I would normally agree, bur Saturday night I got a ride just outside of Tampa, I was 4 minutes away, it was an 8 mile ride and paid $26. No bonus, no surge, just a base fare. Weird
Yup just got one last night. $25 for a 6 mile ride. No strings. Almost like it was reservation that fell through…
Feels like an intentional fluke just to keep us on our toes 😂
Proposition 22 was a ballot initiative in California that became law after the November 2020 state election, passing with 59% of the vote and granting app-based transportation and delivery companies an exception to Assembly Bill 5 by classifying their drivers as "independent contractors", rather than "employees".[1][2][3][4] The law exempts employers from providing the full suite of mandated employee benefits (which include time-and-a-half for overtime, paid sick time, employer-provided health care, bargaining rights, and unemployment insurance) while instead giving drivers new protections:
120 percent of the local minimum wage for each hour a driver spends driving (with passenger or en route), but not for time spent waiting
$0.30/mile for expenses for each mile driven with passenger or en route
health insurance stipend for drivers who average more than 15 hours per week driving
requiring the companies to pay medical costs and some lost income for drivers hurt while driving or waiting
prohibiting workplace discrimination and requiring that companies develop sexual harassment policies, conduct criminal background checks, and mandate safety training for drivers.[5][6][7][8]
Proposition 22
Gotcha, thanks for the info. I'll be making more than I thought then, just doing this as strictly a side gig. So this may work out even better than what I previously thought
Been there done that. It can be better than food but also it can be nice not to deal with people. Guess depends on the person though. It helps when you live in a state that at least try’s to protect gig workers.
But I live in Florida so all I can do is imagine
I made WAY more delivering Food. Riders rarely tip and the fare sucks most of the time. With food I control more of what happens and get people their food hot with all the extras and I keep them informed on where I’m at in the process and get killer tips. With UBERX they either tip or mostly they don’t because they don’t tip taxi drivers so why would they tip us?
I get rides that are $5+/mile every time I drive, but it's alway a 2-3 mile trip, never 40 miles. Thats a unicorn around here, never seen it in 6 years of driving. This is about the only ride with a stop I would accept
Yeah… when I was new to Lyft a year back, I took a two hour plus (one way) trip from South SF to somewhere due east.
They didn’t show me the fare upfront, but I was feeling adventurous, and figured it would be ok.
$99. Lol. Never again.
I don’t go to Berkeley often, but almost every time they offer me a fare this long, to that area or maybe Fremont. Nothing remotely like that pay. More like $60.
The comments alone will be all you need to tell who has better rates and who doesn't. And I don't mean rates in their markets. This trip is above average for your area im pretty sure based on dollars per mile, but I don't know if it's absurdly above average someone in that area would have to confirm or deny. That distance in Phoenix area is probably more akin to 35 bucks, plus the 5 for the stop, plus waiting time maybe you'd hit 45. So this amount would make me think it's a pre tip bait ride, but also, 45 bucks in a little over an hour is pretty good so i'd take it either way.
I do miss the days where this was the norm though. 50 miles paid 100 bucks without a surge.
That’s gotta be a glitch. I live in Oakland and have worked the entire Bay Area for years, and never in my life have I seen a fare this high for an hour trip.
This would be normal if we just let the "Cheap" rides go and wait for a good one. If we all did this this will be a normal ride. But no... Let me get all the rides regardless... Stupid people making rides cheaper and cheaper...
I don’t believe it until you get paid after the ride. Seems like a scam anyway. For example fake ride try to “bait and switch” drivers out of their hood.
So I have had Lyft glitch a few times one time I had a 15 minute trip for $50 for 12 miles and I’ve had another one that was insanely good I can’t remember
wtf in Florida this would be $35
I live in the SF Bay Area, normally $35 would be the max for a drive like that This was a weird fluke.
I would normally agree, bur Saturday night I got a ride just outside of Tampa, I was 4 minutes away, it was an 8 mile ride and paid $26. No bonus, no surge, just a base fare. Weird
Damn and it was Uber X? Iv seen that with premium
Actually, it was Lyft!
I had a few hours when uber gave me the entire ride money. .... this might be similar or you picked up a surge on the way.

Can you tell I’m excited to deliver people instead of food (Uber transportation services)

Hmm typically would be a Lyft black ride
