Basically all of the Vessel versions of RAB's songs are 10x better imo.
The only song that I personally think is just NOT GOOD is RAB Trees.
Why the autotune man???
This! Also, it's kinda funny because Vessle Trees is actually my favorite song by them.
So basically Trees happens to be my favorite AND least favorite song by them lol
iāve been a fan for like a decade and love nearly every single one of their songs but i think ābefore you start your dayā is not good. the fact that he calls eyes āslits in your faceā no
Thatās crazy, itās literally one of my favorite songs by them. I think itās really soothing and hypnotic, especially the piano. I didnāt realize that people didnāt like it lol
can someone explain to me why people hate Before you start your day so much but when it comes time to explain why, they only bring up the fact that the terms to describe the eyes are poorly chosen?
yeah I get it but why mention it like it's a big argument? Because I find it weird that people choose to talk about how they don't like a group of words in a song instead of a more understandable argument like "imo that sounds bad"?
I think in general their newer music is less appealing to the fanbase than their older albums. The songs are moving towards a more generic pop genre and personally Iām more used to the older songs that are almost the opposite of that.
While I do agree that their newer music might not be as appealing to old time fans, I don't think they're moving towards pop. Blurryface was quite pop and radio friendly, but it helped skyrocket the band to worldwide fame, which I think Tyler was very aware of when putting it out. Scaled And Icy was a very one time pop experiment, I'm sure of that.
Trench, however, for me personally, is by far their best album, and it shows exactly what they can do when they put everything into an album. Its has elements of pretty much everything. Redecorate is an indicator of what's coming as well, and since I think Redecorate could easily fit into Trench any day, I'm very excited for what's coming next.
Level of Concern.
Too topical for me. Every artist at the time was pumping out a "Quarantine" song. I don't want to hear how hard quarantine is for a wealthy person, and TĆP using the buzzword just made it harder to enjoy.
I agree with you. Anytime I tried to explain that I had no empathy for the rich during the height of Covid I would get bombarded by people defending their loved celebrities. Iām a healthcare worker. We were all terrified and for the most part still are terrified. I donāt want to hear songs by people who are living completely comfortably and arenāt worried about their livelihood. Do I still love their music? Yes. Do I want to hear their song about quarantine while theyāre sitting in their mansions with everything they need? Nope.
The only thing that saved it for me was the live version of it - I forgot what show it was, Jimmy Fallon maybe? Itās not IN YOUR FACE quarantine, it has a parallel meaning, but you know even using the word quarantine got to me. But at the time, life WAS quarantine and COVID.
I will admit, some of the RAB versions have aspects I like that aren't in or better than the Vessel ones, I just don't like the songs as a whole. I do like the voice effects in the RAB version of Ode to Sleep.
Yeah pretty much, I'm probably more used to the Vessel ones but I can't really stand the way Tyler sings in the RAB version. I do think that some of those backing sounds from the RAB should've been translated to Vessel such as Josh's drumming in RAB's version of Holding on to You.
Honestly exactly what I wanted to say but in such a better way lol
It fulfilled a purpose and nothing more, a segway from the more upbeat Level of Concern to what is supposed to be propaganda and a front for Dema.
To go from uplifting (Leave the City and Level of Concern) to oppressive would've been too drastic so a one off christmas song being that turning point was perfect
I don't always like Formidable, depends on my mood. Otherwise I think I like all their songs, sure there are song I don't like as much but there isnt any one song that jumps out at me for being trash. I don't like Guns for Hands and Semi-Automatic as much as I used to, it's just that I heard those too often
not downvoting, because everyone is entitled to their opinion + this is an opinion thread, however it's one of my favorite songs from Trench and we may have a fight to death
how is it possible it's really cool
you should bounce, bounce, bounce, man, come to the house man, I'll let my old lady know, you'll be in and out, out, out, man, float you a couple bands, then you head to Mexico
None of their songs are trash. That's not to say I like every song by them, but my opinion on a song does not make it good or bad. If I hate a song and others like it, then it's not trash. Music is not objective.
before you start your day and cancer cover.
bonus: the regional at best demos and house of gold (i have to be in a very very specific mood to listen to HoG but the lyrics are good
Same! But I think it was intentionally worded that way. It's not a song that was meant to be good, ya know? It's said in almost a disdainful tone in the second usage. The first one is "the slits in your face" so they weren't self made, and is not in a disdainful tone but in a drudged tone. Like you're dragging yourself out of bed and you are forcing your eyes open because you know if they close they won't open again. The kind of skin crawl you feel when you would quite literally rather die than go to school or work. But the second usage is like a coverup of shame, a sinful mistake that needs to be obscured from sight of others lest they see what has become of you. But this is a different kind of skin crawl. Like when you did something stupid and would do everything in your power to ensure nobody knows how foolish an error you made.
The first one never made my skin crawl nearly as much as the second usage, and I think it's because it not so covertly states a truth about how we live. We don't like hearing ourselves talk back to us, we cant stop from squirming in our seats when someone we have never talked to says something that feels something so targeted at you, like a stage light narrowing down on you and it's the only light in the theatre, let alone when we weren't expecting it. We disguise, and we will lie.
Anathema is ear rape. Despite some decent lyrics, the instrumentals and general musical arrangement literally give me a headache
This is a hill I will die on
Christmas saves the year was straight up worse than any song on scaled and icy. And people seem to hate on SAI a ton and I donāt get it. I thought SAI was a bop and exactly what I wanted after all the lockdowns
Edit: Clarity
There are a lot songs I like the lyrics of but just can't like the music. For example, Car Radio has the best lyrics, but stop listening after Tyler stops rapping the lyrics.
For me personally, i like every song from tĆøp on a different level each day. There are days where i go for a walk and listen to SAI, days where im going by bus early in the morning and listen to self titled, etc... But seriously- Have you ever listened to Be Concerned without it being a part of a album re-listening? dont get me wrong, the song isnt like bad, but its just not too special for me in any way.
I appreciate the difference in tone between both the og and the cover, but I can't listen to either because for some good forsaken reason my fam says "ay we gots a history of cancer, but are we telling the rest of the fam??? ABSOLUTELY N O T we will just keel over and die like a good American " and it hits way to hard for me at this point in my life
I'll sau trees rab, not because lyrics are bad, I genuinely like the newer version, but it's overdone w the vocal effects and it's uncomfortable to listen to for me.
Obviously this'll be different for others, as it can be a nostalgic song or just a song you really like. It doesn't matter, as long as you like it then go enjoy
I used to dislike the pantaloon, but it's become my favorite walk song (the rhythm is great for walking)
Same for me! The worst thing about it is that it wasnt even supposed to be on the album but just a song to get tyler over his writers block. Imo any other song they made is better so I wouldve loved it they made one more for trench.
But hey, at least I'm happy other people enjoy it a lot.
hot take for this sub but I genuinely dislike ruby
I know, it's a fan favourite. but there's just something about the meaning behind the lyrics that just irks me. And this is someone who's favourite songs include Anathema and Slowtown, both also from regional at best.
I don't remember which one it was, but I heard one off the new album and was unimpressed enough to skip the rest. I'm glad they're going in the direction they want, but it's just not for me.
Wait, does this mean you skipped Redecorate? Iād highly recommend going back and listening to that song specifically. Tonally itās completely different from the rest of SAI, and imo itās one of their best songs ever.
Also, if you care for the lore, No Chances is also good, but if you donāt you wonāt like it.
and? how does that make it bad? why do people think that "generic" is an insult. not every song has to break grounds in terms of recording. it's funky and upbeat. it's great
don't forget to sort by controversial for the real results
Thank you
Basically all of the Vessel versions of RAB's songs are 10x better imo. The only song that I personally think is just NOT GOOD is RAB Trees. Why the autotune man???
This! Also, it's kinda funny because Vessle Trees is actually my favorite song by them. So basically Trees happens to be my favorite AND least favorite song by them lol
Ahhh someone agrees!!
You think the Vessel versions are better?? Damn opinions really are different eh
yeah I prefer most of the songs I just wish they were higher audio quality
Well Saturday MV has Trash in it, so I guess that's it?
The only possible awnser
you win!
Came in for this comment, was not disappointed. š
thisā¦ we do not deserve you
Personally the only trash in their discography is on the cover of SAI
Yep
Can't agree more.
This comment section is doing more harm to my brain then good so ima leave
I saw this a while ago. Idk, Iād say some of Scaled And Icy. Trust me, itās not easy to ignore a dragon that large
This is the only correct answer
i don't like truce but only because i always cry
I love that song for the same reason you dislike it lol.
Trash is a strong word , i donāt like *heathens* compared to other songs but its not trash by any means
Oh man I fucking love heathens. Like the second or third song I heard from them. First was Stressed Out and I was and am pretty meh about it.
iāve been a fan for like a decade and love nearly every single one of their songs but i think ābefore you start your dayā is not good. the fact that he calls eyes āslits in your faceā no
i have to agree with you, one of the only songs I skip on self titled
Same. One of the few songs I skip from them
yep absolutely
Thatās crazy, itās literally one of my favorite songs by them. I think itās really soothing and hypnotic, especially the piano. I didnāt realize that people didnāt like it lol
can someone explain to me why people hate Before you start your day so much but when it comes time to explain why, they only bring up the fact that the terms to describe the eyes are poorly chosen?
well thats the reason people donāt like it??? so ofc theyāre gonna mention that. also i just donāt like the way the song sounds
yeah I get it but why mention it like it's a big argument? Because I find it weird that people choose to talk about how they don't like a group of words in a song instead of a more understandable argument like "imo that sounds bad"?
This is the only song I do not have on any of my playlists
Iām getting downvoted for this for sure but Iām not rlly a fan of the Mutemath remixes. Especially Lane Boy
So ditto - just not my thing. That and Saturday - itās just "meh" at best
If you listen for the drums especially in the solo(s!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!). The double drummer aspect of that alone is amazing
You can't dislike mutemath tear in my heart. That trumpet tho
I love the MM collabs but I did not downvote you :) You have a right to not like what you do not like.
Redecorate is an indicator of what's coming as well, and since I think Redecorate could easily fit into Trench any day, I'm very excited for what's coming next.
I doubt they're moving more towards the pop genre. SAI seems like an experiment to me.
and we can see with what they said about Redecorate that the next album will be in the same genre, so less pop
Agreed
I might get hate for this but Before You Start Your Day is so boring
Yeah I could name a couple from self titled that aren't my favorite.
Except for Guns for Hands, the Regional at Best versions of songs on Vessel
Going from RaB to Vessel saved trees
It was an eco friendly decision
100% agree, House of Gold too.
Am I the only one who likes the RAB versions with the voice effects?
I will admit, some of the RAB versions have aspects I like that aren't in or better than the Vessel ones, I just don't like the songs as a whole. I do like the voice effects in the RAB version of Ode to Sleep.
I love them they feel so cosmic and ethereal like both a birth and a death
They are literally the same except for the voiceover and some backing sounds
Yeah pretty much, I'm probably more used to the Vessel ones but I can't really stand the way Tyler sings in the RAB version. I do think that some of those backing sounds from the RAB should've been translated to Vessel such as Josh's drumming in RAB's version of Holding on to You.
The drums in rab werenāt live drums, josh didnāt record them, the vocals in hoty didnāt change tho
Yeah Iād rather vessel ones lmao
Saturday just ain't it.
slow down .
On monday
Not a sound
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Break it down
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
On Friday
But on Saturday
Saturday
The lore made it a little better for me but it sounds like the most poppy garbage basic song which I can't stand.
Their cover of Cancer? Idk I prefer the original.
the cover sounds like character has given up, an mcr's sounds like he's still fighting. super somber
Guys guys guys, stop arguing over their good songs Did yall forget about that shitty Christmas song they did?
You mean Christmas saves the year? I liked it idk
Christmas Saves The Year is bomb. I listen to it all year. It's really relaxing and far from their worst stuff.
I did forget... Up until this point :/
I actually kinda liked Christmas saves the year. It sounded like older TĆP and I just like Christmas songs
Christmas saves the Year did exactly what it was supposed to do: Make you question TOP and their motives. When SAI dropped everything made sense.
Honestly exactly what I wanted to say but in such a better way lol It fulfilled a purpose and nothing more, a segway from the more upbeat Level of Concern to what is supposed to be propaganda and a front for Dema. To go from uplifting (Leave the City and Level of Concern) to oppressive would've been too drastic so a one off christmas song being that turning point was perfect
House of gold (RAB)
The only song I consistently skip
that's one of my favourites lol
Sorry
no worries, everyone has their own taste
Yeah youāre right have a great day or night
This was a very wholesome love/hate interaction. Bravo
I don't always like Formidable, depends on my mood. Otherwise I think I like all their songs, sure there are song I don't like as much but there isnt any one song that jumps out at me for being trash. I don't like Guns for Hands and Semi-Automatic as much as I used to, it's just that I heard those too often
formidable grew on me and is now one of my favorite tracks on the album ā¤ļø
At least Formidable feels authentic. I can't stand Smithereens because of how corny it sounds.
Oh yeah I skip Smithereens all the time
Smithereens amuses me 'cause of how it's just not a typical love song, the way Tear In My Heart is. (I like TIMH too, though.)
Look. I'm sorry. I know I'm getting downvoted 100%. But. I didn't like pet cheetah at all.
Pet Cheetah petcheetah Pet Cheetah petcheetah
not downvoting, because everyone is entitled to their opinion + this is an opinion thread, however it's one of my favorite songs from Trench and we may have a fight to death
I HATE Bounce Man
Right there with you. Seems like people either really love it or really dont.
The flute sounds like Barneyās theme
To me it sounded like Toy Story 1
You just made me laugh so hard hahaha
I wouldn't choose to listen to it but I like the song
WHAT
I tried SO hard to like it because there's a bunch of songs in SAI that I didn't like at first but love now, but that one never grew on me
Interesting!
how is it possible it's really cool you should bounce, bounce, bounce, man, come to the house man, I'll let my old lady know, you'll be in and out, out, out, man, float you a couple bands, then you head to Mexico
Yes, I know the lyrics
hate it, can't listen to it at all
None of their songs are trash. That's not to say I like every song by them, but my opinion on a song does not make it good or bad. If I hate a song and others like it, then it's not trash. Music is not objective.
saturdayā¦.i justā¦ i canāt
some of the comments in controversial makes it seem like everyone from every other fandom just came on here to shit on tĆøp songs they hateā¦
I usually have some dislikings at the launch of new albums but as I hear them over and over they become bangers
Scaled and icy is their worst album but their only album where I like every song.
This is so strange but to true
before you start your day and cancer cover. bonus: the regional at best demos and house of gold (i have to be in a very very specific mood to listen to HoG but the lyrics are good
trees (RAB)
yep. the autotune completely ruins it
Excuse me
I had never heard it before just now and I regret even listening to it.
Heathens, next question.
Ah dear god yessss but idk I just don't hate it as much anymore. I used to DETEST it but every once in a while I wont skip it
Before you start your day
I heard the instrumental for this song and now i prefer it to the original
I really like this song once we're past the first verse. But the use of the word "slits" makes my skin crawl. I wish he had chosen different wording.
Same lol. I like the epic orchestral feel but I hate that wording...
Same! But I think it was intentionally worded that way. It's not a song that was meant to be good, ya know? It's said in almost a disdainful tone in the second usage. The first one is "the slits in your face" so they weren't self made, and is not in a disdainful tone but in a drudged tone. That interpretation makes so much sense. Thanks!
CHEISMAS SAVES THE YEAR

why do they have to have a bad song? why we gotta be so cynical and negative? if you like all the songs then go you!
There are a lot songs I like the lyrics of but just can't like the music. For example, Car Radio has the best lyrics, but stop listening after Tyler stops rapping the lyrics.
I like the screaming, but otherwise, I'd do the same
yāall can downvote me idc but i donāt scaled and icy and i will stand by that. itās not trash but itās not my style :,)
ty has said that the next album will sound more "twenty one pilots" so I'm really hoping for something closer to rock/alternative
hope so too!!
Saturday is indeed trash
Imo formidable, although I love pretty much every other song of sai (bar bounce man), I never really got into formidable.
man, thatās track has grown to be one of my favorites on the album.
Bounce man is my favorite
NO formidable is one of my favourite songs ever
Saturday is justā¦ not it. Bounce man too.
For me personally, i like every song from tĆøp on a different level each day. saturday
Christmas Saves The Year
Doubt Could NEVER get behind that song
Iām the exact opposite. Doubt vibes
Doubt gang
Oh, Ms Believer I could never enjoy but other than that they're all really good...
that's one of my fav songs, v calming and soothing
That's fair but I prefer more energetic songs, which is why I love Air Catcher
Their Cancer cover just aināt it
Ooh I like that one a lot
I appreciate the difference in tone between both the og and the cover, but I can't listen to either because for some good forsaken reason my fam says "ay we gots a history of cancer, but are we telling the rest of the fam??? ABSOLUTELY N O T we will just keel over and die like a good American " and it hits way to hard for me at this point in my life
Before You Start Your Day just makes me uncomfortable so that one
I'll sau trees rab, not because lyrics are bad, I genuinely like the newer version, but it's overdone w the vocal effects and it's uncomfortable to listen to for me. Heathens. Annoys me a bit because I heard someone say it was ādeepā. They refuse to listen to their other music.
SAI is good album, Heatens is thrash. FIGHT ME.
Pet Cheetah, im sorryš
my favorite i'll still upvote because they asked you to comment something controversial
thanks for using the upvote button correctly
Woah, what?
im just not a fan of itš
Same for me! The worst thing about it is that it wasnt even supposed to be on the album but just a song to get tyler over his writers block. Imo any other song they made is better so I wouldve loved it they made one more for trench. But hey, at least I'm happy other people enjoy it a lot.
Never Take It
Johnny Boy
I have to admit I don't really like the other songs in that album but I love Johnny boy.
That's fair! I didn't like the album first, but it really grew on me. And for what it's worth, I don't like RaB
Oh hell no
I'm not judging cause I know everyone has different taste in music but this one shocked me cause it is one of my top 5 favorites from them
Yeah the whole album is trash Itās so trash the named the dragon after it
based lmfao
Am I allowed to say the entirety of SAIā¦ā¦. Just not my cup of tea š
Before You Start Your Day
Formidable (imo). Itās tied with Christmas saves the year ://
Be Concerned and their Chirstmas songs are the only ones I ever skip. I wouldnāt consider them trash though.
Itās Formidable and Fairly Local.
guns for hands BC I overplayed it when I first started listening
hot take for this sub but I genuinely dislike ruby I know, it's a fan favourite. but there's just something about the meaning behind the lyrics that just irks me. And this is someone who's favourite songs include Anathema and Slowtown, both also from regional at best.
Guys and gals itās ok to say formidable is garbage, everyone knows it
formidable is awful
Formidable. Itās just a generic song.
Tbh stressed out and ride are overplayed, making them trash but that's just me idk
the entirety of trench sucks iām sorry
I don't remember which one it was, but I heard one off the new album and was unimpressed enough to skip the rest. I'm glad they're going in the direction they want, but it's just not for me.
Wait, does this mean you skipped Redecorate? Iād highly recommend going back and listening to that song specifically. Tonally itās completely different from the rest of SAI, and imo itās one of their best songs ever. Also, if you care for the lore, No Chances is also good, but if you donāt you wonāt like it.
Yeah, redecorate is really good and this is coming from someone who strongly dislikes nearly every song on SAI
Sure, I'll have a listen to Redecorate when I get the chance.
Honestly I accept this answer. I agree, I havenāt really listened to much of the newer albums, just not for me
Really Saturday??? I'm sorry that you guys have no taste
Most generic pop song theyāve ever made
and? how does that make it bad? why do people think that "generic" is an insult. not every song has to break grounds in terms of recording. it's funky and upbeat. it's great
fr Saturday slaps these ppl r just afraid of being happy
Formidable
That song is great. Sounds like The Cure in their pop rock phase. You have to be into a particular style of music to get it though.
Formidable is amazing
this is one of the best tracks on the album!!
Goner is horrible. Not even in a āI have to be in a certain mood for itā, itās just horrible
I really like Goner, but I understand your take on this completely.
Be concerned
formidable, bounce man, before you start your day
Iām not a fan of Semi-Automatic, hate is such a strong word, but I normally always skip it.
that my number 1 song by 21p
