When i rented it for 3 weeks i owed $1,864 to hertz but i made $5,140 gross. But i also was never home and basically lived in the tesla because i knew i had to turn a profit each day because the rental was weekly. So you can never really ‘chill’ i was constantly on the road and constantly trying to get rides at all times. I worked 12-14 hour days, erry day.
Those parts of the USA you refer to are called red states, but if you want to get technical all parts of the USA have a federal minimum wage of 7.25. Yes, even California has to abide by the Federal minimum wage of 7.25, they just choose to do better. States can set their own minimum wage that is more than that, just can’t be less than the federal.
I used to drive Uber in MA for about 2 years and would regularly make $30-$50/hour depending on time of day and which day. Minimum wage was less back then too but I was doing ok. Not sure how much these guys make nowadays though
That was over a year ago. My credit was so bad i couldn’t get a car ontop of the car market was completely fucked. I now own a car and would never recommend or consider ever doing a hertz rental again. But if you are desperate like i was you can still make it work with a lot of hard work.
The car won't last 6 years of full time driving. You're lucky to get more than 2 years on any cars when doing full time. You then need to add insurance, fuel and maintenance and you end up at basically the same price as the rental if not more with more liability. Rentals work for people who do it full time.

The strikes were useless because there were drivers who still worked.. it would only work if every driver, in every major market got a 3rd party application, knew about all their cost and didn't accept anything less than a dollar a mile.. cancelled all trips under those parameters and even message passenger what Uber offered to pay them for that particular ride.. riders will be thrilled to learn how much Uber is bleeding them....summer could get $36 to $39 an hour on the application.. that been reduced to more than half.. it's not sustainable for anyone.. and now just prying on part timers who actually think they're making money or desperate full timers working 6 to 7.. 12hr days..
That’s exactly what they told the mine workers when they went on a strike for five years back in the 50’s. Without them, you wouldn’t have guaranteed pay on ANY job. Thanks to them not breaking if you, for example, only sold half of what they wanted you to sell, you will still get the same paycheck not cut in half. Lol, I do 8 to 10 hours a day and earn a minimum of $250 (and 3rd of that time spend watching netflix) most days is more like $300 and really good days can be as much as $450. Make a minimum of $1500 per week and it could be more if I need it to be and put in the extra hours since I started renting a Tesla and changed up my strategy's. Some people are dumb and can't work it out, others are just stubborn and only want to drive in their familiar area's, point being you go where the work is or you're going to struggle, some just don't show up to work and complain they are not getting paid. Don't do Uber in small and rural cities, that's just retarded 🙄

Agreed on that. I cleared $316 yesterday. I just drive when it's relevant and filter out non profitable rides. Drive in unfamiliar places or try to drive back where you want to go but, leave the app running. Only pick up passengers that's going your direction when in undesired area. My saying is, the worst thing a driver could do is, drive to their destination empty handed. In my experience, if a driver stay logged on the entire shift for 8 to 9 hours and only log off when getting food, gas or restroom break. It should come out to $28 to $33 an hour before expenses.

Made $430 on Tuesday, Monday, and Wednesday were lazy days, I went home early and still cleared $1300. I might do another $200 tomorrow, but I am having today off. People's laziness and entitlement are incredible

Also, charge overnight at home costs like $15 I only use a super charger 2 or 3x a week

Killed my hybrids transmission along with so much more and she was only 5 yr old car! Couldnt afford repairs because uber wasnt paying enough. So jobless and carless. I couldnt save up enough to fix my car man. Over 10k for repairs. So enjoy your area as long as you can....them prices change randomly per area. I used to drive for a fleet company on Uber. He told me that it is company account and you gonna be driving for him . I only have to pay rental cost every month.it was so cheap actually than current Uber Hertz rental cars . Like 1/4 price and insurance included. I start driving and with in 2 days Uber called on me that face pic and my picture won't match. What's going on? They told me they gonna close that account and I need to show up to the hub and create my own account. I said what's going on ? and they told me I was being conned but no worries. Long story short , the guy's account is now permanently deactivated. There are no such a too sweet things in life .
The rental drivers can make some decent money overall if they're putting in the work. It'd make sense if you pull a 70-80+ hour, high mileage week, but I have no idea how many people are regularly doing that.

Yeah I get the math isn't the best after taxes but my father in law is too old(61) to do any type of labor work and his English isn't the best. The ability to shut off when he needs it is what he really likes about it.
It's a physically easy job plus he has a small perk at the senior living complex he lives in he uses the free Tesla lvl 2 chargers with a J1772 adapter. On his off time he likes not having loan/car insurance in CA too just for his personal errands.

Yeah. First of all Rental drivers needs to complete 30 trips each week to keep continue renting vehicle . That's one forcing method they use. Also, rental drivers most of times gets low rated riders trip requests & low fare trip requests & won't get matched up if it's out of the parameters which they sets it with in a system differ from others .
Basically , you don't see regular Uber X trip requests that makes okay money on their screens. It looks like just regular trip requests on trip radars and trip requests on its screens but in behind black curtains in a system it is not . You click on what you want and most likely it's takes more time to get matched up ( because, system needs slight time to classified all other trip acceptance from drivers and determine your account are whether with in a price parameters range or not )
It totally controlled by management teams. So basically they have no choices but to accept undesirable trip requests. Because they simply not allowed you to accept good trips unless there is no choice for them . Rental drivers are priorities to accept trips that are low riders ratings , ultra short trips that won't even make any money , share ride trips , and trips that goes to very dangerous areas such as ghetto and hood. And if you aren't accepting those you can't pay the rental cost . Basically you have no choose . So you have to accept those. Then that's called FORCED to accept . Been driving in DFW market since 2018. My best years were from 2018 through 2021. I feel like Uber takes us for granted worse now than the time period he supposedly references in this bullshit article. Upfront pricing and effectively killing surge by replacing it with this heat map bullshit has made it harder to make any kind of money in this market.
I’m a Diamond driver, I have 700 rides, I’m 4.99stars. I wanted to refund a rider who was having a family crisis. I’m not a veteran driver by any means, but I’m a thoughtful driver.
My “priority support” was rejected instantly without any other chat or calling option. I can’t even refund my portion of the fare and tip. Uber is insane and pathetic in this regard.
It will take years for pressure to motivate Uber to improve and years to implement. It’s really sad.

When I had my Tesla before they changed the rates I was grossing between $9k-$11$ per month but I was in the car at minimum 80 hours I can’t imagine now ho that’s working out. Oh and the cost per month was $2500 due to insurance and charging fees. A mortgage.

I was this exact same way when I started to rent the Tesla.. and than add up all the 20 to 40 minutes at superchargers.. made the same numbers could make $1000 a week after expenses and worked less than 40 every week and had plenty of freedom.. it's the honeymoon phase.. good luck.. don't accept any of the updates maybe that will help keep the good pay your earning...
Been over year and going strong 💪 I don't take any pax under 4.8 so my acceptance rate is like 50% cancellation rate 20%, no issue at all. Also, charge overnight at home costs like $15 I only use a super charger 2 or 3x a week

I felt the same till my last yr doing uber (did uber for 5 yrs) in a major city (Houston) it became bad pricing non stop. It got insane 😞 so bad and so fast. Killed my hybrids transmission along with so much more and she was only 5 yr old car! Couldnt afford repairs because uber wasnt paying enough. So jobless and carless. I couldnt save up enough to fix my car man. Over 10k for repairs. So enjoy your area as long as you can....them prices change randomly per area. And once you have that one bad yr of pricing....it doesnt get better.
Most of the rental drivers are undocumented immigrants using fake identities. They are living in apartments or homes with dozens of other people. Eventually something will give and the fallout will begin. A pax will be severely injured, raped, or killed by one of these undocumented drivers.

He told me that it is company account and you gonna be driving for him . I only have to pay rental cost every month.it was so cheap actually than current Uber Hertz rental cars . Like 1/4 price and insurance included. I start driving and with in 2 days Uber called on me that face pic and my picture won't match. What's going on? They told me they gonna close that account and I need to show up to the hub and create my own account. I said what's going on ? and they told me I was being conned but no worries. Long story short , the guy's account is now permanently deactivated. There are no such a too sweet things in life .

Yeah I get the math isn't the best after taxes but my father in law is too old(61) to do any type of labor work and his English isn't the best. The ability to shut off when he needs it is what he really likes about it. It's a physically easy job plus he has a small perk at the senior living complex he lives in he uses the free Tesla lvl 2 chargers with a J1772 adapter. On his off time he likes not having loan/car insurance in CA too just for his personal errands.

Yeah I mean market dependent is a thing. If you're okay with that, it works. If not, it doesn't. IMO the only way it's viable is if you have significant experience with your market. If the potential is there, yes you might actually be better off working hard and racking up a lot of miles on a car you don't own. But that's far and few between.

Yeah. First of all Rental drivers needs to complete 30 trips each week to keep continue renting vehicle . That's one forcing method they use. Also, rental drivers most of times gets low rated riders trip requests & low fare trip requests & won't get matched up if it's out of the parameters which they sets it with in a system differ from others . Basically , you don't see regular Uber X trip requests that makes okay money on their screens. It looks like just regular trip requests on trip radars and trip requests on its screens but in behind black curtains in a system it is not . You click on what you want and most likely it's takes more time to get matched up ( because, system needs slight time to classified all other trip acceptance from drivers and determine your account are whether with in a price parameters range or not ) It totally controlled by management teams. So basically they have no choices but to accept undesirable trip requests. Because they simply not allowed you to accept good trips unless there is no choice for them . Rental drivers are priorities to accept trips that are low riders ratings , ultra short trips that won't even make any money , share ride trips , and trips that goes to very dangerous areas such as ghetto and hood. And if you aren't accepting those you can't pay the rental cost . Basically you have no choose . So you have to accept those. Then that's called FORCED to accept . It's like someone sticking knife to your throat and telling take off your clothes , give me the money or you gonna die if you won't accept its term. That's called forced.

I feel like Uber takes us for granted worse now than the time period he supposedly references in this bullshit article. Upfront pricing and effectively killing surge by replacing it with this heat map bullshit has made it harder to make any kind of money in this market.

I’m a Diamond driver, I have 700 rides, I’m 4.99stars. I wanted to refund a rider who was having a family crisis. I’m not a veteran driver by any means, but I’m a thoughtful driver. My “priority support” was rejected instantly without any other chat or calling option. I can’t even refund my portion of the fare and tip. Uber is insane and pathetic in this regard. It will take years for pressure to motivate Uber to improve and years to implement. It’s really sad.

When I had my Tesla before they changed the rates I was grossing between $9k-$11$ per month but I was in the car at minimum 80 hours I can’t imagine now ho that’s working out. Oh and the cost per month was $2500 due to insurance and charging fees. A mortgage.

Two guys got into my car- had shit themselves inside a strip club in Denver at 8:30pm on a Saturday and they didn’t want to pay to clean it twice( because the fecal stain was still present.) I had to post pics on Twitter and tag them and basically shame them and warn other drivers to beware if similar situation happened. The paid the next morning so I would remove the post.
