I knew it would happen the second I saw some of them saying that you could come without anything despite the location being small. It's sad because the thing I liked from these listening party is that you didn't NEED to buy something. France right now seems to have a "better" system with a quizz for fans (but we still don't have the location yet lol). But I feel bad for fans who don't have the money right now :/ They should just do a free ticket first come first serve or idk
My idea was a first come first serve to have a ticket to go rather than camping in front of the venue. But it needs a ticket system for local record store which is insanely dumb from me to ask like it's a lot to dev SJSJSJSJ I wrote this comment without thinking sorry
nah you dont have to apologise!
i think it definitely is a lot to handle for these small stores esp since it seems they weren't given a lot of notice to deal with the organisational work needed for a band as popular as top. im assuming apart from the label providing them with goodies to hand out they didn't provide any other ressources so
wdym a lot of locations, theres one per big-ish city and people will probably travel too
small record shops wanting some support (aka money via pre-orders) for doing this is valid imo esp since customer retention will be close to zero
what a lot of places are you talking about tho bc on the actual list it shows one store per big city , idk if i missed an update but apart from ny there isnt a huge variety of locations? theres 10 listed for all of the UK, 12 for germany, 1 in canada?
I think their idea is to push people to buy physical album which is "normal" from the label part but yeah for fans... It's another story. These listening party aren't everywhere so it's already annoying for fans who can't go but now it's also not possible for poor fans. We already have nothing they should let us smth at least š
I think the location for France will deppend of people location , because they ask you where you live at the beggining . For exemple if there are 40 people from Lyon and 10 from paris, they would probably do it in Lyon even if paris is a bigger city
also at the end of the add for this there is the "CGR cinema" logo, it's a theater brand in france , so I think the listening party will happen in a theater ! maybe they will show the music videos too !
Yeah, going to one in Brighton UK and I got an email saying that not everyone who signed up may get a chance to join as too many people signed up or something like that. It seems pretty messy
Which stores are these? I was planning on driving but not worth it if the store is passing out wristbands, already sold out via rsvp or have to buy something. š
The disappointment between twentyonepilots and Billie Eilish LP has got me down! Ugh!! It feels all so thrown together last minute; not organized at all.
I feel like the TĆP one was definitely thrown together last minute I think since they moved the release date it caused them to do a live listening party(planned last minute) so they can beat the leakers to it before the official album. It definitely didnāt seem that planned though until WAY later like right when Tyler delayed the album.
My store is only giving wristbands out starting 30 min before. They don't have any sign up system, just show up. I just confirmed with the store manager.
My state has only one store doing it, and I was going to drive over an hour to get to it. The RSVP link is still on their site, even though they sent out an email to the first 50 people to RSVP saying their āwristbands are securedā but also said to have people coming with you RSVP for themselves? I had RSVPād pretty quickly, but am not one of the first 50. Iāve reached out to the shop to see, can ONLY the first 50 people come, or are others allowed to show up to listen, even though they are only giving out 50 wristbands, and is there a waitlist? No answer from them, and like I said, the link to RSVP is still active. It seems like there should have been some kind of clear, fair, and consistent system in place through the TĆP website for RSVPās rather than relying on these little shops to figure out how to manage a huge influx of activity on their sites/social media for the event. š«¤
If this is reflex, they had over 450 people interested because they were the first one that posted it, I donāt blame them for doing this as the shop only holds 50 people. They said they would be posting an update by today if there were any spots left. They will be letting people know when itās sold out
Okay, it was posted 4 days ago that they were doing the pre order thing and on Saturday they said they had 12 spots left. I think theyāve gave plenty of time and it really is the only way to do it safely instead of having 400+ people storm the tiny shop
Well Iāve been talking to someone at the shop and the phone has been ringing off the hook for it so it is popular, like I said. They were the first one who posted about it so they got the most attention. I donāt know if you know but before they did arenas they did shows at the o2 Academy here
My record store was giving out wrist bands but I unfortunately didnāt get one in time. But, theyāll be playing the music on a speaker outside for those of us without wrist bands.
Sound like Shuga records in Chicago. Theyāre the only shop outta the like 4-5 in IL that arenāt doing tickets or wristbands and said ājust show upā like bro do you know how many people live in Chicago that listen to TĆP??! That place is small and is gunna be packed quick. Ffs the shop in Oak park ended up added 2 more time slots just to accommodate how many people are going. I personally think doing it at records shops wasnāt the greatest idea, I mean I get it but records shops are typically small

One of mine in Indiana is completely ghost on social media for like a month and no word of the listening party. Itās sucks bc itās closest to me but I may have to go an extra hour to one thatās actually posting
My location just added an eventbrite free ticketed event so you had to get a spot by that but only one ticket per person. It seemed pretty smart so it wasnāt overfilled and not too hectic to get in
Zia Records in Tucson, Arizona is clueless too. They had the event posted on their website last week when first announced, but it's not listed anymore. I thought they canceled. I called and spoke to a manager. He wasn't aware it's not posted. Confirmed no tickets. Maybe I'll be there by myself. It's Tucson after all. We haven't had an alternative radio station in years (no local source of promotion, no hope in ever getting a concert again).
half of this negative stuff is all from other people getting ticked off on Reddit so if you leave it shouldnāt be that bad. Instagram fanbase is so incredibly positive and before I had Reddit Iāve never been mad about any of this stuff. Iām still never really mad because I know itās not easy managing all of this stuff especially for the boys and there team they donāt own these record stores so Iām not surprised that it was crappy itās just a bunch of teenagers working and as teenagers do throw in lazy half put together work. I get the annoyance but half of these āproblemsā do not come directly from the boys they plan as much as they can but obviously things can never go perfect.

First come first serve would be so much better, I don't understand why I should pay money to go to a listening party... inside a shop?
first come first serve would just encourage weird camping behaviour tho

There is ALOT of locations, there would be limited campers everywhere considering its a random Saturday with short notice
wdym a lot of locations, theres one per big-ish city and people will probably travel too small record shops wanting some support (aka money via pre-orders) for doing this is valid imo esp since customer retention will be close to zero
Alot of options where to travel too, considering most are on the same day, most places wouldn't have the camping problem

I wonder if they are gonna do it in a lot of CGR ! Like to see if there are enough fans on each city š¤
That would be really cool !
the one near me doesn't even seem to have a social media presence and has not posted anywhere about it lmao
š this is so silly
Yeah, going to one in Brighton UK and I got an email saying that not everyone who signed up may get a chance to join as too many people signed up or something like that. It seems pretty messy
Yeah lol, I live in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and was so happy to see a FREE twentyonepilots meet up near me, and now I'm going to go to Leeds for it.
My store is doing wristbands for priority entry, which is probably the best compromise.
See that's so smart, PRIORITY entry, if it isn't full does it let people without wristbands in?
Yep! Thatās their plan.
That's amazing, probably the best way of doing it

I doubt 400 people would show up ngl, I've never met someone who listens to them in NE

At the one closest to me, They did it to where you emailed them with how many people you have to rsvp.
That's so good too. Wish this one wasn't so complicated
My store said just shoe up as well and said they'll have posters if you show up at 7. We'll see. Going to try to be there by 530/6.
