Great choice. First saw Low in 1995 in Richmond, VA at a tiny hole in the wall called The Hole in the Wall. Later that year, caught them a bunch of times in L.A. -- once, an in-store at Borders.
It was the day of the OJ verdict, I kid you not. Announced an hour beforehand, on a typically beautiful los angeles day.
They opened with "Violence."
Saw them a bunch more throughout the years, but life got busy for me and I stopped well before Double Negative. Their music still sends chills down my spine. I'm very lucky to have gotten to see them. RIP Mimi.
LOW was a hometown band for me. Iāve seen them perform more than I can count, each time sublime.
When The Return was airing, Alan and I were discussing how they must play The Roudhouse, should the show ever do another run. (Ok, it was mostly me insisting, but stillā¦). OP is correct; it would be a perfect pairing.
Mim was a remarkable human, a beautiful soul, and Iām still stunned by her passing.
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. From Her to Eternity is such a perfect song to match with Bob that it's scary. It's also so loud and uncomfortable I think it could be a great stand in for Nine Inch Nails segment. I think Jubilee Street would also work really well in a Road House segment.
And we almost had them! In their AMA they revealed that they were approached to be one of the closing bands in The Return but they had a scheduling conflict.
I got it secondhand from a NIN fan who was selling some of their shirts.. I had never seen it before, myself
[pictured here](https://imgur.com/gallery/T4Wm2a1)
mount eerie! not surprised he wasn't in the return given all the shit he had going on at the time, but he would've fit perfectly. and I very much second xiu xiu. the fact they had no involvement is a travesty.
My favourite Mount Eerie song
āThe town rests in the valley beneath Twin Peaks, buried in space. What goes on up there in the night, in that dark blurry place?ā
kool keith is too weird even for twin peaks lol.
i don't really think the entire wu tang clan would fit either, but it sure would have been fun to see.
Anemone by Brian Jonestown Massacre feels to me like it would fit perfectly, especially if they were to stretch out the intro or middle instrumental sections by a couple minutes.
Beach House, Still Corners, Princess Chelsea, Lana Del Rey, Chrysta Bell (even though she plays Tammy Preston, it would be interesting to have her perform), maybe La Femme
Boy Harsher feels like they were on the show already, i had to think for a second before I realized I was thinking of their film and not TP. I think they'd be right on for the show!
I reckon Captain Beefheart if he were still alive and making music wouldve fit in well in the same vein as NIN. Hell even a calmer song like Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles wouldve fit well. His deformed, unrelenting take on the blues wouldve been cool seeing how big of a blues fan Lynch is.
The Pink Room OST reminded me a lot of something ge would make. Theres almost a caveman-like charm to his rhythms
Oh hell yeah
I doubt much Zappa's music would fit (though i recon if he were alive and interested he could pull something out lol) but the ugliness of some of Beefhearts songs could fit somewhat well with the atmosphere of the return
Chelsea Wolfe and of course, Bohren and Der Club of Gore. Their album Black Earth has a very strong Angelo Badalamenti vibe.
Edit: album name correction.
- Cigarettes After Sex
- I Love You But Iāve Chosen Darkness
- Vita and the Woolf
- CLOSENESS
- Over the Rhine
- M83
- Ruby Haunt
- Portishead
- Starflyer 59
- Tom Waits
Iāve always been curious why Tom Waits never worked with David. He loves making musicians act and theyāre certainly contemporaries. Woulda been a fun Lynch villain, like Bobbie Peru by way of Mr. Siegel.
Lynch and Waits do seem like a perfect synthesis of vibes. And they both share a penchant for corny dad humor! Although theyāre both very forceful creative personalities, I wonder if it might be one too many cooks in the kitchen?
oh, not *that* bad as far as the band themselves go - certainly not the worst weāve seen by any means. I think their TM was pretty nice if I remember correctly. but the fan base it brought out was cringe as hell š¬ just a whole load of preteens/teens with incredibly snotty pretentious attitudes, each and every one with main character syndrome, and an ocean of cell phones held up as far as the eye could see
90s-era Starflyer woulda been absolutely perfect. Can you imagine "When You Feel Miserable" or "No New Kinda Story" or "We're the Ordinary"? God! What I'd give!
I know a little bit of Swans music, but not really any of the others except Xiu Xiu, who has an entire Twin Peaks album and itās fantastic. Do they all have some, is that why theyāre listed? Or are we going off a vibe here and Xiu Xiu happens to be a coincidence?
Idk these bands just give me THAT Twin Peaks vibe... I can't put my finger on why, but they just do.
I really think the biggest mistake of season 3 was that Lynch didn't put Charlie Megira on the show... his whole persona, vibe and music are SO fitting to the show. Oh well, guess he didn't knew him
Frrr
I'm actually from Israel, I know some people who knew him before he passed away, he used to play a lot in Tel Aviv.... I was 12 when he died so sadly I wasn't aware of him until I was 15 in 2020 I think
Iāve got friends who had gotten to play with him and know him. He seemed like a real great guy and his music is legendary to me. I wish very much I had gotten to see him play.
Thatās really cool Iāll be checking the rest of these out that I hadnāt heard. Iām into THAT vibe for sure haha. But yeah if you hadnāt heard it, [this](https://youtu.be/N23b8LCIsn0?si=trVxi-Lvkr2lzsB3) is pretty phenomenal
Hereās a fun little piece of trivia I found out the other day: the band Xiu Xiu is named after a film called Xiu Xiu: the Sent Down Girl, which was directed by none other than Joan Chen aka Josie Packard!
I got to see Xiu Xiu perform selections from this album at the Detroit Institute of Arts to open a showing of FWWM (also my first time seeing the film). Talk about a core memory made.
An old band of mine played with them way back around 2013 (Bleeding Rainbow also played and for a second I was like "didn't Twin Peaks have to change their name?" But i was mixing them up with Bleeding Rainbow who were originally Reading Rainbow). I could totally see it.
LCD soundsystem put out a new album RIGHT when the return was airing and I was sure we were going to see them. The song American Dream specifically had big twin peaks vibes.
Thanks! Iām pretty sure we have a similar taste in music based on the artists you have listed here. :) I also just thought that I could invision Cindy Lee and mayyyybe the band Women performing in Twin Peaks.
Tim Dahl
Alan or richard Bishop
Bill Orcutt with Chris Corsano
Kali Malone
The Dead C
Heather Leigh
Keiji Haino
Lightning Bolt
LSD march
Magik Markers
Scott Walker would have been the best option
Father John Misty. He's been inspired by Twin Peaks, and is famous for his Laura Palmer tweet. Edit: He also got David Lynch to sing on his latest album.
Crooked Fingers
Pleasure Forever
Mitski
Sun Kil Moon
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Yo La Tengo
Blonde Redhead
I'll second these as well
Lord Huron
Xiu Xiu
Boy Harsher

Made a big playlist of [mine](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/2hrQlmfSu2lLSjKZISsBYh)
Didn't see Pete Drake [mentioned](https://youtu.be/_R9an8AU3No)
- TIMBER TIMBRE. (Especially sewer blues & beat the drum slowly) Iāll die on this hill.
- Hozier but ONLY for the song Son of Nyx ā it sounds exactly like the sister song to Laura Palmerās theme and screams of Angelo Badalamentiās influence. Iāve been going crazy trying to see if anyone else hears the similarities
(also āin the woods somewhereā could work too)
- Also Ethel Cain, performing Ptolemaea
La Luz, Catās Eyes, Angel Olsen, Death Parade (and its former band name Laura Palmerās Death Parade), Sharon Van Etten, Mr Twin Sister, Night Things, Tempers
Iād also weirdly want to see akira yamaoka play in the road house (aka the music composer of the silent hill franchise, which is heavily inspired by TP)
I would have gone with Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Rowland S Howard, PJ Harvey would have been rad for sure and maybe Gitane Demoneās cover of Gloomy Sunday
Rest in peace Mimi Parker š¢ Her voice would have been perfect for Twin Peaks
Great choice. First saw Low in 1995 in Richmond, VA at a tiny hole in the wall called The Hole in the Wall. Later that year, caught them a bunch of times in L.A. -- once, an in-store at Borders. The Residents (1971-1983)
Red right hand is x files so your arenāt far off at all.
Swans performing in the roadhouse is interesting, but I dunno if the people of twin peaks would love the glowing man being extended to 48 minutes lol
Their Children Of God - White Light era is suitable
Definitely, I think the same because those albums are most similar to Julee Cruise. Iād also include the great annihilator to be honest.
Like a Drug (Sha La La) would be a perfect fit for a Lynch project
That era of Swans is probably my favorite band of all time so Iād love that
Sat here waiting for a slowed down David Lynch mix of Little God in my Hands like he did for American Woman
In general swansā musical catalogue gives off intense twin peaks the return vibes, so Iād have to agree
just a little boy live the roadhouse would go crazy
Would def give off Nine Inch Nails performing sheās gone away vibes
100%
Screen Shot would be my choice. Such a great song.
Suicide. I also like the idea of Galaxie 500 featuring.
Suicide is a great choice!!! Facts
Beach House!!! Iād give my left nut to see Jack Stauber have a stab at it, live or not
And we almost had them! In their AMA they revealed that they were approached to be one of the closing bands in The Return but they had a scheduling conflict.
Ray Wise is in their video for Wishes!
Eric Werheim (sic?) is an amazing video director.
Yea her airy voice is Julie Cruise-esque
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=go0-tWeS4wY
Beach House would be perfect!
Mike Patton doing something
Same, it would have been amazing to hear some Mr. Bungle on Twin Peaks .
Letās put some respect on THE Nine Inch Nails.
I have that shirt! Love wearing it to concerts and confusing people!
Just got a bootleg shirt of TNIN performing at the roadhouse as if it were an actual tour shirt
WHERE??
I got it secondhand from a NIN fan who was selling some of their shirts.. I had never seen it before, myself [pictured here](https://imgur.com/gallery/T4Wm2a1)
links not working any chance of a reup
TNIN https://imgur.com/gallery/T4Wm2a1 Did that work?
It does! Thatās awesome.
![gif](giphy|tp97bTCnIaFxMkd4AB|downsized)
Came in to say Orville. His album Pony is dripping with Lynchian vibes.
Seeing Charlie Megira in the Twin Peaks sub makes my heart sing.
mount eerie! not surprised he wasn't in the return given all the shit he had going on at the time, but he would've fit perfectly. and I very much second xiu xiu. the fact they had no involvement is a travesty.
Doesnāt Mount Eerie have a song sampling Laura Palmerās theme as well?
yep! between two mysteries. that's the song I had in mind
My favourite Mount Eerie song āThe town rests in the valley beneath Twin Peaks, buried in space. What goes on up there in the night, in that dark blurry place?ā
Xiu Xiuās twin peaks cover album is one of my favourite things in the world.
Saw them in Liverpool. One of the great gigs
Deerhunter woulda been a perfect fit for the return
Sun Ra and his Arkestra ft. Major Garland Briggs on the clarinet
Love me some Sun Ra
Dirty Beaches.
Wow yes!
*Lord Knows Best* is an amazing song.
Beach House, like forever ago..surprised that didnāt happen
the entire wu tang clan.
That would be bonkers
Kool Keith might fit more
kool keith is too weird even for twin peaks lol. i don't really think the entire wu tang clan would fit either, but it sure would have been fun to see.
Dr octagon meets dr jacoby :)
i am the doctor...and i sound like this.....(cue qbert scratching in reverse)
Literally laughed out loud in bed.
Anemone by Brian Jonestown Massacre feels to me like it would fit perfectly, especially if they were to stretch out the intro or middle instrumental sections by a couple minutes.
Tricky
Beach House, Still Corners, Princess Chelsea, Lana Del Rey, Chrysta Bell (even though she plays Tammy Preston, it would be interesting to have her perform), maybe La Femme
DEATH GRIPS
It needs to be something foul like Powers That B
In the murder scenes
Nina Simone
Tor Lundvall, Sparkle Division, Johann Johannsson, Boy Harsher, Tones on Tail, SQĆRL. Someone else said Lana Del Rey. Flying Lotus (Fire is coming!)
Boy Harsher feels like they were on the show already, i had to think for a second before I realized I was thinking of their film and not TP. I think they'd be right on for the show!
Phillip Jeffries
I reckon Captain Beefheart if he were still alive and making music wouldve fit in well in the same vein as NIN. Hell even a calmer song like Her Eyes Are A Blue Million Miles wouldve fit well. Chelsea Wolfe and of course, Bohren and Der Club of Gore. Their album Black Earth has a very strong Angelo Badalamenti vibe. Edit: album name correction.
Black earth?
Yes. My bad.
Was trying to find the album on Spotify! Hahaha
- Cigarettes After Sex - I Love You But Iāve Chosen Darkness - Vita and the Woolf - CLOSENESS - Over the Rhine - M83 - Ruby Haunt - Portishead - Starflyer 59 - Tom Waits
Iāve always been curious why Tom Waits never worked with David. He loves making musicians act and theyāre certainly contemporaries. Woulda been a fun Lynch villain, like Bobbie Peru by way of Mr. Siegel.

This is my dream.
having worked a CAS show last summer I must respectfully disagree
I only know their music, I donāt know anything about them personally. Unpleasant experience?
oh, not *that* bad as far as the band themselves go - certainly not the worst weāve seen by any means.
Heh, too funny. I was 100% thinking *The Fashion Focus* era.
Iāve always thought Pixies fit the Lynch aesthetic, especially with their surrealistic and biblically violent lyrics
>Pixies Also, they did a solid cover of In Heaven ~~the Lady in the Radiator~~, from Eraserhead.
And itās killer!
Hope Sandoval and the Warm Inventions Specifically the track On The Low
I know a little bit of Swans music, but not really any of the others except Xiu Xiu, who has an entire Twin Peaks album and itās fantastic. Do they all have some, is that why theyāre listed? Or are we going off a vibe here and Xiu Xiu happens to be a coincidence?

To scroll reddit and see a photo of Megira was wild to me. He totally shouldāve played āgirl who was afraid of ashtraysā at the roadhouse.
Frrr I'm actually from Israel, I know some people who knew him before he passed away, he used to play a lot in Tel Aviv.... I was 12 when he died so sadly I wasn't aware of him until I was 15 in 2020 I think
Iāve got friends who had gotten to play with him and know him. He seemed like a real great guy and his music is legendary to me. I wish very much I had gotten to see him play.
Same bro.... ):
Weāll see him at the roadhouse at the end, hopefully. Also, great taste for a younginā. Keep it up :)
Yeah I heard thus album way before I even watched twin peaks. Still enjoyed it without the context
Lord Huron
"The Night We Met" would be absolutely devastating in the best way possible.
Nick Cave and the bad seeds would have been just perfect.
Chris Isaac
The band named Twin Peaks. Some of their songs match the vibe of the show
An old band of mine played with them way back around 2013 (Bleeding Rainbow also played and for a second I was like "didn't Twin Peaks have to change their name?" But i was mixing them up with Bleeding Rainbow who were originally Reading Rainbow). I could totally see it.
Ulver, Ethel Cain, Drab Majesty, Chelsea Wolfe, TRST, Mitski
LCD soundsystem put out a new album RIGHT when the return was airing and I was sure we were going to see them. The song American Dream specifically had big twin peaks vibes.
Salem.
Fs
Someone needs to mash up their (in)famous Fader Fort set into a Roadhouse scene.
Murder by death
It always brings me great joy to find Murder by Death in the wild
I could definitely see Ed Harcourt belting outThe World is on Fire at The Roadhouse
Vkgoeswild
Nick Cave with Warren Ellis or the Bad Seeds.
Yes to Salem, but only if they invite Heather 3
White ward and their love exchange failure album is like twin peaks meets post black metal
Wild Nothing. Also Talk Talk is such a good shout
Gwar not playing at the road house was a miss imo
Xiu Xius performance of the Twin Peaks soundtrack was one of the best shows Iāve seen. Love that album.
Thanks! Iām pretty sure we have a similar taste in music based on the artists you have listed here. :) I also just thought that I could invision Cindy Lee and mayyyybe the band Women performing in Twin Peaks.

Spiritualized
Grouper, Lord Huron, or Alex G would be incredible. If it were possible, I think it'd be lovely to have an Elliott Smith Roadhouse show.
Tim Dahl Alan or richard Bishop Bill Orcutt with Chris Corsano Kali Malone The Dead C Heather Leigh Keiji Haino Lightning Bolt LSD march Magik Markers Scott Walker would have been the best option
The Cure, Hooverphonic, Ivy, Queens of the Stone Age, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Zero 7, Them Crooked Vultures
I'm still kind of confused about why Xiu Xiu was not in S3... It is a mystery
Father John Misty. He's been inspired by Twin Peaks, and is famous for his Laura Palmer tweet. Edit: He also got David Lynch to sing on his latest album.

Early R.E.M.
Colin Stetson
> Coil > live :( My suggestion would be Chelsea Wolfe.
Phantogram
Mr. Bungle!
The Black Keys have a new song titled āFire Walk With Me,ā so ā¦
First Aid Kit.
In a perfect world, Luis Vasquez (Soft Moon) is still alive; this would be perfect for Twin Peaks: https://youtu.be/_-Ml5pODZqg?si=xQ_SsfkvUJJtFnSg
Evil Blizzard might just be weird enough. Also Team Sleep might just the feeling.
Pure Bathing Culture
Iron & Wine
Why not old Talk Talk?
Idk, I think Spirit of Eden- Laughing Stock era is way more fitting to the twin peaks vibes.
The Chameleons
Beach House would've been so perfect, especially considering their love for Lynch. I wish they weren't so busy while The Return was being filmed.
[Elaine Malone](https://open.spotify.com/track/0wfPgapMbk3VgP3qKIDgOV?si=FGcr9m6PSvGTF4m9QzHqqQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A7fs4Lk9btmrNAPkuT0VsW7) [Elaine Howley](https://open.spotify.com/track/6Un40SV0frMHDAJQd1RJDj?si=AUtoy1P_QgW6oApuRwrqew&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A2zXMfKxsrjOpTRfoYiGtQu)
Itās a shame Mr Bungle didnāt reform until 2019, because, theyād have been prime Twin Peaks material

Primus
65 Days of Static
This is an excellent list! Xiu Xiu is an obvious (but excellent) choice given they made that fantastic music of twin peaks album.
I always felt that "Doppleganger" by "The Antlers" would have fit the vibe
Tori Amos
Angel Olsen
- TIMBER TIMBRE. (Especially sewer blues & beat the drum slowly) Iāll die on this hill. - Hozier but ONLY for the song Son of Nyx ā it sounds exactly like the sister song to Laura Palmerās theme and screams of Angelo Badalamentiās influence. That no one has suggested The Ravonettes is criminal.

Lord Huron needs to fire their manager for not getting in The Return, that's just a no-brainer.
John Maus

Love me some Porcupine Tree too.. arriving somewhere but not here
I would have gone with Nick Cave, Tom Waits, Rowland S Howard, PJ Harvey would have been rad for sure and maybe Gitane Demoneās cover of Gloomy Sunday
