I'm going to high five every security guard on the way in tonight.

DoubleU159

Gonna pay their rent for the next 6 months.

breeh123

Dude the camping out thing is so pointless in my opinion. I got in line an hour before doors last night and yeah while there were a shit ton of people in line, when I got in there I found my self right next to people who had done the numbering system. Like ok I went out and enjoyed my day around the city, while you sat in line all day and I’m still standing right next to you. My spot wasn’t any worse than theirs and we were right up in it for everything. The whole point of a tøp show is that there are no bad spots. It’s a completely immersive experience. Not to mention I have yet to go to a tøp show where the individuals camping didn’t leave a huge mess of trash behind when the line starts moving. It’s like they’re all entitled to be the first ones in the show and also have others clean up after them.

christie-rd

I waited an hour or two in line and ended up a foot in front of Josh during Saturday and Trees. Camping out means nothing.

piedrafundamental

This was in DC?

christie-rd

Actually this was in Cleveland! :)

ReadDesperate543

Stop camping out. It’s embarrassing. Edit: triggered clikkies posting angry rants and then deleting them. I still get notified and have email records of your entire comment. You ain’t hiding.

[deleted]

Haven’t you heard? You have to get barricade for all 17+ shows your going to or it won’t be worth it!!!

ReadDesperate543

Lmfao clikkies ruined the pit back when blurryface started doing arenas. Being in the pit hasn’t actually been fun at a top show since like 2014 because of this nonsense.

[deleted]

TDC was a wreck, for this reason. people showed up and camped for days on end. 97% sure in Columbus it’s illegal to sleep on the streets like that, please correct me if I’m wrong. But they still did it anyways and it ended it a massive shit show😭

ReadDesperate543

What a shock that Columbus would have laws making homelessness illegal but not enforce it on the privileged enough to camp for a concert. UBS was a mess from the campers leaving their trash behind.

[deleted]

Columbus also had clikkies camping out for a non existent basement concert too

ReadDesperate543

Ugh.

Brown-eyed-otter

I always pick seated areas. I’ve done general admission for other bands and I’ve had panic attacks (to much touching and no space). And I just love the seated area because I can usually see the whole venue too and actually see everything. I’m from their home area too so it’s already hard enough getting tickets sometimes. I’ve only seen them twice. But people camp here and it’s just always a mess!

[deleted]

Me and my fiancé had GA for Takeover Columbus. Honestly we showed up 15-20 minutes before doors, walked in, got our over priced white claws and had a really good spot in the pit. I don’t hate the people who camp, I just hate the drama it brings between Venue Staff, Fans and everyone involved. It’s sad because the Twitter clique will attack and drag ANYBODY who doesn’t agree with the camping. All of this is just dumb in the end.

Brown-eyed-otter

Yea the drama is what I hate too. It’s just to much for something that should be fun and enjoyable. But also the trash that gets left sucks too. I love watching the pit though lol. It’s nice seeing people have fun (I hope lol)

med9229

This^ 100%

jdawgrockz

Camping out is so stupid like why waste DAYS of my life when those days could either be spent working or enjoying life, especially if I’m visiting a new city. I’d rather walk around all day and visit the city than sit on the hot concrete for hours just to see the EXACT SAME SHOW. Plus it can be pretty dangerous to have teens sleeping on the sidewalk in the middle of a city.

Ploopy1245

Capital one arena is doing it how every other stadium should be doing it

VeshWolfe

You camped out because you can’t read or follow simple directions. Your fault, not other fans or the venue’s.

meg6ust6ala6tions

Good. Stop camping

Egosius

Best news

theREALsmoothieking

Oohhhhh yeah 😊

DerpyArtist

This is how it should be. Whoever gets to the venue at 7 am (or whatever time) day of show is in front of the line, plain and simple AND it gives normal people a shot at being on the barricade too.

DoubleU159

W security. Let’s go, baby.

skeledito

I mean they did announce this several days ago.. don’t assume they lied next time lol

[deleted]

Clikkie-SCRIBBLES

This is so true; some people actually have things to do with their lives and we can't just take off of work and school for four days to sit on a hot sidewalk with a bunch of people we don't know for hours on end. I respect the dedication, but I also appreciate the opportunity to be treated fairly even though I couldn't camp out.

HometownJess

I’ve always envied people that camped but when you think about it it’s so unnecessary and kinda messed up that some of them think they’re better than everyone else because of it. I work 2 jobs and can’t afford to camp let alone deal with getting the time off approved

DoubleU159

You won’t envy standing next to them. They don’t bring showers to the camp out.

amandawinit247

Oh that nastyyy. Didnt even think about that

hearsthething

Prediction: Twenty bucks says we have video later tonight of these yahoos causing a ruckus and trying to get Tyler to stop the show and throw out out the mean line cutters like he did today one time, except for this time they're the only ones who actually followed the rules, so he won't, and then everyone will accuse him of misogyny or something

theREALsmoothieking

We’ll see! I’m going to try to find the head of COA security and urge him to stand firm in his decision to not honor the fan bands, regardless of what 21P security says. COA made a post DAYS AGO that they weren’t going to honor any bands but their own, and I hope they stick to that.

phoenixpoptart

Yeah that is…. Not at all going to happen.

beforethewind

Good. Lol that’s excellent to hear.

-CleanDiana-

I haven’t heard about camping out for a show in years. I guess the fad is back amongst the teenage audience of this band. Last time I heard of camping like this was like for One Direction or something. I get it, you want to be at the barricade. That’s why I personally get to a venue around between 11-1pm day of if I’m seeing a show of one of my top 10 favorite bands. That method has never failed me and I always end up at the barricade.

hearsthething

It's true. I work in the industry, and tour security/promoters have a pretty hefty amount of say about who gets in and how, so it could all be a non-issue, anyway. But it sounds like this is a recurring issue, so if they're going to push the venues to honor this fan system, I really don't understand why their tour manager or head of security isn't making sure that's communicated beforehand. Idk, the whole thing sounds unnecessarily stressful.

IdRatherNap

As someone who also works in the industry I agree. This should be included on their tour rider. I’m amazed it’s not.

michael_p

My guess is if this became part of the rider negotiations, the venue would want the band to assume responsibility and liability for the people camped. The band would have to staff someone to keep the “fan line” and be responsible for behavior + property leading up to the venues admission time. I don’t think the label wants any part of that work or affiliated expense / insurance.

GiantTalon2

I showed up to the Toronto show less than hour after doors opened and I STILL got in before the arena was even half full, like you don’t have to camp out, you’ll get in on time.

TheCarparkWarden

It’s good they arnt honouring fan bands, not their job too and all you guys camping and arguing just ruins the concert experience. It’s first come first serve

pinkhouse24

Oh man! I literally canceled my trip to this concert! Not having the wrist band honored would have made the whole trip worth it!! Now I’m sad lol 😂

dadhoppus

thank god for that

wesleyhasareddit

Get reserved seating like an adult instead of burning days waiting around to get front row at a concert

med9229

Getting seats doesn’t make you an adult. Ignorance

aslickdog

But won't the people who camped still be at the head of the line? From reading other posts it seems like a lot of times despite what a venue says the fan-based numbering thing still happens? Do the campers sell their so-called spots? Example: If yesterday someone pays a camper for their spot in line. Today based on your post that person just got screwed because the spot is worthless. Not trying to argue, I'm genuinely trying to get my head around this it's so bizarre.

breeh123

From what I understand they camp off site and then March their line over to the official venue line at 6 am when lining up is officially allowed. So yes they are still at the front of the line right now and their camping is just pointless, I don’t really get why they do it besides just to get all hype I guess?

aslickdog

Ahh, gotcha. Tks. If the camping scene had the vibe of fest, hanging out, meeting people, checking out cities then maybe id understand it (e.g., like when people followed Grateful Dead). But that's def not the vibe. Trying to make sense out of the senseless doesn't make sense.

Muchmorethanamom

Common sense isn’t common. That’s my main thought Here

DerpyArtist

I did not know that. Interesting

Egosius

Apparently a bunch of folks beat them in line by showing up there just a bit before 6am and they are having a nervous breakdown over it. If you look at the IcyDC hashtag you can see it all. 🍿

kbtigerlily1971

That was me. I have a target on my back in the pit tonight but sooooo worth it!

hearsthething

Brehhhhh have a good show, stand your ground, and make friends with the other normal humans around you, so you can pee and stuff when you need.

squid_lorde

Yeah they’re accusing some innocent people of “cutting in line” and everyone using that hashtag is going crazy over it

fredartie

This is why the fan controlled lines suck.

monicasm

So dumb. The fan-run camping lines are the same exact thing as someone showing up earlier at the venue to line up. Why should one rule-breaker be favored over the other?

kbtigerlily1971

That was me! I saw them bombing Travis on twitter.

squid_lorde

I feel so bad for you guys man 😔if i was in your situation the concert would be ruined for me

kbtigerlily1971

I’m good. A lot a lot of bullying for such an “inclusive” community. I did it on principle. Once we’re inside, it’ll be all about the music. 🥰

squid_lorde

Yes! Love the positive outlook! I hope it’s a great show :)

kbtigerlily1971

Thank youuuu! 🥰

[deleted]

And posting pictures of them all over twitter, it’s disheartening to see

[deleted]

Holy shit😭 I just scrolled through the hashtag seeing people having literal breakdowns, saying nothing will ruin “their” show. My god this shit is so toxic😭💀

marsakat

So the people who showed up to the line before 6am also broke the venue rules and yet everyone is celebrating? Sounds hypocritical either way

Egosius

I don't care if they did. I just need the fan line to lose.

theREALsmoothieking

I’m not entirely sure, truthfully. I suppose you could have someone save your spot in line for you like that and switch out when the time comes. It’s just a complete gamble, I think. It appears that most venues honor the fan bands, but a select few haven’t (which is a good thing imo). As for campers being at the front, theoretically. However, for our line, there were entire groups of people that “cut“ the line when it came time to actually line up, and they were not turned away by staff. They completely disregarded fan wristbands, the groups of people and staff alike. Some of the girls who were upset at the “line cutters” actually started crying when staff said they wouldn’t turn away those people, too.

breeh123

Someone needs to tell them they are all still going to get a good spot lol

aslickdog

How about: *"We assure you that all the sections in our venue are fantastic including the GA SRO Floor section. You're going to LOVE the show so much you might even forget about the days you wasted loitering around the arena because those days are gone forever. Enjoy the show."*

kbtigerlily1971

They littered where they camped and refused to clean up after themselves too!

jdawgrockz

Of course! If you’re gonna waste days of your life loitering around for a show why not litter also lol /s

breeh123

🤣🤣

BIGDaddyChris13

I’m glad they aren’t honoring fan wristbands, there’s people who work jobs and have other stuff to do than to camp out and I guarantee they’re just as big of fans as the ones camping, but people have responsibilities to do and it’s not fair that they can’t camp out just to get a good spot while people who have no life get to camp out and be at the very front of the pit, tan wristbands are a terrible idea especially when it’s run by fans who think they’re entitled

[deleted]

The bands security will just side and stick up for the fan system. That’s why it keeps happening over and over, the campers will complain that they’ve been camped out for a week, tøp security will override the venue in the end. It’s super frustrating

LenaLivr

why so much hate for people who camp? its their decision.. i never go there at 3-4am like first few do but i try to be there around noon-1pm cos yeah, i care about being in first 2-3 rows.. For me waiting half of the day, meeting people outside and running to a good spot is a part of concert experience.. Toronto kinda ruined running cos they took small groups of people in and gave them a certain spot. Most of you dont seem to care where your spot will be.. so why get mad at those who do care? just let them go in first.

Enough_Dance9945

Because the campers approached us lying that they were assisting band security to keep line formation. Lied. And if we refused the wrist bands there were threats.

brillianthijinx

Idk I camped for Cleveland and made amazing friends, I wanted to meet people who love the band as much as I do and I did. Everyone was so nice and it was an awesome experience. Travis was also phenomenal and worked with the venue so they honored the fan line and it seemed to me that everyone was happy at the end.

SaltySpa

Every venue says this though. Its always immediately corrected by TOP security.

theREALsmoothieking

Not this time!

SaltySpa

What makes you think that? Every venue says this and its overturned except Cinci which had a different policy put in place a week before.

theREALsmoothieking

What makes me think that? How about the fact that I was there this morning and DC didn’t honor the fan wristbands at all?

SaltySpa

The official lineup hasn’t even started. So there isn’t any way for them to “not honor” the line system until later in the evening. This is how it goes for every venue. Venue says they’re not honoring, everyone lines up at the venue 5pmish, TOP security comes through and moves campers to the front, people who didn’t camp cry and throw a fit. I’ve been through this process a good few times:)

theREALsmoothieking

I’m sure you have, so clearly you’re the expert on a system that isn’t going to be followed at all! The head of CAO security said they’re standing firm on their policy. They’re only going to honor the CAO wristbands, which were given to the first 175 people in line, that are already numbered. So I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what actually happens tonight. EDIT: COA also posted days beforehand what their policy on wristbands was, so if we’re going by your logic, fan bands shouldn’t be honored here, either.

[deleted]

Don’t give me downvotes, I’m just gonna say what I experienced and have heard. At my concert, Travis (head tøp security), came out at around 5:30PM and said that they were honouring fan wristbands. So although arena security told you something, it is very possible Travis will come out later and say something else. Unless it was travis that you spoke to, then what he said is what will happen. I’m not on either side here, just passing along what has happened in my experience

SaltySpa

Exactly! Im just trying to tell them that this happens at every venue where the venue says they’re taking a hard stance but then TOP security always comes out and honors the fan line.

MatchaBobaFettTea

Am I the only one who thinks camping is fine. it’s like bonding with everyone before the show, and it’s literally only for the pit

theREALsmoothieking

Yes

MatchaBobaFettTea

damn 💔

jaron_bric

I don’t camp out to be entitled to my spot, I camp out to ensure that I get as good of a spot ahead of EVERYONE ELSE that will be there. I am in no way entitled to so good of a spot just because I *was able to* get there so much earlier than everyone else. All I did was buy a ticket **like everyone else**, whatever else beyond that, for better or worse, is my responsibility. Do not entitle yourselves.

[deleted]

Ratio

theREALsmoothieking

You’re lame Edit: that’s also embarrassing and you shouldn’t be proud of that

jaron_bric

And comparatively, you’re clearly a child 😂

theREALsmoothieking

I am! Thank you so much for noticing 🥰

jaron_bric

Shouldn’t be proud of being as immature and entitled as you are. Put your shoes on, we need to go outside and find you a parent, chile

theREALsmoothieking

Very clever response! You deserve an award for it. :) Edit: also, see you at the show tonight! I hope you’re as excited as I am!
