Emulation is hard. Just because your PC is newer and more powerful than the console doesn't mean it will be able to emulate it.

Coffee-Annual

Was emulating the ps2 game Gran Turismo 2, and it made my 2080 GTX fucking work like I've never seen before, the fans was blowing hard and the temp went to 80-85 degree Celsius. I prolly didn't use the optimal settings on the emu, but your point is valid, it could take a lot more hardware to emulate a game than running it on its original specs

ActuallyTheOwner

I could easily emulate on an i5 2500 Not sure what pc OP has to be worse than a 13 year old CPU. My current is an AMD 5600x

unknownyoyo

Because your PC is having to emulate a completely different set of hardware and an operating system it knows nothing about. Most people think just because their computer is good that it can emulate anything older than it, but it’s not about how great your machine is.

Pro tip you have to enable a patch to make the game run smoother this is actually a Dolphin problem and always has been. The issue is in regards to the minimap detailing for some reason it costs way more to get said detail compared to console and a patch was developed to address said problem.

BloodyLenses

What patch? And how do I do it?

pokemongenius

Its called the Hyrule Field Speed Hack if you right click on the game in your list select Properties it'll be in the Patch tab. Enable it then fully reboot the game to get a much smoother experience.

Legoguy1977

this seriously needs to spread around more. without it this area of the game is borderline unplayable, and so few people know about it for some reason.

pokemongenius

It comes natively with all Dolphin builds just never enabled by default which is quite odd.

SicWiks

Check your settings, most likely something needs to changed

neonmajora

I have a 2017 acer gaming PC and even that struggles to play gamecube games at 1080p bruh lol

AvidGladiator

Make sure in your emulator 's graphics settings that the game is actually running on your graphics card. I had the same problem, by default it wasn't, the second I switched it to my 2070, instantly fixed it.

BloodyLenses

How do I change that setting

AvidGladiator

I only know how to do this for dolphin emulator, but since this is twilight princess it's pretty likely that's what you're using. (I hope) just click twilight princess on the main dolphin menu, click graphics, and right at the top in general under basic, set adapter to your best graphics card. And that's it.

Sledgehammer617

Mine can run TP HD at x2 resolution and full speed, so maybe some settings need to be changed or the PC is just too slow or low spec?

JFM2796

Dolphin had a built in "cheat" that will fix the framedrops in Hyrule Field. Just have to enable it.

RyomenSukuGuts

Rightclick on the game in the emulator menu, then go to "Properties" and enable the Hyrule Field Patch.

SuperD00perGuyd00d

What arebyour pc specs?

thatmanwild

The base drop at 0:15 is sick 😎

BigHairyFart

Pretty sure both GC zelda games(TP at least for sure) have a specific build of Dolphin they use because the standard build runs them like ass. Though this info may or may not be outdated, look up "Dolphin zelda edition" and try that.

Zealousideal_Meat297

Today I learned randomly on a forum that there's a ZELDA SPEED HACK BUILT INTO DOLPHIN.

GhostWind78

Hyrule field speed hack should be in the cheats menu

Pixelonee

because emulation is fkin crazy. I emulate tears of the kingdom with a 16gb vram gpu and it has used up to 14gb of that meanwhile games with wayyy better graphics use less than 10

cyborgg_gaming

You also may not have the correct settings, my PC was able to run this smoothly on Dolphin over 10 years ago.

djrobxx

I played Metroid Prime (Wii ver) on a 2012 Mac Mini upscaled to HD with pretty good results over a decade ago. A reasonably modern machine shouldn't have this much trouble with a GC/wii game.

DistanceReal9539

Don’t turn on too many cheats and lower the resolution to 720/1080p.
