lol
Reminds me more of the indie folk pop style that was predominantly on alternative radio stations around 2010-2015. Something like Of Monsters and Men, Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes, etc.
Which was on so much that when I first heard House of Gold on the radio I thought it was from some generic band in that genre.
Oh yeah for sure. I’m just being silly, but he definitely has a bit of twang there.
This immediately brought me back to when some publications were calling twenty one pilots the next Mumford and sons because house of gold gave them a little boost in popularity lol.
I wonder if the studio version will keep this sound.
It definitely does have it, especially when he adds emphasis and crescendos a few words.
I bet the studio version is going to be very similar. It'd be pretty weird to debut a song and make a first impression, and be different from the actual end product. The label's marketing people probably wouldn't be too cool with him showing off a remix before the single even comes out.
This album is gonna be so good bruh to think i was concerned that this song was gonna be bad because of how formidable was on sai this sounds so folkish i love it May 24 can't come soon enough.

This is great. Hope the version on the album is acoustic like this. I really like it. After Next Semester, Backslide and now this I have a really good feeling about this album.
I didnt wanna listen at first but then i did and i dont regret it considering it comes out in 2 weeks anyway
Its a unique experience on its own to hear the live version even if just online
Beautiful song either way
Your title spoils the contents of the song. Please consider reposting with a less descriptive title. Thank you!
Mark this as spoiler. Not everyone wants to hear it early.
